Fuji X-H2 - They can't decide whether to cancel it... Or?
colepat and one other reacted to currensheldon for a topic
I think APS-C does have more headroom when it becomes a compact Super35 video camera, and that's what Fuji should do. Take the space of 10-bit 4k (60-120fps max) Super35 abandoned by Sony and Canon with no real updates to the C100 and FS5 in 5 - 7 years. I still think there is a HUGE gap here. Yes, mirrorless cameras are incredibly powerful and yes you could just get a C200/FS7, but I want the compact size of a C100 or XC-15 + things like internal NDs and XLRs. A compact $3k - $5k video camera from Fuji would be very successful I think. And then have the XT4 as a B-Cam. Sounds excellent.2 points -

DeepL with its scarily good machine translation AI (which isn't know yet to most American website operators like FujiRumors since it's a European website) probably renders the original Japanese interview better: Translated with https://www.deepl.com/translator2 points -
@BTM_Pix First off, I LOVE the PCB. mainly for the fact that it's allowed me to do away with the tilta motor and the wires and bulk it adds to an already bulky system. Since i use the Canon 35mm f/2 90% of the time, the PCB makes using the nano for pulling focus seamless. No more calibrating lenses during shooting is wonderful. Here's my one issue, which is minor, but would take the PCB to the next level for me. Due to the P4k's terrible battery life, I am in the habit of turning the camera off between takes. Leaving the nucleus on continuously so it doesn't forget it's connection to the PCB isn't a problem as 2 batteries are plenty, but every time I turn the P4k on, I also have to restart the PCB. Is there any way for the PCB to remain in low power mode and to switch on when it senses the P4k has turned on? Or perhaps if it's plugged into the usb-C port on the P4k, could power through the cable trigger the PCB to turn on and connect? I obviously don't understand the technical factors at work here, but wanted to throw this your way to see if a solution was possible. Thanks!1 point

Speaking of the XC10/15, its interesting that in 2020 where full frame and RAW are now seen as must haves that the five year old 1" sensor fixed slowish lens XC10 still maintains such a relatively high portion of its original selling price on the used market. Fuji do have the component parts to do a s35 approximation of it and its a product that, judging by how it has held its value, clearly does have the right feature set for a lot of people.1 point

But companies or professionals can deduct VAT, so that doesn't apply. That is, if you have open activity, obviously.1 point

Totally agree with you Andrew. People should understand that posting in *your* forum is a *privilege* and *NOT* a "right". And just like when you visit someone's house you must show respect (even if you don't agree with them). Besides, I'm pretty sure that no one (including Andrew) will ban anyone so long as they (1) follow the conversation topic, and (2) express themselves in a respectful manner with constructive criticism (I have seen myself that here many times over the years). On a side note, we all in the community hope that you're safe (whenever you are right now). Don't hesitate to ask for help in a blog post if things get messy, I'd personally help with anything I can.1 point -
Music Video Shot on Sony A6300
MicahMahaffey reacted to Mr. Freeze for a topic
I see a PRS Guitar, I click on "like". But seriously, there are some really nice shots in this video. But it kinda doesn´t know what it wants to be. A music video connected to the song and the artist, or a behind the scenes/studio clip with him sitting in front of the iMac. Still, for a one hour shot with that small sony, it´s a nice result. Was the black and white look previously planned done on purpose or was maybe the grading with mixed lighing too stressfull?1 point -
Check Facebook Marketplace as well, took me only two seconds to find a C100 for $1K and a C300mk1 for $2.2K in Sydney.1 point

The Wandering DP Podcasts - worth it?
Emanuel reacted to heart0less for a topic
Exactly, same story here. I'm a one-man band and I doubt it'll change in the foreseeable future. Nonetheless, I find the podcasts entertaining and educational - a win-win situation, I'd say. ( : Yup, couldn't agree more. Especially now, when some YouTubers put their generic LUTs for 40$ or sometimes more.1 point -
The Wandering DP Podcasts - worth it?
IronFilm reacted to heart0less for a topic
So, it took me almost a year to grow into the decision, BUT I started to support Patrick (aka The Wandering DP) on Patreon last month and I wholeheartedly recommend doing so. It's a great way to learn how the different shots were created, what's the idea behind them and how were they lit - spoiler: it's not really about the strength of the light, it's how you tailor it to your needs. Every podcast / steam feels like an excerpt from "The Photographer's Eye / Mind" by Michael Freeman, except it's a video and you can follow along DP's way of thinking. Right now it's my e-learning site of choice, lol.1 point -

I'd want the Fuji cinema camera to have a locking X Mount! (like Sony does with their E Mount)1 point -
I also use the GX85 as a b-cam / backup to my GH5S. Works really well. Gives me access to IBIS too! The image is very good. It's feature-packed. Obviously where it lacks is in overall ergonomics and usability as it's a little compact thing, and thus a bit fiddly. But I can squeeze it into awkward places, carry it on hikes and trips, and throw it into my camera bag as a virtually weight-free backup body. Awesome.1 point

GX80 in 2020? Graded AVCHD 24mbit 24p 28mbit 60p!
canonlyme reacted to Andrew Reid for a topic
Just an experiment really. I had a visible light cut filter for my lens and wanted to shoot the piece only in infrared wavelength Also had memories of taking out the AA filter from the 5D3 back in the day which let some more IR into the image, when mixed with normal light it gives you a nice warmth to certain colours and brings up the shadows.1 point -

Has anybody tried taking the IR cut filter out of their GX85 yet I did for the EOSHD low budget camera challenge I broke mine but second attempt went well on a body I found for under £200. Should really share that footage some day1 point -

I like the motion of the the Sony IMX253's Global shutter... I hope others will use this sensor in the future as well. Here's examples of the mono version. I imagine this is what 16mm film would look like if it was low noise without film grain. I like the look and think it would be prefect to shoot an indy horror film on.... this sensor series has a lot of potential and film grain can of course be adding in post, low noise and global shutter can not. Good job Sony - nice sensor!1 point -
