  1. I agree. Keep the X-H2 form factor. Just add the stuff obviously missing... ND for one. And anamorphic mode.

  2. Dear Fuji If you are reading, please do make a dedicated video camera, but keep the XH2 as a hybrid. Thanks A lot of folks

  4. I recently got an older Tokina 28-70mm f2.6/2.8 for a great price (used look on the outside, but it is what´s inside, that counts 😆). So I used my Viltrox Focal Reducer (Nikon to MFT) and used it with my Micro Cinema Camera. I already knew that this lens is more on the Vintage-side, that´s why I wanted on in the first place. So I´d say 2.6 is very soft, too soft for my taste actually, so most shots start at f4 and go up to f8 for some shots. There is one shot at f2.6, but it just proved that the softness wide open is really obvious. Still, a great lens that can deliver a great vintage look, gives a nice bokeh and is really well crafted:

  5. I was having a discussion in another thread and like I usually do, it got off topic. So rather than step on the other OP’s toes, I decided to make a new thread. About once a year, usually when a new camera is announced, I become nostalgic about the cameras of yesteryear and I realize how many great cameras have been on the market the past ten years... WOW... has it been almost 10 YEARS since the beginning of the DSLR Revolution or as Andrew Reid likes to call it... “the democratization of filmmaking?” I’ve been lucky to test out a few of those cameras, but there are a bunch that have eluded me. Maybe I am feeling nostalgic as I watch footage from my 5-6 year old camera but it seems there are some gems that are still available both new and used on the marketplace. Part of me wants to test them all before the new models make those fossils extinct. So I figured I’d love to hear some of people’s favorite cameras over the past 10 years and maybe some videos to show those cameras at their best. I posted this in the other thread but I can’t stop watching the first and last couple minutes of it. It was shot on the original C100 and to me looks as cinematic as they come... And here are a couple from the GH2 that makes me smile every time I watch them... Please share some of your favorites and if you were forced to shoot with an older camera... which one would you choose?

  6. And what we mean is PROPER anamorphic mode: Open gate (recording full height of the sensor), 4:3 aspect ratio. Not some trendy 2.39:1 that's made from 16:9 video after cropping both the top and bottom.

  7. There will be a small glimpse of the current development of that on here in the not too distant future....

  8. Weirdly the built in ND on the X100V cannot be enabled during video mode. 4K, but no ND. Getting the basic rights not a strength of the camera companies.

  9. Thanks for the response. I finally used DaVinci Resolve because $299 FCPX is a relatively big cost for me. 😆

  10. I remember reading somewhere that Sony has a patent for in-body electronic variable ND and that's why it's almost inexistent in any other camera apart from Sony FS line. That may explain why Panavision came up with this solution: https://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/32429-panavision-announce-new-electronic-nd-filter-powered-by-built-in-battery/

  11. I don't understand why internal ND filters are not included in more cameras INCLUDING hybrid/stills cameras. Having a built in ND filter that can be switched on and off at the flick of a switch is one thing i love about my ancient Canon G10 camera with a P&S sensor. I wish it had better video but is from a time when that was just an add on.

  12. Exactly. One is a hybrid the other will be clearly a video camera. It is amazing that most - usually young people, or photographers - can't fully grasp the concept of a dedicated video tool! With mobiles and newer cameras do both, people have lost the concept of specialising. How many people do you know that they shoot video with 1/500 shutter speed? I see that all the time. So, no need for internal ND!

Really sorry to hear about that @Sage Thanks for all the work you do on this, it's much appreciated, although events lately and your personal news put all this camera stuff into perspective. Take care mate.

  15. @BTM_Pix That makes sense. I figured you had thought it all through. Like i said, it's not a big deal, i just have to hit 2 buttons when i turn the camera on. Also, really looking forward to TOF. Probably more excited about that than any potential camera releases coming up.
