Vimeo Subscription Up For Renewal - Ditch?
User and one other reacted to BenEricson for a topic
It depends. The Vimeo network is really good. I’ve connected with a lot of really interesting and talented people through Vimeo. I’m sure people could say the same about YouTube. The player / embed also looks way more professional on a website. I’ve always had really nice luck with the quality of their player. ProRes LT uploaded to their site handles film grain wonderfully. I never see macro blocking like I do on YouTube.2 points -
Colorizer 3D LUT smoother
buggz reacted to Attila Bakos for a topic
Just finished a new tool, it does what the title says. It's in beta, bugs are possible. [CLICK HERE] Fuji just released the Bleach Bypass LUT, which has some weird transitions, so I'll use it as a demonstration. This is the stress test image I'll use: See what happens when you apply the Bleach Bypass LUT: Now I use my tool in "box" mode with 1 iterations to create a new LUT: This is "box" mode with 5 iterations: More details on the site.1 point -

@heart0less Hey, whats your name?:) Yes, hopefully people will find ways to learn to behave smart, calm, considering and supportive. Hopefully innovative economic processes and social fairness will develeop as well as needed. The free market shows its limits as a controlling tool for the needs and challenges of a recession of this kind. Parallel to practical and systemic needs we need to cherish our happiness as well. Was a pleasure to post this and happy that you liked it.:)1 point -
Hallo Andrew, these are the EOSHD gems, your library of articles! People of this forum have often talked about your classic articles. I bought a F3, PL mount camera for cheap, and discussion was again about older cameras, how some of them hardly go for low prices. The A cam Ikonoskop is a prime example of that or Digital Bolex, F3 is not of course. If you still have your Bolex, it would be awesome to see some footage again of Berlin the way you see it!! You know Rob from Slashcam? Super cool! HD-shop, they were distributor of the Kinefinety cameras I think. Bought an EF to MFT booster from them once.:) Back on topic. Ergos, picked up my F3 today, corona mask experience in Berlins public traffic. That camera is pretty as heck. But cannot say much other than how it reminds me of the Panasonic AF100. It is one of the coolest camera bodies I had the pleasure to mess around with a bit when a friend of mine bought one two years ago. Now I got my own Sony AF100 with a mix of external 444 glory. So, my pick, AF100. I will see how the F3 does in that regard.1 point

Canon EOS R5 8K monster official topic
Olivier reacted to Andrew Reid for a topic
I would wait to see for the real-world performance of the EOS R5, especially the 8K RAW and 4K/120fps. Plus most of what we liked about the 1D X III could end up on a much cheaper EOS R6. $6500 is a lot for a DSLR these days, even if it is indeed the best one ever made. Mirrorless cameras are a much nicer shooting experience for video.1 point -
Fuji X-T4
keessie65 reacted to Andrew Reid for a topic
Exposure issues IBIS issues Anyone would think the X-T4 is completely broken. I think we need to point the thread in a more positive direction. These are very minor issues. Let's let Fuji know, but let's not dwell on it for page after page. It is a bit uninspired.1 point -
Canon EOS R6
Simon Young reacted to independent for a topic
I'm curious about any of these projected calculations of rolling shutter, because I've understood it as a spec that's released by the company or measured by various individuals and websites. Is there some formula for rolling shutter I'm missing? Speaking of logic, if the R5 and 1DX III share the same ADC (via androidlad above), shouldn't the R5's rolling shutter should be worse than the 1DX III's? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the quoted readout numbers are 30ms for 5.5K (1DXiii) versus 25ms for 8K (R5). All things being equal, isn't that illogical? I can accept the notion that there are more variables to account for (e.g., the R5 has a different, more advanced sensor and processor than any existing camera, including the 1DX iii), and that people are just projecting and extrapolating. I just want to know how people are coming up with numbers.1 point -

Canon EOS R6
Super8 reacted to Andrew Reid for a topic
Not good?! It's phenomenal silicon. I have no idea how Canon is even contemplating that much data... 45 megapixel at 40fps is astounding. And all that has to be compressed to complex H.265 at up to 30fps as well. So not only is the sensor readout bandwidth extreme, the image processor behind it is a massive step up for Canon. Where is Sony's 8K in an A7? A7 III chips are older than yesterday's reheated oven chips.1 point -

Panasonic has confirmed a entry level S series full frame camera will be coming. I’m starting to much prefer a semi-stabilized handheld look than a gimbal. So much more character in the shots. If you have IBIS to remove the micro jitters than all you have to worry about is minimizing the swaying and there’s lots of creative ways to do that without buying expensive gimbals.1 point -

Γεια σου πατριώτη! Nice footage! You're not supposed to decompress anything on a fake anamorphic recording though. It's still square pixels. So when you shoot with Magic Lantern, you should not tell it that it's anamorphic recording, but rather normal recording. Then it will appear correctly when editing. Here is mine from today (Canon M50, Helios 44-2, Viltrox Speedbooster, Vid-Atlantic anamorphic aperture filter). I also have a modded Helios 44-2 (that doesn't require the Vid-Atlantic filter to get anamorphic bokeh) in the mail, coming soon:1 point

Kowa Anamorphic-35 1.75X Inflight Insights?
Ian Edward Weir reacted to Caleb Genheimer for a topic
That video is fantastic! I’m definitely going to be on the hunt for this 1.75X Kowa now. Seems like a real winner that I’d sell my other scopes to get ahold of. I’m FLOORED that more people aren’t talking about the 1.75X Aivascope though. Just the fact that it is currently produced for the anamorphic market and that it goes so wide and is so small is crazy. There’s very little out there and most of it seems to be about his initial lens, but this Version 2 seems very sharp with good rendering.1 point
