  1. If you want to know about Toneh and other useful insight in the relativity of it all, don’t forget this channel: I especially like the insider/management meetings he does 🙂 There are a few great ones about Sony and Canon...

  2. If someone wanted something smaller than an Alexa, cheap enough to crash and better image quality than a gopro then they could have just bought a BMPCC or BMMCC. Sounds like they set out to build a camera for a specific task without first phoning up the camera store to see if one existed already.

downloading the latest resolve version however i think i'm temporarily rolling back to an earlier version as the current version 16.2.1 and the version im downloading require 32 gigs. Ram has been ordered however the guy that runs the store has no idea when it will arrive as apparently corona virus has messed things up nicely and that was two weeks ago . Resolve does run and it hasn't fallen over yet, it does tend to be rather sluggish. The whole, is it running, will it finish or fall over is annoying to me ( not that i hold bmd responsible ) i just want it working like it did before in a previous version. Considering my editing is at a rather basic level, living with an earlier version isn't an issue for me. Teaser photo of the canon lens, still waiting for the adapter, should be here by friday i hope. I dont imagine it would be a cinematographers first lens choice. I have a couple of projects in mind where this could be useful. It does like mint inside and out. Once the adapter arrives i should be able to confirm if i got a bargain or not. Actually just had a brainwave i still have a canon t90 in the cupboard i can mount it to that and check out the optics. Initial impressions are, looks like i got a bargain i'm a happy chappy at the moment. Considering the pretty average light bulbs i have, things look good. while i have the t90 out, heres some vintage action for you i had forgotten what lenses i had looks like the fd mount will get some use after all

  5. The fp/L-mount has no built-in mechanics and electronics to support a leaf shutter. It may be frustrating, but the current version of the fp is more a technology demo or beta version of a new camera concept. For it to become mature, there needs to be improved hardware, such as: faster sensor readout to make the electronic shutter a fully-featured, fully equivalent replacement of a mechanical shutter, a faster CPU to allow simultaneous focus peaking and zebras and eliminate shutter lag, a higher-resolution display with focus magnification during recording to give more confidence when pulling focus, higher USB transfer speeds to allow full resolution and sensor readout for RAW video.

  6. I'm almost certain I recall Blackmagic RAW is free to license. I'm not so sure they could specifically charge for it. Of course that wouldn't stop them from simply charging more for the camera. I've played around with the codec and really like it. I would love for it to be in a Panasonic camera. This would definitely drive me to purchase a GH6 and finally a copy of Davinci Resolve Studio.

  7. Hi Andrew. Yes the new speaker design is sweet but don’t get carried away by the sound. Those machines are a nightmare for audio editing tasks. There are 2 huge threads on MacRumors and many videos on YT about the intense audio popping that can be noticed inside Logic, FCPX and many other apps. I am experiencing this issue myself on a 2019 15 inch unit and the only solution is to use an external audio interface (or headphones). Apple is aware of this issue for almost 10 months now and has done nothing to fix it.

    RED Komodo

Things tend to look good when you’ve dropped 10s of thousands of dollars on equipment? I think the GH5S is the best MFT camera because I own it 😁🤣

    RED Komodo

I thought the comparing to Sony bodies was an exaggeration, but WOW does that look like something shot on a Sony A7III that wasn't graded.

  12. I think they did 360 and VR cameras first, although they did make the E1 a smaller M4/3 camera before their current E2 range.

  13. Z-CAM also evolved from action cameras. The company was founded on Go Pro type cameras. How many here actually own a Komodo? I say give it a chance before talking it down.

  14. RED carries on life denying that BMD exists! (but then again they don't acknowledge Kinefinity either eh?)

  15. Personally, my interest for 1DX3 completely died down after R5 was rumoured shortly after. As for GFX100 vs 1DX3 vs XT4.. well 3 different sensor size cameras at 3 completely different budgets. Again personally, above the $6K line I'd rather be looking at dedicated cine cams.. especially if RS, NDs, XLR etc are of importance to you. XT4 definitely seems like best bang for buck at the moment, kinda like the new GH5. But if you're into FF (even if just for stills) you still may wanna invest in another hybrid system.

  16. No, it was X-Trans (see specs on link below): https://***URL removed***/reviews/fujifilm-x-h1 Though I wonder if one argument for moving to Bayer CFA for X-H2 might be all the software work Fujifilm have done on the image processing on the GFX cameras, which use Bayer? Perhaps they can transfer some of that work over to a Bayer X-H2?

  17. Indeed, Z6 and Z7 have a similar problem. Indirect bad sign for Sigma issue is that they have it even on firmware 3.0. Looks like it is impossible to fix or Nikon just doesn't care.

  18. They knew it existed... but they also knew that their crazed fan base would buy whatever they release. Red are kind of like Jeep. They beat everyone else with their original products - one of the first of it's kind - then cashed in on their reputation and started selling overpriced, unreliable products, but with very focused marketing.

  21. A couple of stills extracted from videos. Minolta 58/1.4 at f/2, Samsung NX1, mostly at ISO 1600, but few shots required ISO 3200, no hacks. Perfectly happy with the results, shadows on this camera are so deep and rich.. Lovin' it.

  22. Andrew, mate, and I am even abstaining of any comment in that struggle in those threads out there, go figure! LOL No likes, nothing. More fuel to the thing, why? I believe these boards must chill out. I personally don't like to read any personal attacks, let alone to you or anyone else. I humbly think you're not in the best of your moods tonight : ) and no matter the divergence we can all have to each other (I don't mean you and me but any of us), we are all different people, we cannot expect to see from someone else's keyboard what we'd like to read or write instead. You're the only webmaster, we are all here for fun, after all, no other pay off : -) That my post in this thread is about the topic I believe the majority of us appreciate to read from you: cameras related. No secondary (mis)interpretation(s). So, you open this thread. My wonder: why and what single advantage you're willing to show us with that combo? Sincerely interested to hear/read/spot your finds. Hence my comment before. Is it really worthy? Nothing against photos of more gear as further add-ons to our rigs. But you should be blamed for your incentive to more purchases, you know? : D BTW any plans to post some footage of that GFX 100 Ninja V you decide now to tease your guests? Be careful with that mouth watering : P Hard to be indifferent to your posts, provocative publisher... hehe Please keep this beloved forum (so yours, I consider it a bit mine or ours as well) as friendly as ever. Keep up the best of your good word, thanks man and enough deep pockets, shame on that ; -) Let's be positive and avoid private yadda yadda, especially when ends bitter and nonsense then. Life is too precious to be wasted. - E.
