I've seen this configuration too a few times on sets. Basically you take a monopod, and stick the bottom of it into a little "pocket" (such as a very strong drink bottle holder) which is attached to a sturdy waist belt.3 points -

I think, image quality is overwhelmingly good, to a point I sometimes feel like I cheat. You can always take away the super high resolving look in post. A few clicks, done. I still have issue with oversaturated blue caused by lensflares, f.i. from my FD 50mm 1.4. I would do more testing before shooting something sufficient with a lot of backlight in combination with that or other lenses. Colourscience is awesome. I can create any look I want from it. With Vlog, it is a cinema camera through and through for the price of 1500USD. @omega1978 The part with the couples kissing is conceptually the strongest. Rhythm is good, even for viewers like me to keep on track, even without interest in an immediate wedding.:) Good and solid work. Music is not my friend in this video.:) Future couples will like your video. Well done and thank you for showing! Grading is a bit on the saturated side, well, it looks like a wedding video:) Couples looking good, which is most important for a wedding video. They will book you, I am very sure. cheers2 points

Slowing down 24p

I like slowing down 30p to 24p. It gives a more filmic mood to your video.1 point -
Great clip but I will agree as well. Sorry! It has nothing to do with your handling at all.. Even at golden hour in the great outdoors, something is not quite right. I suppose it is the same for most cameras of course.1 point

I can definitely imagine that these cameras are great for company work. @omega1978 wedding videos are as good as it gets in a non-controlled environment for company work . Very nice work @PannySVHS I agree that you can take the super high resolving look in post but there is some emotive character missing vlog or not. Unfortunately I never had the pleasure to perhaps shoot an s5/s1 along with my x-t3 in the same exact setting in order to be able to describe it further. I am envious of Panasonic's approach of making their cameras more videocentric friendly in their use (most fujistas are ignorant of what their cameras can do video-wise ) Do the professional panasonic cameras have better colour science or is this as good as it gets and the rest is production value and ease of use? I almost bought a gh a couple of years ago but I still did not like the look back then. I am not bashing Panasonic at all , these are fantastic cameras I would be very happy to own. I am just interested in what their everyday experienced users critically think away from "the mine is better than yours" mentality. I suppose the feeling we are after is too fleeting and complicated to be explained in a couple of paragraphs1 point

Yeah def agree, its part colour science but also too sharp and detailed. Using vintage lenses helps, but for narrative work I would use a proper cinema camera. But the s series is great for company videos and thats what I will use this cam for as it is a faster way of working. (Ibis, small, less weight, pretty good battery life)1 point -
Andrew Reid on Filmmaking: When the truth is so awful, only liars win

The basic problems are always the same. Billions of poor people who can't unite to overthrow the handful of riches. Fucking the planet, regret doing it and keep doing it, rinse&repeat. Koyaanisqatsi has 40 years. It would be great if we could tackle at least one of those before human extinction.1 point -

@Andrew Reid - I agree on so many levels. It's at a point so monstrous and disorientating it's just.... f*cked. You're around Manchester aren't you? My space is open. You could occupy one of the (many) empty coworking desks with free coffee etc, bitch about celebrity Youtubers, play with my C70 and film the empty sad streets around the utopian Ancoats area. It's dark and raining.1 point -

While a lot of work, craft and talent has been poured in all the latest videos from the S range cameras I find the footage too "video" for my liking. It is very clean, it has nice hues but it seems to lack soul... Just my feeling, I am not bashing on what are clearly excellent cameras. Some of the videos in this thread are great but you cannot help feeling how better they could become due to some more emotive colour science. What is the critical opinion of the S camera owners?1 point -

Slowing down 24p
Mark Romero 2 reacted to fuzzynormal for a topic
Old Canon video cameras used to shoot low shutter too. I remember shooting 15 fps hi-8 video for my "dramatic" moments. That's not really step printing though. I did stumble across a neat little in-camera effect back in the day. Shot 8fps shutter with my XH-A1 and then would ramp up the footage in post. Lots of camera blur, and if you filmed your subject moving in slow-mo, it looked like stop motion animation.1 point -

@kye isn't talking about undercranking though, right? He's talking about slowing down 24 fps. Speaking of Wong Kar Wai, didn't he use used the effect kye is talking about in Chungking Express? It's a nice effect for some scenes. I feel like it's used more for "impact" in action scenes as opposed to the "cool factor" or "rhythm" of normal slow motion, if that makes any sense. Long ago on my GH3 I did that trick with the shutter speed, but a lot of digital cameras don't let you lower the shutter below the frame rate. The Z Cam E2 can shoot any integer frame rate from 1 up to the max, and as a bonus the shutter angle setting always behaves correctly. I did some "retro" tests with 16mm crop mode and a few C mount 16mm lenses, in 15 fps.1 point -

Hope things get better for all of us soon. I don't think I can cope with another 6 months in apartment jail. It's putting too much pressure on all of us and ruining too many people's motivation to work and socialise. Very dangerous. I totally get how it can exacerbate issues in relationships and that constant anxiety is always there with this bloody virus. Winter doesn't help either. Or Brexit. Or any of our silly clueless governments. I am just waiting for the worldwide economy to have its say in 2021, because we can always rely on a fucking American banker to make things worse when people are suffering! I think the key to the internet is to have a few key friends that you share online chat and activities with, like gaming, or work, or creative projects, people you get on with or know in real life... but then be sure to put some of the strangers at an arms length as much as possible, because these are not real connections and can always flip at any second into outright nastiness over differences of opinion. Facebook is horrendous and can even turn friends against each other for profit. Yeah, long live the open discussion on EOSHD. There are some peoples input and content I really value. Others not so much 😉1 point -

I am not going to see this movie. But if you want to cheer yourself up Andrew, check out Netflix's superhero fare. Jessica Jones (season 1) is the best written and acted of the lot, but the action is fantastic in Daredevil and the lighting is amazing in Luke Cage (we'll pretend Iron Fist never happened). I have often said that people should check out Luke Cage or Daredevil if you want to see how to do dark cinematography the right way. It is the total opposite of the literally unwatchable Solo: A Star Wars Story. Night scenes on the Netflix supershows look realistic but everything pops out from the shadows so you get the mood without missing the action. Sadly, Disney shut down those productions when they bought Marvel, but hopefully the extremely talented production crews will be making beautiful new works soon.1 point -

I shoot a lot of events and work on a wide variety of projects especially ones where the subject is moving so I can't afford to monitor in BW. My favorite focusing system of all time is the Canon system with the 3 triangles; it is such a fantastic way to know without question when something is in focus. I know Canon patented their system, but you would think other vendors could come up with something better than colored dots that are impossible to see 95% of the time. I punch in to check focus too but it doesn't do you any good if the subject or camera moved afterwards, especially since you can't punch in again while recording. There is just no easy answer. My answer is to shoot with a wider lens when I'm on a gimbal (24mm) and to shoot with the highest F stop I can get away with F8 and higher. Indoors of course is even harder but the wide angle lens helps. For crazy shallow DOF shots I carefully stage everything and try to keep the camera pretty static while the subject moves slightly, but those shots are more planned out than say an event.1 point -
