  1. Sorry if my question wasn't clear. Considering the price of the L-mount native lenses I was wondering if I could get away with cheaper Canon/Nikon mount lenses + adapter to keep the costs down. Apparently this should be possible but with many limitations. Even the Sigma adapter has a limited selection of lenses compatible. I have a Tokina 11-16 ATX PRO Nikon F mount, I can forget about using AF-S with the S5?

    Panasonic GH6

Agreed. If the GH6 had been released in early 2019 with 6K or even 8K, it would have carried some weight and continued the trend. As it was, Panasonic went down a different route. Each GH release carried something new that got people excited for MFT, but it will be hard for a GH6 to get the same level of excitement now. Though with the S1H out there, it's no longer going to be Panasonics flagship hybrid camera, so probably won't have to be the big launch previous models were. If done well, it could keep the MFT line going for another 5 years. It's whether Panasonic will want to do so, when there are advantages in encouraging current GH users to shift to their fullframe brand and spend money on a new lens system. MFT still has its uses, and is great for light and low profile lenses, but with Olympus gone, it feels like format dying slowly from neglect.

Sure, being in the sound department you quickly grow to accept your priority is ranked looow down. That's why I gave a range of options that I listed. Perhaps not "FOREVER"! That's a looooong time. Perhaps in five or ten years time they'll have grown up and worked out their issues, and have refined products. Many of these Chinese companies are developing very fast. (but still falling way shorts, as they've got a looooong way to go)

I stand with ironFIlm on that one. I encountered the same issues with audio dropouts again on a mini doc and I decided to send them again, and forget about this brand, forever !!

  5. Its like saying poor people in developed countries shouldn't call themselves poor, because some kids somewhere in India are dying because there is no enough food. Slavery is about a situation where a person or a group of people, commonly known as master, decides how you should live. Some people have legitimately concluded that they're in that situation right now. The mathematical measurements of misery is not the subject.

  6. I'm really excited for M1X or M2 powered Macs, especially a refreshed future Mac Mini. As far as video editing is concerned, the MBP 13" just eats H265 without breaking a sweat...on battery power for 3+ hours with 20% battery remaining. The performance (video editing) is amazing, but the power efficiency is what really impresses me the most and what really makes the new M1 powered Macs impressive. I have an Anker USB-C PD battery bank that can output 30W charging, adds 94Whr on top of 58Whr internal battery in the MPB, and could probably power this laptop for over a week or more, even with some video editing sessions. Which might be handy for people that might be off grid or traveling where mains power is either spotty or non-existent. I can't speak for Premiere Pro but in FCPX I have background rendering turned off and viewer set to Better Quality. I can throw in 4K H265 10-bit 4:2:2 at 480Mbps ALL-I (from R5), apply the Canon Rec709 WideDR LUT and even Image stabilization and play back with no dropped frames. Everything cuts and slices and moves around the timeline without any hiccups. Its so so nice. PC will get there and probably surpass performance but probably not power efficiency. So exciting times for Mac laptops in any case.

  7. Right, so you think that for 4:2:2 a M1 is necesarry. But for h265 4:2:0 a powerful CPU (such as a 5900x?) might be enough on Premiere? Couldn't quite figure out what you meant to say.
