Fun for me is low light shooting and especially light projections (as well as live music gigs but not so many of those lately. I also like shooting people (portraits) but do not get to do that enough. From Enlighten Canberra recently. This is the Australian National portrait gallery. They are going to use some of my shots.... Maybe it will be a very slight "in" for me (but I doubt it).....Before I die I would love to have a portrait in the gallery...Probably never going to happen though.3 points

Programmer runs Minecraft on a Canon DLSR camera
majoraxis and one other reacted to Helen Adela for a topic
The Canon Rebel SL2 DSLR camera is known for bringing a 24 MP sensor and recording videos in Full HD, but a programmer decided to use the product for an unusual purpose: running a Minecraft server . The procedure was carried out by the developer known as "turtius", who shared his work in a video on YouTube . The production shows the Canon Rebel camera running on Minecraft for about a minute and a half, running the game server optimized for 8-bit. The images are displayed directly on the camera monitor, as well as on a computer connected to the device. According to the programmer, the procedure was possible after reverse engineering the camera. The developer also applied modifications to Canon's system using the Magic Lantern software, which allows you to customize image capture devices in more depth. In addition to running Minecraft, the camera used in the experiment can still be used normally to record videos and take photos, reports the person in charge of the project. The developer also shared his experiment codes for free, allowing more people to try running Minecraft on Canon devices. For those interested, more details about the modification made to the camera are available on GitHub , but follow the procedure at your own risk. If you want to play Minecraft on a device that supports the game naturally, the game of blocks is available on PC, consoles and also for smartphones. Last year, developer Mojang also launched Minecraft Dungeons , which brings a new vision to the block franchise with Diablo- inspired gameplay .2 points -

ASUS got a very interesting feature: Guess what? Just looking for an Android app able to handle manual exposure going along the fast frame rate of 4K 120fps from ASUS 7 PRO hardware. As well, disabling the 'Edge Enhancement' feature offering a more cinematic outcome such as FILMiC PRO or Cinema 4K apps for example. However, there are limitations. Those third parties don't allow any competent 4K slowmotion on ASUS 7 PRO as happens with the proprietary software. Open Camera is open source. Some features are available only on a few devices, as they may depend on hardware or camera features, the Android version, etc and definitely not on ASUS 7 PRO, unfortunately. I wonder if Open Camera app wouldn't be viable to be directly adapted in order to address such needs? Or what about a new app from scratch? Is there anyone out there able to develop it in one or another route solution? I believe there is a huge market just waiting for... Almost every Zenfone 7 PRO user taking advantage of this unique 4K 120fps feature would salute and buy this new arrival, I bet. Without mention, one of the goodies of this cameraphone, the retractable/flip camera, is only available on the proprietary app. Why not on third parties? Is it feasible? Any takers?1 point

R5 vs R6

Good question, I also usually just follow 180 degree rule blindly and shoot 50p at 1/100 with slow-mo in mind. Maybe 50p at 1/50 makes more sense for non slomo on a 25p timeline..? Yes 4K50p is the same 5.5K oversampled quality 4K. 4K crop mode is a slightly upsampled sub-4K region (3414 x 1920 pixels). You'd have to pixel peep to notice the difference. I guess its worth noting 4K60p crop mode on the R6 gets you the lowest RS: 10.2ms. Manual WB with Clog in Neutral seems pretty good, I haven't done extensive tungsten tests though.1 point -

Sony Semiconductor Readies a Wave of New Stacked Sensors
Video Hummus reacted to Jimmy G for a topic
My hope here (expectation, actually) is that Panasonic will go with their own organic sensors for their next wave of releases (post-Japan-Olympics) with a line of 8K/wide-DR/high-ISO/global-shutter cameras (yes, MFT, too). Quite frankly, the market could use some better sensor differentiation, IMHO, and I'd love to see Panasonic and Nikon and Sigma succeed in bringing their own sensor technology to market each for their own unique imaging characteristics. Sony can continue to sell their sensors to the upstarts (like Z-Cam) and stay in the green. Time to move this market forward...again, IMHO.1 point -
I don't think you'll be disappointed with a Ronin or Zhiyun product.1 point

I saw that, pretty cool indeed. This one is also a great technical challenge to fly a cine whoop up there.... the fun part is the turn on the top and downhill...1 point

Getting started again.

True, The AF is not dependable, but I am not personally convinced that you will be getting that much of an improvement shooting in RAW over the internal 10-Bit V-LOG codec. Pretty much all the tests I have seen seem to show only minor improvements. It's a really good codec and in Resolve 17, just use DaVinci Wide Gamut and the HDR grading tools and you've got a ton of flexibility. As for autofocus...1 point -
My Panny 24-105 f/4 stays glued to my S1H at least 90% of the time for video work. I also have the Sigma 35 f/1.4 and the lens is killer sharp, and a great full body photo lens, but it's speed is wasted on the video side because of the horrid autofocus not being good enough, even at f/8. I also have the Panny 20-60 that I kept when I sold my S5. It's a nice compact lens that gives me just enough to keep me from having to pull out my adapted (and optically bad) Sigma 12-24 f/3.5-5.6. Like everyone else here, the 28-70 checks a lot of boxes, but is not wide or long enough, though it's the perfect compromise from a speed perspective. I'd love a 24-105 f/2.8 to keep me at around ISO-6500 instead of the under exposed ISO-10000 I'm running now for reception video work, but there goes my wrist and my back running this on my gimbal. I may try and grab a used Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 for stills and manual video work, if I can find one around $750. Before I sold my S5, I used it on an adapted Canon 80-200 f/2.8 in manual focus mode for stills for weddings, and I'm definitely not looking forward to shooting this beastly lens on my S1 while the S1H rocks the 24-105, just too much damn weight!1 point
