Panasonic GH6

They should just make a battery grip that contains an M2 SSD slot that automagically connects to the camera and records the compressed raw on that - bingo.. "external" raw. Or licence Prores from Apple and offer those options. ....or just make it possible to select whatever bitrate and bit depth you want and turn off sharpening, that would do it for me.2 points -
«The DJI Air 2s will bring some upgrades compared to the Mavic Air 2. While the manufacturer still installed a half-inch small 48 megapixel sensor for photos in the Air 2, this will be upgraded to 20 megapixels in the successor (without Mavic branding). On the other hand, at 600 grams, the drone is 30 grams heavier than its predecessor. The manufacturer also brings the 10-bit color space into the camera. This means that over a billion colors can be recorded. With “Intelligent HDR”, the manufacturer has brought a function into the drone that “automatically combines several recordings in order to increase the dynamic range of images without post-processing”. The drone also supports a hyperlapse and a panorama function. As you can see on our renders, the drone has a total of four rotors, which can accelerate at a maximum of 19 meters per second (as with the Mavic Air 2). For this, the drone can be operated up to a maximum of 6000 meters above sea level. The internal memory is again measured at 8 gigabytes. For video makers, a new feature has now been integrated with “Master Shots”, which executes ten different maneuvers of a subject and makes short recordings. The subject always remains in the center of the picture. The drone supports the well-known standards “Spotlight 2.0” and “Point of Interest 3.0”, but the drone also introduces “ActiveTrack 4.0”. Simply put, this is tracking an object. DJI Air 2s: Also interesting for FPV beginners With the new Air 2s drone, the autopilot is also being upgraded to version 4.0. It detects foreign objects in all four directions and avoids them. The “FPV Goggles V2” known from the new DJI FPV drone are also supported by the DJI Air 2s. Accordingly, the drone also supports the new “OcuSync 3.0” transmission standard, with which the rendering in the glasses should run smoothly. To avoid airplanes or helicopters, DJI uses the “ADS-B” signal transmitter to receive a signal from nearby airplanes. The battery has a capacity of 3,500 mAh, this has already been confirmed by an FCC entry. The drone comes in white, an exact price is not yet available, but it should be over 800 euros. The presentation will take place in April 2021.» source1 point

You are right. I don't remember going to see a lot of movies shot on an Alexa and saying, "wow, those skin tones look green," unless there was a scene under fluorescent lighting where things are SUPPOSED to have a green tint. But your larger point that there is a BIG difference between what you get SOOC and what the footage looks like in the hands of a pro colorist is absolutely spot on. I guess these kinds of tests have a point; if you are not going to be doing some serious color grading, then certain cameras are going to be better for your production than others. Just don't compare SOOC with what can be done with the footage in the hands of a competent colorist.1 point -
Are Sony sensors ruining video with the 'Sony look'?
majoraxis reacted to austinchimp for a topic
Wow Panasonic really nailed colour back then. When I look at this and the colour from the 5Dmkii I have to wonder what the hell happened since then? Maybe my negative perception of colour in consumer cams 2014-2020ish mostly comes from Sony dominance and the pandora's box of giving S-Log to the masses.1 point -
Communist Creative Cloud service launched today in Berlin
Celli reacted to Andrew Reid for a topic
Adobe Creative Cloud finally has some competition. Communist Creative Cloud has been launched today in Berlin! The three PC terminals are subscription based, and are wheeled to you once per month for the important competition of your communist propaganda leaflets. Each terminal comes with a Nikon 1 series mirrorless camera with extremely large format sensor developed in Sochi by the renowned soviet scientist Mr P. Utin. As you'd expect for subscription software, pricing is extremely low starting at $0*. The true price you pay for this is in your committed allegiance to the "Die Linke" party and a green tax where you have to dissemble your entire apartment piece by piece and replace each brick with wood. You may also offer blood. In keeping with the famous Moto "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs", the software ships only with the level of tools for your feeble abilities. YouTubers get a version of Communist Premiere Pro with a thumbnail creator containing two special presets - "Amazed face" and "Shocked expression". A special Chris and Jordan mode is available which gives all ex-camera-salesmen the belief they are famous filmmakers for the glorious region of Kamerastalingorsk. All editing tools are removed apart from the digital zoom. Wedding photographers get a special Communist Photoshop that only allows photos shot wide open at F1.2 and a clarity slider that ends at -20. *The use of the terminal is limited to 1 hour due to radioactive emissions from the special CRT monitor. EOSHD hands-off report On a tour of the Communist Creative Cloud offices in Berlin today, I could see a hive of activity. Proud workers huddled around a machine (of course adhering to the mask policy of the German C.C.C.P regime) putting images of Stalin into a transform tool. The beta test programme had gone well with only several deaths, and minor spillage of radioactive material from the Robotron CPU. I was not allowed to go near the software but was informed by a member of the Stasi CC that the Communist Creative Cloud doesn't just feature apps like Premiere and Photoshop. Office productivity tools are included and these I'm told are expected to be a big hit with the Berlin city authorities, like the municipal vaccination coordination offices. Meanwhile you may sign up to Communist Creative Cloud by creating a special personalised profile of yourself and uploading it to the Communist Cloud server based in Moscow moderated by Mr V. Puttit. Dubbed "Sputnikbook", it is part social media photo sharing website and part personal activity tracker. Already 100,000 people have gladly taken part all on their own accord. I am told Communist Creative Cloud (CCC) Premiere Pro can handle 12K video, the K standing for Kosmonaut. For videos not shot with 12 Kosmonauts you are limited to a standard resolution of just 12 green lines and the standard CRT refresh rate of 1 frame per month. Still, more productive than the average leftie! Long live Communist Creative Cloud!!1 point -
I'm just hoping these 1 inch sensors eventually make their way into DJI's pocket and action cameras.1 point

When in the field, I always power my h6 with a USB power bank and never have any issues. I'm sure a wall USB socket will be fine.1 point -
Canon R5 new 1.3 firmware ads CLOG3, Raw light and IPB light
ntblowz reacted to Video Hummus for a topic
After CLOG3 was added I don't have many complaints. It strikes a nice balance of offering more highlight recovery than clog1 while keeping shadow noise low for easy workflow. I'm sure technically its still behind latest Sony Cameras but comparing them is starting to feel like splitting hairs in 90% of situations. Lots of other things matter after that. Plus we have compressed RAW lite now, and with a bit more effort in post, some amazing results can be achieved for a mirrorless camera (especially one from Canon). I think after stepping back and looking at the whole package that is the R5 and after having used it for several months now... It's pretty sweet. The 4KLQ thing was massively overblown it was ridiculous. People zooming in on tests charts 200% or 400% and saying it looks like crap (it does). But in the real world after YouTube compression or H264 delivery there isn't that many downsides to using it. Not to mention the RF mount ecosystem has a bright future with RED KOMODO and future cinema cameras from canon...perhaps Blackmagic will join RF too?! I would like to see cheap 20/24mm wide F1.8 primes and an updated RP with clog1 and perhaps no crop FF 4K for a replacement for the M50 style camera. A quality, powered digital hotshot mic would be nice with that setup too to keep things lean or at least open up the protocol so Røde, Deity, or Sennheiser can make products for it. R5 4KHQ, RF 24-70mm, clog3/cinema gamut.1 point -

For the Tom Antos tests, I had my prefered list as pretty similar to what everyone else had (except switch around alexa and Red) 1) Ursa Mini Pro 2) BMPCC 6K 3) Red 4) Arri Mind you, I was looking primarily at skin tones. Maybe I am losing my mind, but the Arri skin tones just looked so green in that test.1 point -

Trankilstef reacted to independent for a topic
I don't get the complaints about dynamic range. All recent cameras (non-Arri, non-Red) get around 12 stops—including the R5 in raw. Raw is noisy, including Redcode, and NR is a necessary tool in post. If you don't want to shoot in Raw, there are other options out there that will give you a cleaner image with higher dynamic range. The tradeoff of course will be more artifacts, limited latitude, or worse color. It's your choice. Even the Komodo has tradeoffs. On image quality alone, it has relatively awful low-light and limited latitude with dramatic color shifts. If you just can't live without 13 stops of dynamic range or the world will be bereft of your creative potential and professional skills, you have a simple answer: C70.1 point -

If it's worth saying, it's worth repeating, right? also, if it's worth saying it's definitely worth repeating. I completely agree. To put things into perspective, here's a video from the GH1 that I saw shared recently. To my eyes, it look better than almost everything I see posted in the last couple of years. 1080p camera, 1080p upload, from a camera that is so old it doesn't change hands much anymore, but when it does it can be had for about $100.1 point
