  1. Buy Tesla with bitcoins, give me Tesla, I give you camera 😎

  2. Also I think this is a really unfair characterization of Gerald. Long form camera reviews, especially ones where he is critical of the camera he's reviewing, is not the best way to get views and affiliate sales. If his intentions were to maximize his views and affiliate link sales he is doing a terrible job.

  3. AFX Update #14 can be read here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/afx-autofocus-adapter#/updates/all My understanding is that all shippable shipments will be collected by the designated shipper by April 21, 2021, except for the few orders that need to have clarification on their shipping information. If you are an AFX campaign contributor and have not received a sipping notification, you may wish to check the link above for instructions. @BTM_Pix Thank you for all of your hard work in making this happen! It is obvious that you are not only an extremely talented designer, prodigy developer and engineering genius, but also a person of integrity, commitment and follow through. I am glad I invested in AFX and look forward to supporting future CDA-TEK product releases. Thank you for making my filmmaking technology dreams a reality! Mark

  5. Quality is great, pretty fast too, I used to use it pretty extensively transcoding Samsung NX1 and NX500 h.265 files into Pro Res. LUTs can be baked in, it's a solid piece of software with regular updates, they keep it running smooth.

  6. Maybe save that criticism for the Matti Haapoja's and Peter McKinnon's of YouTube and not the guy that does rather dry long form reviews and regularly criticizes the things you think he's trying to sell? I say this as a very vocal critic of the YouTube filmmaking bubble. I don't always agree with Gerald but it's ridiculous to act as though he's looking to maximize clicks and affiliate sales. His videos would be under 10 minutes and feature him pouring coffee (gotta get that pouring sound!), riding a one wheel around, and otherwise pretending to have a far more exciting life than he does, all while talking about how awesome x is and that you should definitely check those affiliate links down below! At least be fair if you're gonna criticize the guy.

  7. And playing devils advocate, all 3 personally own cameras from the L Mount Alliance with Leigh and Hugh owning Leica SL2's and Tech360 (I forget his name) has or had an original FP. I think I have that right, but all 3 anyway are fans of the system. I think Hugh also has an S5... Gerald is very much a Sony man these days, but nothing wrong with that or his channel, - I watch it quite a bit, respect the guy and don't feel I am ever being sold anything or channelled anywhere and don't begrudge him making a living. It's all just opinions ultimately. Now (for me) S1R or FP-L as a pure photography tool, hmmm...

  8. So Natron we go! As you can see, latest win version with default settings shows no subsampling on enlarged view. The only thing we should care about is filter type in reformat node. It complements original small 558x301 image to FHD with borders around, but centering introduces 0.5 pixel vertical shift due to uneven Y dimension of original image (301 px) so "Impulse" filter type is set for "nearest neighbour" interpolation. If you uncheck "Center" it will place our chart in bottom left corner and remove any influence of "Filter" setting. The funniest thing is that even non-round resize in viewer won't introduce any soft subsampling with these settings. You can notice some pixel line doubling but no soft transitions. And yes, I converted the chart to .bmp because natron couldn't read .gif. It's the only thing you're percieving. Unless you're Neuralink test volunteer, maybe. Well, that's how any kind of compositing is done. CG artist switches back and forth from "fit in view" to any magnification needed for the job, using "1:1" scale to justify real details. Working screen resolution can be any, the more the better, of course, but for the sake of working space for tools, not resolution itself. And this is exactly what Yedlin is doing: sitting in his composing suite of choice (Nuke), showing his nodes and settings, zooming in and out but mostly staying at 1:1, grabbing at resolution he is comfortable with (thus 1920x1280 file - it's a window screen record from larger display) In general: I mostly posted to show one simple thing - you can evaluate footage in 1:1 mode in composer viewer, and round multiple scaling doesn't introduce any false details. I considered it as a given truth. But you questioned it and I decided to check. So, for AE, PS, ffmpeg, Natron and most likely Nuke it's true (with some attention to settings). Сoncerning Yedlin's research - it was made in a very natural way for me, as if I was evaluating footage myself, and it summarised well a general impression I got working on video/movie productions - resolution is not a decisive factor nowdays. Like, for last 5 years I need one hand's fingers to count projects when director/DoP/producer was seeking intentionally for more resolution. You see it wrong or flawed - fine, I don't feel any necessity to change your mind, looks like it's more a kye's battle to fight.

  11. I'm not sure the statements "he's in it for the affiliate links" and to "sell sell sell" holds true when your main complaint is that he's giving a negative review to a deserving product. Just to be absolutely clear, how many of you have tried both the A7r4 and the fp L, and find the fp L to be a better camera, and why? I'm genuinely curious, because as I mentioned before, from my point of view the fp L isn't as strong but the vast majority here seem to know something I don't.

  12. Would you prefer cash or PayPal 😉 Thank you though, thats very kind The Nano motor as is just driven with 5v, from a standard USB power pack for example, is surprisingly decent dependent on the lens that you are using. With the cine primes from Meike like we have here is absolutely perfect. In this multi motor setup we've got it running with a RED cine zoom but we can only use it on the iris and focus as the zoom ring is too tough for it it drive so we have to use the Nucleus-M motor for that. Tilta do a P-Tap to USB cable for it that gives it about a 50% increase in torque so with that it would probably not have an issue. The downside to that though is it becomes a bit more bulky in terms of the power source so if you can drive your lenses with the standard 5v then it is a much neater setup. The problem with using older manual focus lenses is when they have stiffer zones in them and for that you do need more torque. You can just buy the Nano motor on its own but its a good deal when bundled with the Wheel as the wheel does come in useful with the AFX too as we use it to control not just manual focus but give you the option to switch in and out of AF-C mode using its REC key which is quite convenient. With regard to focus gears, there are a lot of resources about how to 3D print your own and Tilta do a range themselves but this company makes custom ones for specific lenses. This is their Voigtlander page https://followfocusgears.com/collections/voigtlander I have never used them so take it as info rather than endorsement !

  13. I don't care about the technical specs of X gear or absolute technical quality of the image. Dude is clearly a gearhead. He shares no narratives (a review is analytical, not narrative work). So no, his review says nothing to me. But this type of "content" is what goes today by high-quality: talk about specs with the intention is to sell sell sell. Show some graphs. Record a quick v-log. Make you push that buy button. It's not a hobby, it's their job as influencers. That's why this blog is still relevant, even if the author takes six or twelve months to review X new camera 😅. At least I know he's not writing for the ad revenue and hot Amazon-BH-Adorama link.

  14. Good point. However, I sold an old cam, bought crypto(Ethereum), allowed it to appreciate, sold and bought an upgrade.

  16. I don't see the big deal. It's free content where he pretty thoroughly tells you about a camera. Use your brain to decide if its right for your artistry. Rent the gear and try it out. Andrews beef was he compared it to Sony A7R series and judged it by that and not just let it stand on its own. Perhaps Gerald should stop giving buying advise and just stick to telling you facts about operating modes and handling and use cases based on the time he had with it. The ALEXA Mini is a terrible camera when you try to shoehorn it into a consumer A7 series criteria checkbox list (no grip, no EVF, hard to hand hold) It's just a different tool.

  21. It’s an untapped market. They figured that the problem existed from their previous cameras burning and blistering their customer’s faces... now Canon is getting into the game... it’s only natural... a true professional doesn’t have time to run to the fridge for an ice pack. This is perfect for run and gun facecooling!!! This is how you introduce a problem that never existed in the first place... and solve it too... brilliant.

  23. Andrew, you're a smart guy. So I guess you're just pretending not to know the real reason. Welcome to the WOKE SOCIETY. No one is allowed to be different anymore. Free speech? Not any more! Still believe in biology? You MUST be canceled, then. We've come full circle and Galileo is to be locked up in the tower again for daring to be a rebel....a CORRECT rebel at that. So even though the FP and FP-L are in fact amazing cameras we live in a world of little snowflalkes.... but snowflakes that must ALL BE ALIKE.... even though everyone knows no two are alike. Boys can be girls, girls can be boys, but don't you dare praise a camera for being unique. It's the UNwoke camera. Welcome to Alice in Wonderland where things are backwards and upside-down and common sense makes no sense to so many. I ran out and purchased an FP months ago in large part due to your excellent review and praise and it's one of the coolest little cameras I've ever owned. It can be a stripped-down convertible or a laced-up high performance racer depending on how I kit it out. Appreciate your defense of the little guy but they will never "get" it.
