    z cam m4?

I have a Zcam E2-M4 as well. There is a great 3 part review by Adam Wilt here: https://www.provideocoalition.com/review-z-cam-e2-m4-mft-cine-camera-part-1/ Things that I love about the E2-M4 are: 1. Sony sensor. Z-Cam color science. Great low light. Great color rendition. Great slow motion at 4k120p, no line skipping. Good dynamic ranging with using Zlog or Flat profile. 2. 10-bit color to Pro-Res, (with the latest firmware) at all frame rates. 3. High resolution, decently low lag wireless HDMI to their iPhone app for monitoring and control. 4. It's a perfectly balanced cube. Better for mounting on a gimbal, and the wireless monitoring/control helps with the gimbal as well. Cinema camera form factor. No fans so it is completely silent. 5. Stereo mic level audio recording with phantom power via 5-pin XLR or 2 x XLR 3-pin to 5-pi n lemo adapter cable. 6. It can take a large battery mounted on the back.

    z cam m4?

I would not say that is true. On Blackmagic you have a big touchscreen and lots of buttons and dial within finger reach. On Z Cam you will do more menu hunting and moving hands around to reach buttons, plus the rigging and wiring for a monitor makes it more awkward. For handheld a handle like the Rvlvr Clutch is useful with its custom dials.

  3. I've just read your last updates of this morning, I am proud of you and my bet, I. @BTM_Pix Tomorrow, there will be a new one which means SERVICE we fight to have from anywhere else, kudos to this endeavour! A customer of yours is really supported as due, it is simply a no-brainer for early adopters as much as any newcomer here. Just my two cents, E :- )

    Favorite lenses FD 24 1.4L

Yeah, the price of these lenses have skyrocketed. Have a look at the asking price for the nFD 24mm f/2... it's over $1000... that lens could be bought for around $200 a little over a year ago. They've gotten so high, I am seriously considering selling my EF modified 50mm 1.2 L.

    Teaser for my new doc

This weekend I went through the film with a friend who's an audio guy, and he's cleaned things up beyond belief. My mix sounds total trash in comparison.... In the next week or so I'm going to upload a re-graded, and remixed version of the trailer that looks and sounds a lot better. Thanks everyone for your comments, support and feedback, it's been very helpful!

  7. Thank you Ben. I used this simple "super8" rig style. It is very easy to attach and dettach the pistol grip and the viewfinder, so I had it all in a dslr bag. Totally agree! I thought many times to buy a second hand C300 or C100MkII for the usability (good audio preamps, internals nds, high capacity batteries)...but I knew that I would not like those clipping highlights that reminds me an old Canon DSLR when I had to edit and do the color grading. Thank you!. I think exactly the same as you. I have a GH4 and I had and an A7s (I also worked many times with A7sii, A7iii, Fs5 and Fs7) and a GH5s, and I had to spend a lot of time reasearching in internet and testing, to get a more filmic texture and good skintones from them. Also, I think that the old blackmagics are the best (cheap) cameras for mixing light (and poor CRI) conditions. Now I am preparing a documentary and I have convinced the director to shoot with the micro and the old pocket for various reasons, one of them is that due to the fear of covid some of the protagonists refuse the make up to avoid a person so close, and I know that blackmagics cameras will help with skintones.

  8. Yep, fair enough. I can kind of see where you're coming from

  9. Take it with a grain of salt, BUT despite the clickbaity title (which is totally intentional), it's a solid piece of advice and shows how a professional DP tackles basic color grading.

  10. This is a bit rough---first time shooting in Reid's in-camera Z-log. But one thing I learned from this: Andrew's Z-Log provides a far superior dynamic range in-camera than Nikon's in-camera "flat" profile. Reid's Z-log holds plenty of detail in the lows, and protects the highlights very well. Even if you use or don't use the LUTS you come up with good quality clips---which I'm SURE anyone could grade better than I. This video was shot entirely in Andrew's cinema Z-log and hand graded--no lut. All hand held using an EF to Z mount adapter with Rokinon 1.4 lenses.
