  2. These guys pretend they don't get "paid" by Sony. But they get all the gear they want from them, newly released gear to review, lenses to test/sample, in exchange for positive reviews. They might not be told to write a positive review, but good luck getting more gear if you trash them. Sony knows who to send gear to, because they know these youtubers are desperate to continue to receive gear to review. Sony gear videos get higher views on youtube so its the brand they want to continue to pimp. So yes they might not be "paid" by sony, but by getting all this gear to test and review from sony for free, it saves the reviewers thousands of dollars. Youtubers are the new age used car salesman.

  3. I just wanted to let you guys know that Color Finale released a plug-in for FCPX called Transcoder which processes CDNG, BRaw and Arriraw files. It also works with CDNG files transcoded from Magic Lantern Raw .mlv files and it will even recognize MLVFS. It's on sale for $38 today until midnight. I haven't seen it mentioned here before, so I figured I'd share. The controls are fairly rudimentary, but they've already updated the plug-in a couple times, so who knows how extensive it will become. Just to give you an idea, here are a couple sample shots I came up with after processing ML Raw files. I had to do a slight contrast and saturation adjustment in the Color Board... otherwise they're processed completely in Color Finale Transcoder... Zeiss ZF 50mm 1.4... Sigma 50mm 1.4 (older version)

  4. Most of those people don't really "vlog." They mostly just sit in their "studios" and talk to the camera, making all of those things pretty pointless to have.

    Sony A7S III is noisy

Gerald released his “What Cameras are Other Youtubers Using” video and 85% of them were using A7SIII in a studio with controlled lighting. Second was A1, and then S5, R5, and RED Monstro. Maybe 10% of them would use the A7SIII out in the wild where the crazy 12,800 ISO is useful. Power of hype machine and branding dollars to spend.

  8. I get why they made it the second native ISO, since it is meant for ultra low light situations, but I agree 12,800 is too high for most people. I think most folks that bought the A7siii would've been just as better off waiting for an A7IV. It never made a ton of sense to me for these people, many who never shoot outside their "studio" or in anything other than sunlight, to get a camera meant for low light conditions but that's YouTube these days.
