  1. PJ is clearly impressed - has even used it on a paying job.

  2. If you don't have any EF lenses I would go straight to RF, they are better after all. Not just in sharpness, but also autofocus and stabilization. The 24-70 2.8 is of course a safe but fairly expensive choice. The non-L primes is a good option if you've got a smaller budget. The 24-105 4.0 is half the price of the 24-70 and is also sharp. There isn't really any right or wrong choice among the RF lenses, it depends more on your shooting style.

  3. Have to say it looks really cool! Not sure how many lenses you can actually fit onto this thing but the feature set looks amazing. Really good ideas they combined into one package. The LIDAR wave AF system is really innovative too, plus the wireless transmission. 0% chance I can actually own one but I'm still excited about the advancements, hopefully it will spur others to actually innovate!

    Alexa Bargain

Yeah, it's pretty crazy that in some ways (not weight or battery life, admittedly) that the Alexa is the easiest thing to use next to an iPhone. Simple intuitive interface, simple workflows in post. Makes me miss the simplicity of t2i neutral, which always looked good.

  7. It can't be useful for any pro project, but many pros would love to use it. At least somebody is thinking out of the box in the industry.

  8. Pixel 6 is official and both models (starting from $599) have a bigger sensor than the iPhone 13 Pro duo and can even do 4-to-1 binning. This enables it to do HDR 4K60p, so I can't wait for the reviews. Previous iterations were very "meh".

  9. Photos in the first half, were a totally different vibe, I am guessing you set up different lighting for that? The video quality in the 2nd half was miles ahead of the 1st half! Good stuff

    The end of EOSHD

Andrew! I only recently became a member on the forum, but I’ve been following the blog since I stumbled upon it somewhere between 2013 and 2015. The pandemic has really destroyed my sense of time, apologies. My first comment was only earlier this year and it was unfortunately antagonistic. However, it was regarding creative and artistic philosophies, my primary field of study in university. It was a far more engaging topic of discussion than anywhere else I’d experienced on the internet in the world of camera and lens reviews. Something Eoshd, and I’m sure you, Andrew, understands is the reality of a creative heart that needs access to properly expressive tools at an affordable price point. From entry level to pro, you have asked the question; “How can this tool best serve the artistry?” And that is an honorable endeavor in any age. I want to say thank you. Thank you for making all of this accessible when I didn’t even go to film school. From the magic lantern hacks you covered, to the ground breaking gh4, to pushing for impartial industry journalism, I’m very grateful for all of it. I hope for nothing but the best for you moving forward. You’ve brought joy and consolation to so many of us and I’m sure all of us want the same for you. You helped me become a full time filmmaker. Thank you. Hoping you find what you need, Zachary James Martinez A M D G

  12. If I was mainly photo the S1R would be the way to go. They sell for less that the S1s and S5s on the second hand market Moving from Fuji XT3, there was and is a definite ‘upgrade’ from APSC to FF, but it’s not especially big and no viewer would notice. The 24mp FF sensor is maybe 10-15% better IMO in low light and back lit situations compared with Fuji’s 26mp crop sensor, but I’d say Fuji’s colour is better by a small margin, so swings and roundabouts as they say. But the jump from 24 to 47mp is much more noticeable. Again, it’s not anything that anyone would really notice on-line or on social media etc, but it’s very noticeable to yourself and if you care about such things as I do… The colour is also better from the 47mp sensor. I have not seen anyone mention that one but IMO, it’s not just the improved resolution, but there’s something in this 47mp sensor wherever it’s coming from…and that seems to be a bit of a mystery except it’s probably the same as the Leica SL2 and Q2 but with some slightly thinner piece of glass/a layer with the Leica version? And it’s not the Goliath unit some folks make it out to be… Maybe with the 50mm f1.4 I am leaning towards, but we’ll see next year. @IronFilm I’m sticking with my original Go for now as the combo with the lav mics & Sony recorders has been working mostly OK this year and it’s more a case of having backups due to others muppetry!

  13. Why not their latest Rode Go with internal recording? Do consider instead the Zoom F2-BT (or Tentacle Track E), they're still very very affordable, but all round much much better designed as bodypack recorders. Plus they've both got timecode functionality, making it easier (extra safety net) to sync it up with your timecode capable Panasonic S1H.
