  1. The 12k is definitely a great offer. I can't help but think a full frame camera would have flown off their shelves. But I do love the 12k sensor tech. Hope to see more from them with that sensor technology.

  2. EOS R makes the most sense to me. The crop in 4K actually works in your favor because the majority of your lenses are EF-S lenses anyways, which are APSC and not full frame. It is much easier to adapter vintage lenses with the RF mount too. So the EOS R is more future proof. Or you can try out other brands as suggested by other posts. Panasonic and Sony are both great camera brands for videography, for example.

Some Voigtlander 40mm f1.4 M mount stuff on the Sigma fp from a recent trip to the frozen-ish north to see the in laws. The vignette and slight softness when shooting wide open makes it quite suitable for festive stuff ! Didn't shoot RAW so these are grabs from 4K all-i mov files.

  4. I don't have gx9 to test, but its really easy and safe to test. You will know that you are in a stealth mode when the screen does not show the recording mode and you generate those corrupted movs.

  5. Merry Christmas, Andrew. I'm stoked that you've decided to continue to put your valuable time and energy in to this site. I've been here since 2015 and have really enjoyed the interaction. Can't wait to see what you have in store. Thank you for all your past hard work.

  6. Hey nice to hear you have seen the light, no pun, and saved us from the common horseshit reviews and such on the old innerweb. There is just so much good stuff to look forward to not to be involved in it. And Merry Christmas from across the pond. Now I won't be bored to death this winter. Thank you thank you.

  7. Welcome back and Merry Christmas, I was a bit worried about you after the last couple of posts and I've seen the effect social media can have on some other people I follow. there is a photographer in the Lakes (Rob Parson: Just a walker with a camera) who I follow and who almost gave up last year after criticism online but he "pulled through" after realizing his words and pictures actually matter to more people than those who don't agree with him (and if you don't agree with somebody just don't follow them... simple). so keep it going, speak your mind and don't let the bastards grind you down.

  8. I 2nd the 2 above - Wandering DP and Epic Light Media. The Aputure youtube channel have a lot of good tutorials and "Gaffer and Gear" has some fantastic info on lighting too. Also - probably even more importantly if you're trying to make a living out of it - research SEO (particularly local SEO). Having an effective website that actually generates leads is far more important for making a living than knowing how to shoot like Daniel Schiffer, or how many Skypanels were used on the latest Audi commercial.

  9. Just grabbed a used SVMX on eBay. It’s in pretty rough shape cosmetically but I got a decent price (£290) and doubt I’ll ever be looking to sell it on so as long as it works perfectly I’m happy. Thanks for all the advice everyone!
