  2. I am not naturally good with superlatives. So on many levels, its great, most would agree i think. As far as i am aware the human eye does not notice flicker quite the same as cameras do. My eyes don't anyway, but i digress. I think its a bit unfair to draw attention to something the eye doesn't see, but maybe thats just me. Leds are a recent invention, to say a city look is now defined by pulsing leds, seems odd to me. While we are all being artsy, cinematic and technical, personally i am not sure that a scene benefits from the added realism of flicker. If viewers need an additional layer to tell them its a city, either someone has done their job incorrectly or God help the human race. Lastly lets not forget a very small percentage of people will be adversely affected by that flicker that some camera has captured. They could have walked down that street or scene and normally been none the wiser or worse off, but watching it now will suffer vertigo, nausea or go troppo perhaps. Ok its a bit extreme that last statement, however it won't take much to have people switch off.

  3. Gee I don't know what to say. Well certainly thanks is in order. Yeah i missed you guys also. I went though some scary ass medical problems, actually died for a bit, but I guess too mean to die too long so hey here I am. Sepsis shock just about did me in. It knocks you down in just about every organ you have so at my age, nearly 75 now, hard to crawl back, well I never will make it back to what I was, and I have just aged the more since, happens you know. But actually right now I am really not doing too bad. My mother died a few months ago, my one daughter just had double mastectomy with breast cancer, well not much fun not counting this God Damn Pandemic. Just what the hell I needed lol. So I have been sort of out of it for a bit, literally, bummed out for a bit and working my way back. I am reorganizing my camera, video gear for less heft, and a little more creativity. Nobody knows how long you will live but I know I am running out of time so I just want to have a bit of fun while I can. So I came back here to be re educated and reunite with some of my old friends, which I have had very few of in my life. I hope I can contribute a little past knowledge, screw ups and all, plenty of those, and have a few good forward thinking threads evolve. And maybe a few fireworks to add to the fire. Hey I am still Don you know. But yeah I have mellowed a bit trust me. I went out though the tunnel and saw what few have seen and felt, and for the limited time was super peaceful and intriguing. I think I was going up and not down like a lot of people thought would happen. 😬

  4. Hi guys ! At start sorry for my English. I'm first person in my city who rent a a7iv for test (Poland), Warsaw) and start talking to people about overheating problems In my opinion a7iv is good camera but have few problems which will be out soon. All reviews are wrong and they lie about test and time of long recording. I didn't have much time for all test but few my test bellow!. Please do your own test and write in comments tripod + open screen, temp set to HIGH 4k HS 200 Mbps 50fps (AF-C when nobody sitting on front of camera) Nothing bad happened and first original battery finish after 1h:34min and i change to second battery and stopped the test after 1h50min > I got a better time than stated by SONY ( +25min) I wait until camera cold down (30 min) and start another test with fresh battery tripod + open screen, temp set to HIGH 4k HS 200 Mbps 50fps (AF-C when my friend was on the front of camera for all the time and eye tracking need to work ) Camera show after 35min overheating icon and turn off in 55min > I got a worse time than stated by SONY ( -15min) * For sure the time of recording with active AF-C is less then on SONY website https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/2110/v1/pl/contents/TP0002922662.html?fbclid=IwAR0-7-VTkXG6ENh9aArqD8eGcJccNib5I7KEBP_Avchury7Z2dl_BijEKvM **I'm afraid it will much worse in summer when we gonna run and gun with AF-C and IBIS. Hand-held will accelerate heating issue (what do you think ?) POWER USB DON'T WORK CORRECTLY TEST 1 POWER USB tripod + open screen, temp set to HIGH 4k HS 200 Mbps, 50fps record 25min and turn off (overheating) (AF-C when my friend was on the front of camera for all the time and eye tracking need to work ) > I got a worse time than stated by SONY ( -45 min) !!! * Time between POWER USB 30 min and always fresh original battery TEST 2 POWER USB tripod + open screen, temp set to HIGH (AF-C when my friend was on the front of camera for all the time and eye tracking need to work ) 4k HS 100 Mbps, 50pfs record 17min and turn off (overheating) > the shortest time I got. I have problem with my a7iv or SONY screwed up * Time between POWER USB 30 min and always fresh original battery TEST 3 POWER USB tripod + open screen, temp set to HIGH (this time i check manual focus MF) 4k HS 100 Mbps, 50fps record 17min and turn off (overheating) > I got a worse time than stated by SONY ( -105 min) !!! The same setting like above but without POWER USB , and on AF-C, (fresh battery) tripod + open screen, temp set to HIGH 4k HS 100 Mbps, 50fps record 1h 30 min. and turn off (overheating) (AF-C when my friend was on the front of camera for all the time and eye tracking need to work ) > I got a worse time than stated by SONY ( -50 min) !!! But after 5 min cold down and changing battery he record again 1h and sd card v90 finish. >>>My conclusions and thoughts<<< 1) All tests carried out by YouTubers are wrong. They record record the wall (item) not human (AF-C and eye tracking) , so should should not be taken seriously. ( You know $$$) 2) Generally, the shooting times of 4k 200 Mbps where the AF-C really needs to work are below the guaranteed times. 3) The shooting times 4k HS 100 Mbps, 50fps where the AF-C really needs to work are HIGHLY below the guaranteed times. 4) USB POWER DON'T WORK CORRECTLY 5) I believe that the results of shooting by handhald may be even worse because there will be a problem with the cooling of the a7iv in the hands 6) I believe that the situation with the overheating of the a7iv in the summer could be much worse and we need to have that in the mind before buy. So far, I cannot perform any more tests and I would like to remind you that such results can only occur with me! However, I will be pleased to know your results, provided that you do not record the wall and you do not work for SONY. XAVC HS 4K 200 Mbps 50fps - record 55min (tripod, af-c) (sony write 1 h 10 min) XAVC HS 4K 100 Mbps 50fps - record 1h30min (tripod, af-c) (sony write 2 h 20 min) USB POWER - max 25 min record Is it ok and worth buying? Is it better to wait and see how the situation unfolds? I leave it to you, but one thing is for sure, the Internet reviews sucks and you shouldn't trust the reviews and read the comments with caution and an open mind. .

  5. Hello to everyone on the forum! A Merry Christmas from me! I hope you're looking forward to having a good break over the holidays and are ready to welcome in 2022. Talking of holidays - I have been having a break from EOSHD for a few months. I went and sat on a hill and finally had time to reflect on my work which is this blog and the community around it. The last video had a lot of support, it's made me really appreciate what I have in a more positive light. I'm mega appreciative of the people who took the time to say how EOSHD has helped them over the years and that they want it to continue. So that's what we'll do! EOSHD is back. 6. Some nice family beach footage shot recently by the cinematographer Tiago Pimentel on original BMPCC on a Crane3s gimbal with a Zeiss 21mm ZF.2 lens; he graded it in Resolve and used one of Resolve's built-in Kodak emulations.

  7. There's always a bit of inertia when it comes to user habits, not everybody likes to live on the cutting edge and will prefer to pick up something they're familiar with, tried and tested. 5D IV will soon drop off though, give it a couple of years.

  8. Boy I have been there a lot of times. Only place I know of that a Hot Dog costs more money there than a T Bone steak on the Mainland. Captiva is even worse. I lived in Fort Myers, North Fort Myers for 12 years. Sanibel is the seashell capital of nearly the whole world. People make 10,000s of dollars a year hunting shells there.

  9. Well I i agree with you but I think the reason they depreciate some much so quickly is 2 reasons, 1. Sony makes a better one 6 months later, and 2. Sony sold a Hell of a lot of the ones before the new one. Catch 22 lol. Back in the day rental houses had to order new shelving just to hold all the FS5s and FS7s everyone wanted to rent.

  10. How to with John Wilson is shot with that camera. It definitely has a video look, especially in that show. It is certainly a deal. Sony cameras depreciate like no other.

  11. Jesus I think the quality of the footage looks like something my original Sony A7s would and can shoot. I will give it credit that it is an unusual vantage point that was taken that I would have never maybe thought to do unless I lived on that street and was wheelchair bound. And that equates to an interesting video no doubt crazy to say. But I would surely hope this doesn't win some worldwide film festival and become some sort of "C" change in shooting styles using a great camera and somewhat making it look like an eight year old product. Now again I sort of like it, but hell greatness, ehh....

  12. Interesting. I've heard people say they compared images and they were basically the same, so assuming that's true then similar/same is good enough unless someone is planning on taking theirs apart and re-programming or re-using the chip in a different circuit - otherwise knowing the exact model number really doesn't matter 🙂 Great chip though. Pity there isn't a camera with the 2022 version of the chip. Considering how good it was at the time it would be spectacular with a decade of further development added to it.

  13. I enjoyed reviewing the various links. Overall I'm reminded of McLuhan's idea of hot and cold media. The idea that less data is more involving: TV less dense than film, b&W less dense than colour. The less dense a medium the more the viewer has to become involved. As well it brings to mind Wyndham Lewis' school of Vorticism- dependant on line.

  14. If anyone is curious, I just finished up a piece shot about 50 percent with the pocket. This was graded by a colorist. The other half is Super 8 and there's maybe 4/5 shots with the GH5. This might not make sense if you don't live in Seattle but maybe relatable. Anyway. Shot with the OG bmpcc. "An experiental piece about a population coming to terms with a rapidly changing city."
