Amazing image quality on the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra Take a look at the full res 4K RAW frame A crop of it below: It has all the characteristics you'd expect from RAW on the original Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera but in 4K! Noise is quite manageable up to ISO 1600. File sizes are around 3.8-4MB per frame though, so make sure you try this on a phone with a lot of built in storage 🙂 Not tried the pixel binned or 1080p modes yet. Also has a feature to crop the aspect ratio to a cinemascope style one, which may reduce file sizes. Didn't seem to change my end-recording though which was 4080 x 2152. On the Mi 11 Ultra, it reported 24p as officially compatible But also said 120p and 48p 4K may work too. Much to explore here.3 points -

Bingo. You win @homestar_kevin! Congrats to bragging rights. Indecently, how do you like your Sony VCL-ECU1? I checked out some videos on it, but most people just said they got it because the DMC-GWC1 wasn't for sale anymore. I had been looking for a used one for roughly 4 years (off and on). I finally found one a few weeks ago and the guy wanted a direct transfer... (a bit risky) but I did it and he followed through. As I mentioned above, I cannot believe that we don't have a better solution as this set up dates back to 2012. I saw a few others available over the years, but they were just asking too much or they were too far away. Here it is on my GM1 (as my Olympus E-P7 had to go into the shop for IBIS recalibration). The AF is working almost flawlessly on my E-M1 ii with tracking and face-detect on. I have to make a few more tests, but I like what I see. Also, as it was designed for this lens, everything is super easy to take on and off. I'm going to try adding some ND on it now, but it should be a challenge as there are no filter threads (nothings perfect).2 points

Mi 10 is the cheap alternative. Usually on eBay for under $300 It shoots near identical video specs to the Mi 11 Ultra including 8K but the sensor is a bit smaller and lacks the periscope 5x folding optics. Sensor still massive compared to an iPhone though. I've been very impressed with it in 10bit 6K LOG and 8K H.265. The mc24 app is a good place to start for high bitrate video. Not tested the RAW app with it yet but will do soon.2 points -
I'm curious too. I get there just over the 150g weight limit with the panasonic 14mm 2.5 with the Sony VCL-ECU1 on front. That works out to around 10.5mm but the converter is 125g and lens is 55g, so 170g together. I'm also unsure if the converter knocks it down to below f/2.8, but I like using the combo.2 points

Unimaginable tech in an item that is so small. I have no clue how people can be so smart to be able to design something like it.2 points -
Correction: According to Canon, C70 Cinema RAW Light recording will be internal to the SD card: https://www.canon.co.uk/video-cameras/eos-c70/?fbclid=IwAR2nBNoajqaNaIfH_u0du_JtTESFDUEEjCauYmzFwG1wGoxkgLjGc00TtY4 Cinema RAW light The EOS C70 now offers users the ability to capture Cinema RAW Light internally to SD cards*. RAW provides you with greater image quality and flexibility in post-production. On-top of the existing 10-bit XF-AVC currently found in the EOS C70, 12-bit Cinema RAW Light LT features data rates up to 645Mbps, offering much more manageable/efficient file sizes to streamline your workflow, while retaining the same benefits of RAW. Simultaneous recording of Cinema RAW Light and XF-AVC Proxies is also supported. * firmware available in March 20222 points

It's illegal to talk about Panasonic and mention anything other than their poor AF. This is your first and only official warning.2 points

In the spirit of M43 geekery, I'm asking you this question: What is the only M43 native lens, under 150g, capable of wider than 12mm, yet has AF and a wider aperture than f/2.8? It would seem the demand would be high for such a lens. I cannot believe that it's 2022 and I believe there's only one. What is it?1 point

Simplistic tough talk and hyperbole fill this apparent announcement page. No doubt the marketing person who wrote this is a thoroughly experienced shooter.1 point

CM1 is outdated now because of Android 4.0, so very little will work. Although it has the 1.0 type sensor and uses all of it, it's quite an old sensor in video terms with no 4K at normal frame rates. It maxes out at 15fps. So the slow sensor and slow processor, and lack of computational imaging, frame merging, or advanced HDR capabilities really hold it back. In some instances an iPhone from 2 or 3 years ago will beat it for stills, and certainly for video. So take a look at the latest Xiaomi and OnePlus stuff instead 🙂1 point -

In my experience, as the F to EF adapters are by necessity reasonably thin, then they are so tight that the challenge of getting them off again is far bigger than the challenge of keeping them on and secure !1 point -

How many of you have used and how many of you have missed it? What's the beef? No ultimate fastest phone chip...?! ; ) I am using a €700 OnePlus 9 Pro Snapdragon 888 very successfully BTW ;- ) 25fps is not going now with the last version (8.0.7-beta2) since it says it is unsupported by my device, so I am using 24fps then. They should likely be pretty accurate on spot but bugs look like fixed, even along a beta version. And shutter speed is now possible to set up along ISO without any (variable and inaccurate) issues (from previous version since four days ago : ) We have now 1/48, go figure! ;- ) That is, pure and simple photography is finally possible on a smartphone! (you still have AF or how to lock it!) This is plainly the best software ever made for really mobile cinematography, period! :- ) I am fairly enthusiastic on this tool indeed : X https://github.com/mirsadm/motioncam/releases This requires a bit more of attention and support from y'all without exception or pick one: you're the last elitist on earth or you don't have a smartphone? ...or yet, no, I am not missing anything else on here : D1 point -

Based on NOT having access to the service manual for the FP or the EVF11....... The USB-C port is more than likely a simple pass through rather than being used for power/control of the EVF11. You can test this by putting a USB-C cable from the FP to the EVF11 and then another one from that into an external SSD. If the EVF11 doesn't power on and the camera can still see and use the SSD then that will confirm it. Based on it not being powered from the USB-C port then the presumption is it is being powered from the two pogo pins, with one of them being power and the other one obviously being ground. From tracing the connection from the pins of the HU11 flash interface to its hotshoe just now, the ground pin (unless there is some internal re-mapping) is the middle pin on the bottom row of the FP which would mean the one adjacent to it (as the pogo pins are horizontal on the EVF11) should be the power. However, I can't tell from the images of the EVF11 (as I don't have one unfortunately) whether this is on the one to the left or right but you should be able to determine that when you offer it up to the FP for connection. Once that is established, you should be able to measure the voltage coming from the FP to determine what external power you will need to provide. If there is no control information between the FP and the EVF11 through the USB port then it will be being provided through the HDMI port's data control channel. If I was going to look at hacking the EVF (heaven forbid, obviously) then I would start with extending out the connections from the FP to it in the same way as with the USB-C port before looking at the power as that offers the least chance of blowing up the FP and/or the EVF11. So, put some clips between the pogo pins of the FP and the EVF11 and an HDMI cable in between too. You can then remove the HDMI cable and see what happens both with it going to fresh air but then also what happens if you plug it into another HDMI device, what happens when you plug it back into the FP etc. This should tell you if there is any specific data communication over HDMI from the FP to the EVF11 that prevents it working with any source as if it does that then there isn't much point going on to the power aspect. If it does work with another HDMI source whilst being powered from the FP then you might still not be out of the woods as there could be an initial handshake that is happening prior to you changing source so the next test would be to power it on with the other source already connected and see if it still works. If it does then you are only looking at the power situation but obviously proceed absolutely at your own risk with that both from the initial measuring side on the FP to then building something custom based on that to power the EVF11.1 point

Have you checked out the Portkeys LEYE ? There's also a version with SDI. It's more expensive, but I think it'd be worth it instead of going through converters. They also have a bigger EVF, The OEYE which can control RED menus, but that's much more expensive.1 point

@leslie You could also get a cheapo focal reducer with 0.71 factor instead for less than 90USD. Yeah, following the route BTMPix is describing has all the mentioned advantages. A single adapter solution could provied better fit without the jiggle of a seconde adapter and without uncertainties such as lacklaster infinity focus due to mediocore quality of second adapter and so on.1 point

It might sound counter intuitive but, even though you've got F mount lenses, I'd look at getting the EF version instead and using an F to EF adapter on it. The reason being is that you get no electronic control of Nikon lenses with the Nikon version anyway so you aren't losing anything there but what you will gain is more flexibility by being able to put EF lenses on it as well, where you will get electronic control from the P4K. So, if you do get any EF or EF-S lenses, you will be able to use aperture control and one shot AF but also take advantage of the IS on the lens if it has it, which can be a boon with the P4K. With the EF mount being shallower than the F mount, there is no lens you can adapt to F that you can't also adapt to EF so you don't lose anything there either. On the contrary, you actually gain several mount options, including C/Y and M42, that can be adapted to EF with simple adapters whereas you would need adapters with optical elements to use them with Nikon F and maintain infinity focus.1 point

Yeah the A7s even today is a pretty amazing camera. Main reason I like one is you can change up your whole mindset on shooting stuff nobody really can do, night time stuff, bars churches, on and on. It just opens up so many more opportunities, plus they are grungy looking and that adds to the excitement to try something you have never done. They are a very special camera. Plus I think photos out them have a great look aslo.1 point -
I joined EOSHD in 2015. I´m sure I remember that right. To find this video now, which back then stunned with its kinetic energy and beauty, its choice and combination of images, its rhythm and synergy with sound and music. So I guess this bump is like the goose bumps, which it gave to me back then- it is very, very obvious.:)1 point
