  1. Hole in one. Maybe it’s just me, but only the shutter button makes any sense to me!

  2. I've been working remote since pre-pandemic. The question isn't whether I like hopping on a zoom call, it's whether I prefer it over commuting 50 minutes each way in rush hour traffic. Depends on who is doing the saving. The huge companies that own and rent out offices definitely don't like it. I much prefer working from my couch, 10 feet from my kitchen, than in an office!

  3. Prime, okay boomer opportunity. I do think that Covid made VR, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, do damn tired. The last thing I want to do is stare at another screen or “hop on a zoom call.”

  4. To elaborate a bit for those who don't understand what I meant, corner warping happens when a camera uses five-axis stabilization to stabilize an ultra-wide angle lens. It doesn't happen with three-axis in-body stabilization. When using the Lens-stabilization option of the Panasonic IBIS system, it allows the lens to stabilize in three axis, and the camera stabilizes in two axis. Thus reducing the corner warping.

  5. Yes, I was very surprised for the last part... I've done some other test with this sequence with other environment and the best part for me is that i can change the location importig other world and my subject will be aligned perfectly with the floor... This will greatly speed up my work when I will combine multiple scenes.. Unfortunately I have not found a way to make the file of the mobile phone perfectly match that of the mirrorless, probably the problem is due to the fact that the mobile phone films at variable framerate while the a6300 at fixed framerate ... Even comparing the two files in resolve, without doing anything, you can see that they have different times .. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but at the moment I have to settle for the mobile phone file, which is unfortunately really bad, also because the application records at most in 1080p ... Now I'm trying to upscale the video with python to see if it improves a bit, but even if it doesn't matter, I have a mind to make a little movie where both the locations and my son will have a cartoon effect, so that the definition is a secondary problem ...

Ah, I don’t mean the genre or how the actual movie compares to it’s predecessors or the Marvel franchise, but the sheer level of filmmaking as purely just that, filmmaking. Along with Dune, the most ‘cinematic’ (combo of visual + soundtrack + sound design) movie I have ever seen. Can’t wait to watch it again at home in a few months without the distracting French subtitles we have to endure with anything shown here in France with VO (version originale) language. It’s pretty stunning and has been likened to something more akin to an indie movie that has been made available to the masses than your typical Blockbuster. Watch it and then judge it!

  7. I have had this lens now for about 3 weeks, shot a few different types of scenes, and am really impressed with quality and over all ease of use. Canon's VR utility renders/converts the video and pictures much faster than I thought it would. Though some of you old guys (yeah I'm 51, bite me) are sounding like my grandfather did when TV's showed up on the scene...."nobody's gonna waste time with that thing" or "What kind of idiot just sits on the couch and looks into a box?".... well between Facebook (Meta), Microsoft, and Disney there are literally billions of dollar getting dumped into this format because it is clear to them, and me, that in the next 3-5 years damn near half the people you know will have some form of VR gear in their family or household. It really is incredible if you let yourself actually consider the ramifications. I took my first picture in a family party setting, a few days ago I took my Oculus over there to share those clips and pics and literally everyone was amazed to be "in" that party again, seeing everything exactly as it was like you're standing in that spot again. In fact my uncle, the oldest person there, was the one to point out how absolutely amazing it would be to be standing in his childhood home again, looking at his brothers and sisters and seeing it all again "like time traveling to the past" is what he said. I don't think many people are recognizing this aspect of VR yet, but it's going to be huge. I've already had my first wedding party request a VR shoot, I might make this the focus of my future photography business.
