  1. Went to Sony land. More or less satisfied. Any system has its pros and cons. A7SIII does many things sufficiently to make money with. Also went with FX6 for a bigger camera but I only use it on sticks. Otherwise I use a gimbal with the A7SIII. Depending on your style the IBIS may work - it's decent for static shots, but for walking shots it's not so great unless you're using a gimbal. On the other hand if you can live with the current process for the gyro stabilization, you can use that as well. I much prefer what I can get out of the Sony color wise. I use the usual slog3 except I typically use the Phantom luts, although I must say I don't like the current version and still use the older version. I will say that the NR is very heavy handed in low light. Since COVID times I haven't done any events so I haven't explored that area myself, but I know the A7III I used was streets ahead of the GH5 so I think I'll be fine. I really hated the color and DR from my GH5 even if the weight and IBIS were good. Most GH5 footage seems to be from either (no offense) wannabe filmmakers where the grade always looks like something is wrong with the contrast curve, or from videographers who don't have an eye for color. There's a few people who can make it sing and I definitely couldn't, but maybe you can. Otherwise the S5 low light looked very very good color wise, but there's the trash Panasonic AF and the lens selection... Manual focus during fast paced weddings - good luck for the average person.

  2. Played around with some BMMCC raw. Exited to compare them both. My C-mount adapter was paid four weeks ago. Now it says it is back on its way to land of origin. Anyway fiddling with raw in Resolve is so much fun. Btw, I had found another Eos M with the 15-55, an EF adapter, three batteries for 125EU. I was gonna go for it for having the adapter. But I asked the guy if he would sell the package for 115. But he didnt answer and next day it was gone. Of course:) The go for cheap. Grab them while they´re hot. I got mine with one battery for 75EUR.

  3. In this case it was more complicated to combine the two videos ... You have to perfectly orient the direction of travel otherwise it seems that you walk too fast or slowly ... Even with the aspect ratio it was not easy ... What do you think?

  4. Then they would have defeated the purpose of the GH5s.

  5. I have an S1, an S1H, and I still have a GH5 as a loaner for other filmmakers I work with, and because I have been working on the same project for a few years - so I haven't had a chance to shoot something in 4:3 yet! I had an S5 briefly but found it hard to hit critical focus. One thing that I love about the S line is the Fotodiox ND Throttle adapter, which essentially gives me an EF mount with a built in variable ND behind the lens. I have the L mount 24-105 but I never really use it. My Contax kit has been a thrill to use with this, and for a zoom I just piked up and am testing a Tokina 28-70mm 2.8.

  6. A bargain, Marty... I bought four of them for €100 average a piece! :- )

  7. Yeah, the nerdom and its enthusiams coming from camera lovers is what counts a lot. Cinematography is just as much about the joy of using tools to the best effect just as it is to wonder the marvels of tech and to operate them. Now I get carried away. Anyway, looking forward to more awesomness of yours! I´ve had a desire to make a macro micro short for a while. Your footage and thread might have made me get closer to do that! Perfect! 🙂

  8. The news shooter article says that normal retail price will be $3,500 or so, which seems reasonable. The price of mechanical and electronic components has plummeted over the lsat few decades thanks to centralisation in China. The factor that makes or breaks products these days is the design of the physical unit and the software that controls it. The proof is in the pudding, as they say, so I would reserve judgement until there are units in the wild, and of course, all PR materials that are real (it's common for even things like car commercials to be 3d renders now) will be under the absolute best possible circumstances. Anyone who has ever used a GoPro knows that you'd have to be luckier than a lotto winner to get shots like they put in their promos.

  9. Magic Lantern is hard enough on a camera that has been able to use it for years. The M50 is a long way from done. It may never be done. I would go with an EOS-M to start with. But maybe it is further along than I am aware of?? ML will make you cuss like a sailor I can tell you that.

  10. I add this video even if unfortunately I can not add anything in reality to the discussion, just to show the exceptional tracking that blendertrack manages to obtain with an embarrassing simplicity .., everything is then transferred as it is to unreal with the same settings of the camera and this is the result .... If there were no algorithm interpretation problems because the file is in low resolution (1080p from mobile) and bicycle etc and because the background is not homogeneous enough, you could really do anything with the minimum effort ... Unfortunately this type of tracking I can only use for a few and studied scenes ... I then tried to digitize my son with capture reality but even here I couldn't, I'll probably have to try again with other camera settings
