  1. No experience with the S5, but on the G9 I normally have the E-Stabilization on all the time (with native m4/3 lenses) - for me, the extra stability and reduced 'warping' effects with wide-angle lenses outweigh the small extra crop and marginal reduction in resolution. AFAIK yes it does use the gyro data. As Kye pointed out recently on another thread, you can still get motion blur due to camera movement, as the E-Stabilization part can't do anything about that, but I think Panasonic use a combination of lens, sensor shift and electronic stabilization (when E-stab is enabled), which should minimise that problem in theory. Why not try it and see what you think? (I also use stabilization in post - Mercalli v5 in my case - but every software stabilizer I've ever tried or used can be 'broken' by some material - I think it's far better to stabilize in camera as much as possible).

  2. I think you missed the point. The GH5S was a non-IBIS camera designed for use in externally stabilised circumstances (ie, gimbals, tripods, steadicams, vehicle mounts, etc) where the IBIS mechanism would cause problems (eg, the sensor would wobble after a bump) and a fixed sensor is the preferred design. If you rely on IBIS (as I do) the GH5ii or GH6 are the upgrades to the GH5. The GH5S was the start of a parallel line of fixed-sensor cameras that happened to come out with some improved specs and happened to come out around when the GH5 replacement would have been nice and happened to have a similar body and happened to have a similar name. Saying that "imagine how successful Panasonic would have been if they just made a gh5s with IBIS a few years ago" is basically saying that you wanted a hypothetical camera that would have been popular. So on that note.... Imagine how successful Panasonic would have been if they just made a GH6 with 18 stops of DR and internal RAW in 2014!

  4. I've been a Plus member for 5 years and am just about done with Vimeo - the site is becoming less and less useable...Adaptive Streaming has killed much of my enjoyment of using Vimeo, can no longer cue up 3-4 videos and have them buffer (much more preferable to watching them "NOW!" at crap resolution), the lack of scaling options (aka watching at native resolution) makes my videos and those of others that upload in 720p look like mush when upscaled automatically (no choice here) to full screen of my 24" monitor (hate to think what they look like on larger screens), the ineffective and unnecessary message overlaid (what were they thinking?) at the top of videos ("having issues...")...the only thing keeping me there at the moment is the content.
