  1. Well, the 1DC has C Log neither the 1DX nor the 1DX II had C log. Only the Canon 5D mk IV had C log at the time. Not sure about the normal CS. I have had nearly all the 1D series cameras, 1DC as of now and I notice no difference in them other than the headphone jack like you stated.

  2. Hi, I currently own a 1DC and was wondering if the 1DX has the same colour science or was it tweaked for the 1DC? Besides the headphone jack are there any other physical differences? I did see some reports of the 1DC having a larger heat sink. Canon won't let you download your own firmware update for the 1DC which suggests it might have been possible to install it on a 1DX with some tinkering? thanks Simon

  3. Looks like not new cameras from Blackmagic at NAB 2022... I installed Resolve 18 beta and it seems pretty stable (at least for audio processing). I did have it crash when I was trying to drag and drop an audio plugin from one buss to another buss, so I restarted it and copied the plugin settings, instantiated the same plugin on a difference track and pasted the plugin settings and it worked fine. Also, the same session opened up and played back the same audio plugin combination so it seem the there are not adding processing overhead to audio plugin in Resolve 18, which is not expected to be a problem, but it nice to see that it is not an issue. Does anyone know if it is $5 per month to host your projects on the Blackmagic Cloud or is it $5 per project... it seems like it is per project by I have not taken the plunge yet... Thanks!

  4. I find the normal jpegs on the 1DC pretty laid back, not a lot of the normal Canon Punch to them. The Raws have plenty of meat in them though.

  5. 4k raw is obviously pixel binned, but pixel binned NRAW seems cleaner than pixel binned ProResRAW.

  6. Same here. Run-and-gun doc and corporate vids. Often at f1.8'ish. If it passes the eyeball test, then I'm good. Variable ND is a blessing and a curse though. VND causes it's own issues...but it's a worthwhile tradeoff.

Well, if the photographer had skill, he would not have put the sun in the background lol. But sure, I see your point. Like I said you have to know your equipment and I am afraid we change cameras so often, me also, that we never get to really know how to utilize their strengths and overcome their weakness. In the days of film cameras, we kept the same one for years and years. We could operate them in our sleep. It led to better results than we probably do even now with better equipment. Switching brands doesn't help much either.

  9. The thing that's painful is that the AF is so nice on my Panasonic S1 and S5 is SO NICE... when it actually works!!! The fact that the lenses like the 24-105 f/4 have minimal focus breathing and pseudo-parfocal ability* just makes it even more frustrating. I don't use / need autofocus that much currently, but would like the ability to rely on it in the future for more run-and-gun shooting.

  10. I agree (based on experience with my G9). While I'm sure the best from Sony and Canon would handle some use cases better, it works perfectly well for my use cases (and better than my PDAF-equiped E-M1 ii in some situations, like wildlife video with long lenses).
