3x pocket recorders with lav mics 2x even smaller ones but don’t use with lav mics Rode Wireless Go for the full recording. I just sync the clips, cut anything not important and then merge them. I’ll post a pic when I’m not in transit some time soon…3 points

yeah but adobe color is not really an option in NLE's unless you want to process in lightroom first.2 points

Yeah, very good info. It's kind of a vintage look with the saturation pushed down with the Kodak LUT for all of the consumables in the scene. I forgot to paste the link to the DNGs in the previous post: https://we.tl/t-KABtBkd3OT This is how it looks with Adobe Color in Photoshop Camera Raw without any adjustments besides the default 'adobe color.' It's using the opposite window as a light source and I have the camera set to 'daylight.'2 points

SIGMA FP with ProRes RAW and BRAW !

That looks pretty close to reality I think, maybe a Little bit on the lighter side but I think that is the best so far. But keep in mind I think everyone sees color a bit different and some people are just plain color blind. They say women see color different than men do. They distinguish pastels better for one thing. Sure aren't going to argue with them that is for sure.2 points -

Smallrig make all kind of clamps and accessories. I have a cheese plate gaffer taped to a power bank and that is then screwed into a clamp which is attached to a tripod leg et voilà! I use powerbanks from Anker and have done for years with zero issues. Re. the zooms, I’m not really a fan of zooms but still use a couple. I also chose the Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 over the bigger and bulkier 24-70 because it was so much smaller and lighter. I have used it for video and it’s pretty good but obviously can’t rely on the AF for tracking. It can…but not reliably. I use it as my principal stills lens now but as a ‘twin prime’ lens ie as a 28mm or a 70mm but nothing in between. I have 20, 50 and 100 f2 primes for anything else. If I could only take one lens to a job, photo and video, it would be the 24-105, but I don’t actually use it for that purpose because I have other more suited options, but if you could only have one lens… Maybe if it had internal zooming because that is the part I don’t much care for with zooms. With the 28-70, the extension is really small like maybe an inch max. I use it on my S5 these days for long tripod stuff so ceremonies and speeches where I need a bit of reach but some flexibility for certain wide stuff such as entrances and exits. Still toying with swapping it out for a 70-200mm f4 but not right now. But for photography, it doesn’t get used on actual wedding days but instead does get used as my landscape lens on say a hike in the mountains where again, like I do any zoom lenses, used at only the extreme ends of 24 and 105 as nothing in between exists for me.2 points -

Hefty price for that piece of tech. What I like about my GX85 is the price and the ergo and my S16 Angie 75mm F2.2 lens, which covers mft evortlessly and even gives S35 a run with some tasteful vignetting. What I dislike about smartphones is the infos about specs. I have to invest too much time to find out about bitrate, quality of codec, bit depth. Most of the time I won´t find any reliable info. With the Xperia I gave up after 5min. Also, 1inch sensor, but only using 12MP of the 20MP. Good thing though, saves me a lot of GAS driven dreams.: 🙂1 point -
Is the EOS-M *THE* Digital Super-8 Camera?
webrunner5 reacted to tupp for a topic
I shot some EOSM 14-bit raw clips of a fitness instructor, and threw together this video: This is not a 8mm nor 16mm crop mode -- it's full APS-C, "1080" crop. However, it is the first time that I have seriously shot raw with the EOSM. Mostly I have used Tragic Lantern's all-I h264 mode with boosted bit rate.1 point -

This new Sony Xperia Pro-I I just bought is Crazy good. I will get some shots up; the weather has been terrible here last few days. This smartphone is a camera first and a phone second. Amazing tech in it. A Sony RX00 VII in your pocket almost.1 point -
@aaa123jc and it is one of the cameras besides the F3 and the BMMCC which has a fascination on me. I own them three but have only used the Bmmcc. But the latter one at least for a legit 5min narrative piece. Great image, even better when lit. I have posted a bit of my stuff lately. So always eager to see footage from the EOS M and the these classic digim indy cine treasures! Keep up coming, friends!1 point

I tend to agree more and more with Dave @webrunner5 that smartphones have taken over completely as money making video content machines. Tiktok and the likes are hungry for content with sufficient image quality. Content is queen and sufficient image quality is her best friend and convinience her mate. Smartphones deliver all that. Would be interesting to compare revenue from Hollywood with the ones from Youtube and influencers.1 point

Really looks great. But as we can see it really depends a lot on who you have grading the footage and their skill level.1 point -
My point I think as it pertains to the thread, is that the ‘off’ profile is the only option when recording out hdmi to braw. So that’s where I initially noticed the color difference, doing dng and braw but I didn’t have ‘off’ set initially in camera for dng. It’s a great sensor / camera without a ‘known’ or tried and true workflow.1 point

Someone shared this on dpreview m43's forum, I couldn't resist. I have m43 to Sony E and Nikon Z adapters, so plan on using these adapted to FF. Adorama back at it again with some Samyang/Rokinon price craziness, this time in the m43 mount I thought $230 was low for the 24mm 1.5 last year, now it's at $150! They have most focal lengths and some kits available. The 135mm 2.2 is $140, the 50mm is $130 The 24mm, 35mm, 85mm kit is $350! https://www.adorama.com/l/Video/Video-Lenses-and-Accessories/Samyang~Digital-Cinema-Lenses?sel=Lens-Mount_Micro-Four-Thirds1 point -
The problem with so called "pros" is that they have been tricked into thinking that way... you need that kind of $100K setup to be a big shot. The main problem are the producers... they come from old school methods of film making where you need those kind of huge cameras, rigs and setups. I remember someone telling me or reading it somewhere, that once the guy brought DSLR to a gig and the producer turned around and said something as cocky as, "I have a camera like that at home, so if I can just bring that to set... may be I wouldn't need you." I would've said, "Fine, then go to your local dollar store, buy yourself a hammer and build yourself a fucken house while you are at it... or better yet, go to your local pharmacy - they literally give away needles... use that to perform brain surgery on yourself."1 point

Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN has almost 0 breathing and manual focus is smooth for a focus by wire lens. With latest firmware that gives extra control over focusing similar to Panasonic lenses it is almost perfect for video. Was pleasantly surprised. But it is relatively big and heavy 🙂1 point -

Knowing what I know now, ie, user experience of the S5 and S1H, I would definitely pick up an S1 over an S5. But then also having this info, I’d also happily trade my S5 and S1R for a pair of S1H’s so I had 3 of the things! Yes it’s a bit of a lump but it’s the best lump I ever shot with for video or hybrid. The S1R beats it as a pure stills machine, but otherwise… The final components for my S1H video beast arrived today and I have to say that after a minor modification, it is indeed a beast. Having a VND between the lens and the camera is a MUCH better solution than screw on options as it gets out of the way and allows the use of a lens hood…and the Meike cine lens comes with a very integrated looking screw in hood that looks like part of the lens rather than a ‘lens hood’. And then there is the lens itself… Only had time to shoot a little bit of footage but the result SOOC is already nicer looking than my f2 Sigmas…which were pretty great, but not ideal for video work in that they breathe like dragons and the focus is by wire, so finicky to say the least. The only thing that bugged me…for about 5 minutes…was the de-clicked aperture. I get why it is, but FFS, put an aperture lock on the things because it gets constantly nudged out of place. Like ALL THE TIME when handholding. A cunning less than 1” square sticky back Velcro option sorted this and now it ‘locks’ at T2.1, T2.8 or T4, depending on my needs. The S5 will get a little more use than the last few jobs because other than static full ceremony and full speeches, it’s staying on the sticks and doing any and all things AF, so it’s designated as my ‘tracking unit’. Full run out of the updated kit next week… On another note, tried Vlog again. It was just as awful an experience as it’s ever been… Viva Natural. I’m 100% done even trying with log now. And zero need.1 point -
Is the EOS-M *THE* Digital Super-8 Camera?

It has gotten easier to use ML in the last year. The duration of time has increased by miles lately. They are a magic camera no doubt.1 point -
It's amazing to see what people are doing with this little camera! The EOS M always has a place in my heart. For some unknown reason, it just comes with great colors. It only requires some minimal effort to get it to look good in my taste. Not to mention you can install Magic Lantern and add in many useful features. Anyway, a camera which can shoot RAW costing around $100 is unbelievable. It's unfortunate I had to sell it last year. Maybe one day I would buy it back and play with the RAW feature more😅.1 point

If it helps, you can go to a hardware store and grab a bunch of highly-saturated free paint swatches with the brightest colours you can find (and grab some skin-coloured ones too while you're there if you don't already have a colour checker) and you can experiment with those. Assuming you're setup with a calibrated monitor and neutral studio lighting (I recommend MediaLight https://www.biaslighting.com/ and have lit my studio with their bias light and plug-in globes) then you can shoot some test shots (I recommend in full-sun for best colour accuracy, or a halogen / incandescent globe if it's not sunny outside) and then you can bring the switches into the studio and compare them to your monitor (if you have a portable high-CRI light you can light the swatches with that - keeping any spill off your monitor) and literally compare then side-by-side, which is by far more brutal a comparison than anyone would ever have looking at your work in isolation. Much easier to do that than convert your studio into a rainforest habitat! What are your thoughts on RAW vs Prores and how good Prores is at matching the capabilities of RAW? I ask because lots of folks here have only shot with h26x and RAW and the differences are obvious, but may not be aware of where Prores sits in that spectrum. lol.... Are you able to provide any examples? I've seen a number of tests that don't have these issues, so interested in seeing how people are testing this. I'm seeing random idiots all mouthing off without having any thought (or even fact) behind their opinions all the time at this point. I think I saw one person declare that the GH6 was useless because it didn't have PDAF and then raved about the S1 for a while, I was thinking "um.........??" lol.. I find that when shooting with the family on trips there's a few things that solve lots of problems. Unfortunately one of the ones that gets used most often is a credit card!!1 point
