  1. Feel that ARRI would have liked to have released their S35 4K camera a lot earlier if they could have. And that the ALEXA LF and Mini LF were simply stop gap measures aimed to stem the losses of productions switching over to RED/Sony/Panasonic because they had true 4K cameras and ARRI didn't. I thought they were ready to go with their plans for a new S35 4K for last year or even the year before? As I remember ages ago, ARRI put out an announcement that it will be "next year". But I presume covid and other hiccups has put their release plans on ice for a little while ago.

  4. Okay, wow - that's where the green comes from. Thanks for the test!

  5. Here is the test I did. I can't remember which was 8 and which was 10 bit as they look almost identical. The 12 bit file is very apparent though, leagues better. This was 100 ISO raised 5 stops in the resolve RAW panel. I used the BM color space.

  6. Just tried the old link, but I'm only seeing the old files. Do you have a new link? 🙏 EDIT: my bad, downloading now 😅

  7. Yeah wedding guests have totally different standards/expectations than what even a random small business owner for a small corporate video will have in mind. There is a saying in politics: "explaining is losing" Is true in a lot of other areas of life too. Finally, a job for me!

  9. Normally my clients are people that saw me work first hand, so they know what to expect, but this one had never seen me work. I didn't really think to do more than bring my lights, camera, tripod, and audio gear since it was a pretty simple sit down set up... Making it all look like a beefed up cine camera didn't even cross my mind! I guess it wouldn't hurt to add my SmallRig mini matte box lite, wooden hand grips, and external monitor in the future? I just never really saw the point in controlled conditions. I think I'd just buy another S5 or an S1. When I got home I did this. I guess that does look better.

  10. I've heard similar. I imagine it takes a lot of processing power to do what it can do, but I'm unsure why they didn't use the same battery as the S1H. I guess to keep the size down? But give me a slightly bigger body if it means more battery time.

  11. I suspected that. 8 bit and 10 bit have banding in the shadows where that isn't present with 12 bit. I'd use 10 bit only for more controlled situations. In the test I did 8 bit and 10 bit looked about the same in terms of banding. It was a rather extreme test however.

  12. This clip is 10 Bit. It's hard to speculate about what's happening. It seems like I should be able to dig out a little more. I haven't encountered that in 12 bit but haven't shot any 10 bit to know if that's more common.

  13. Man, I’ve gone so far as to hire a separate crew to shoot “a” cam with all the video-village gak —while I run around looking all unassuming, just doing my thing and getting 90% of the video used in the edit.

  14. I know it's cheap used since I just sold mine but I still feel the EVA1 has possibly the best image under $10k new (Komodo might be better but feels like a lot more work). It lacks some of the amenities and durability of its competitors and is just a weird product. But the image is amazing.

  15. I did a musicvideo last week. I figured what I would shoot with, big F3 to test that baby Alexa sensor, BMMCC to drool over RAW beauty and magic or what not. Thing is I choose my favorite GH5 rig, rented the cam, rigged it up with my stuff. In the end, the camera needs to work for you. BCam was my S1. And it was a great shotgetter. That is much more important than making an impression with size.
