  1. D Verco

    Fuji X-H2S

I've had the xh2s for a couple months now. Just shooting test stuff but the footage is absolutely unreal. Don't have anything else to say except that camera conspiracies guy is the most annoying person on the internet. I'd like to see him try to make something look good before constantly whinging.

  4. I'm interested in knowing what people's thoughts are on this camera comparison.

  5. I really enjoy this series, it's one of the genuinely good/interesting things on YouTube, but I especially liked this episode on the Digital Bolex. I always wanted to get my hands on one but never did. It's a shame that it ended up the way it did, because it genuinely was a pretty revolutionary way to create a camera. I don't know that we'll ever see a camera built with the same spirit and vision as the Bolex, and that's too bad.

    Fuji X-H2S

Wow that was some of the best footage I've seen yet from this camera. Props to the filmmaker. 6.2K Open gate + Speedbooster for FF + vintage glass at 24fps is really a look that I covet/desire! It's getting harder and harder for me to resist going in on the system. By the way the XH2 was announced couple days ago in relative silence. It comes in cheaper at $2100 has 45MP stills and has 8K + oversampled 4K with ProRes. The sensor isn't stacked which means XT4 type rolling shutter & AF. And no open-gate either. Still quite interesting for hybrid shooters and an entry price for 8K if that's your thing. For me XH2S remains the target.

  7. Sigma's official trigger input cable is called the CR-41 and connects to the mic port with a split input to still allow to connect a mic. Its about €50 and could be used by grafting it onto a pistol grip. However, JJC do a compatible version that comes out to a cable rather than a switch and its about €18. JJC also do a pistol grip for around €22 that you can then plug that cable into to complete the process. The good thing about the pistol grip is that you can then use other compatible cables for different cameras so it isn't tied to just one brand.

  8. Project Greenlight might fit the bill. I've only watched the first season as I'm not sure if the other seasons aired in the UK. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Greenlight To be honest, I'm not sure the first one did either and I may have watched it via a "non-traditional" method 🙂 Its based on a competition element but once that is out of the way after the opening episode or two and they've picked the winning script it then follows the whole process through to the film being released.

  9. So to follow up on that whooping 35 minute short film from Sigma, I just found that they'd released a Behind-the-Scenes video highlighting the crew's experience using the FP for the project and what their thoughts on it were! Gotta say, if Sigma continue to listen to the feedback they're getting on this camera and keep that in mind moving forward, I cannot wait to see what Sigma's followup camera to the FP will be like. They've got a monster of a camera on their hands, just iron out some quirks here and there and the next model will be insane.

  10. Man, this new firmware update is MASSIVE. Definitely breaths a ton of new life into the FP and fixes a few of the issues that Caleb mentioned in his video! However, I feel it's worth noting that Sigma confirmed in a new interview with one of the sites that can't be linked here that they were ultimately unable to create a proper LOG/flat profile for the FP due to technical limitations... So apparently that's not coming any time soon for the camera. Not the end of the world, as I'd wager most filmmakers buying this camera are investing in it for the various RAW codecs it can provide internally and externally. Hopefully though the next model in the FP lineup fixes that issue and provides a LOG profile at launch. In cheerier news though, Sigma just released a whopping 35 minute long narrative short film shot entirely on the FP! Unsurprisingly, it looks pretty great.
