Some sad personal news, and a note on the future
Andrew Reid and one other reacted to mercer for a topic
And hopefully, by the Grace of God, or whatever you believe in, your sister will pull through. As they say... stranger things... Again, good luck!2 points -
Yes @Andrew Reid don't take it as granted, never lose any remaining hope your sister can overcome it, we never know, probability is what it is, no more no less but also vice versa. May that happen, it wouldn't be the first time... who knows? Things are not linear at times, let's keep it positive at least while she is fighting for and we all here send all the best energy for her and you Reid family < 3 Let her know our wishes if you find it appropriate... There are many here with her in our souls and minds!2 points

Sony FX30 (S35 FX3)
Emanuel reacted to MurtlandPhoto for a topic
I agree with most of your points, but this one right here is precisely why this camera is very exciting for many people. Pretty remarkable camera for the price—a worthy upgrade for many APS-C Sony shooters, a great B cam for FF Sony shooters, and most importantly a gateway camera to get people into the Sony product pipeline all the way up to Venice.1 point -
Canon has a rumoured R7C on the way: The Canon EOS R7 C will record 7K60P in Cinema RAW Light and will reportedly have the same codec options as other Cinema EOS cameras, including the Canon EOS R5 C. There was also talk of a C50 ages ago but that rumour didn't seem to pan out..yet.1 point

That actually is one factor that suits me very well as I don’t need a viewfinder, stills or video, and have used nothing but the LCD for years now. It just made more sense for me constantly flipping all day long between stills and video to do so. Still prefer a tilt though… Still banging that gong 😬1 point

Well my XH2 arrives tomorrow. Yay 😀 Between 11am and 2pm. I’m leaving 8.30am latest for my last job of the year. Boo 😒 I preordered with the hope of testing on at least this last real world job, but was resigned over the last few days to it not arriving in time. Hey ho, would have been good and I’ll just have to run some post-season tests against my S1R’s to see how it stacks up in non-wedding environments.1 point

True, the FX3 has made significant inroads in the broadcast market. But still it's weird to call these "cinema" cameras. They are not. Maybe they're better described as broadcast cameras but that doesn't have the same cachet.1 point

Some sad personal news, and a note on the future
Andrew Reid reacted to TrueIndigo for a topic
As if it weren't bad enough, when the world seems to be going mad each week with yet another WTF moment, at a personal level half the universe is suddenly in question and we wonder what's going on? In all inadequacy I know, but I send my healing thoughts to Zara and you Andrew at this difficult time. I've been very moved reading these posts, and hope they also help you to know something of the reality of the regard and honest feelings community people here have in support to you and the family. All the best.1 point -
I like it, especially the form factor which reminds me of the Sigma FP, just with a grip, but do I like it more than the XH2-S? Not quite…1 point

That's awful, sorry to hear, best wishes to you and your family during this time. 😞 Hope there is a miracle and she's successful in fighting off this cancer.1 point

All music at soundimage.org is now free for commercial use
Stathman reacted to Eric Matyas for a topic
Greetings Fellow Creatives, If you find my free music helpful, please consider making a small donation on my website to help support my efforts. I don't allow advertising on the site because I feel it would be distracting to my visitors so I pay for everything myself. Support from the community is literally what makes this possible. Thank you in advance! 🙂 That said, this week's new free music tracks are: On my Funny 8 page: "MONSTER MERRY-GO-ROUND " https://soundimage.org/funny-8/ And on my Sci-Fi 12 page: "CYBER STREET MARKET" https://soundimage.org/sci-fi-12/ Enjoy, stay safe and keep being creative!1 point -
Same, my friend, same thing, nice to hear from you. Coffee, cam, talk no do. Would be sweet. OG Bmpcc, was lusting over it too. But with the Bmmcc finally being equipped with the 3.5 inch Ikan plus Viewfinderloupe, I might get over it.:) Did some fun filming yesterday at Kanzleramt, filming my friends taking application picturs.:) Awesome blue and all of the sudden golden hour yesterday. Got it all in glorious Fairchild colours! So, let´s groove. Next week would be groovy f.i. 🙂1 point

Arri's sensors - jointly developed in the USA.

You’re paying for more than the sensor, brother.1 point -
I just got the Blackmagic video assist to test out on my Nikon Z6 that has been raw upgraded I've been using the Ninja v for a long time but so far I'm liking the video assist more I always transcoded the prores raw to prores 4444 XQ to keep the 12bit and to make it work in DaVinci (I've had some people tell me I'm cheating because I'm not working RAW but I love working with the footage and my clients have never complained) I'm really looking forward to working with b-raw and skipping Apple compressor app I'm still on the learning stage of it though I just got the recorder a day ago1 point

I wonder if Z6ii new sensor will allow AF to work with external recording in BRAW. It was almost unusable in N-Log on older model (i sold it for that reason). I know manual focus is what pros do, but if I want manual focus and BRAW I would use rigged bmpcc. It would be very nice if is somewhat reliable...1 point

I had a look. Our work differs. Weddings I don't have a discard bin, and I'd rather have all the clips to hand until the project finishes. Once the project is archived, I delete the project folder and all original files. I can't reuse Wedding material, aside from some shots of buildings and even that rarely works. A summer shot of a venue looks out of a place in an Autumn Wedding and I work a wide variety of venues anyway to make it practical. I colour tag each camera and each camera has its own layer. This way I can colour correct one cameras files by hiding the other layers. I use shared nodes for common corrections for a single camera, then tweak with new nodes if needed. With Resolve, I can make a change in the RAW settings and apply it to multiple clips. This saves me time, if I want to do a white balance correct to say the evening dance footage, of which there will be loads of clips. Typical Wedding, I have 400 to 500 clips to work on, so I don't waste too much time with metatags. I manage the clips in Resolve and assign to sub folders within the software as I go through them.1 point

Some sad personal news, and a note on the future
Ann Watson reacted to Andrew Reid for a topic
To all my friends at EOSHD I have some very sad news. My sister has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She is just 38. I have just brought the news to the main blog page here, for the full story: https://www.eoshd.com/news/my-sister-zara-reid-is-in-end-of-life-care-for-cancer/ I might need to rely on my friends here to get me through this very difficult time and keep working. Anyone who pre-orders my Panasonic GH6 Shooter's Guide will really be helping. I am in financial difficulties too, on top of this. I want to keep this blog going even though I am a wreak at the moment. I am going to miss my sister enormously. She was at the heart of my family. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you wish to pass a message of support onto myself, Zara or my mum. My email address is eoshd.com@gmail.com In the future my aim is to get back to work and carry on EOSHD. Sorry it has been so quiet of late. Thanks guys.0 points -

Sorry to hear that Andrew. I lost one of my best friends, a great filmmaker, to cancer last year. He was in his mid 40s. I guess there's nobody in the world that this disease doesn't affect in some form or another. It's heartbreaking when it's someone so close to home.0 points
