I´ve seen this test how the GH6 excels in holding onto colour under various conditions. It beats a GH5s by far in lowlight regarding colours, also providing much higher resolution in these super lowlight conditions. @Attila Bakos has recognized the Fuji XH2s having a lack in colour resolution, blurring the red channel. It seems indeed that the GH6 sensor and image pipeline is something extraordinary and very impressive. Like @deezid stated, it needs a true zero sharpening setting though, as footage is a bit on the crispy side, like Lumix S5 or S1, needing a -1 in Vlog, like the S1H is providing. For me it additionally need Prores LT, also Prores for UHD, not just Cine 4K. Plus it need a S16 crop mode like the GH5. Then I would be willing to pay good money for it.

Yeah, you might need an address. Anyway, as far as I can tell the 1579 euro deal is gone now. Panasonic is getting it one all sides. I think there are many who think the X-H2s and OM-1 are better depending on their use-case. For me, I've always preferred video from my Panasonic cameras, but it's close. I'm still not 100% convinced I'm going to like the GH6, but I really want to try it, especially at that price. M43 users who want Panasonic are probably upset about the AF and all the lying for years about DFD promises. In this regard, I've found Olympus CONTRAST AF in the E-P7 and E-M10 iv was much better at latching onto faces than many Panasonics I've used (not sure about GH6); so, I'm not even sure PDAF is necessary, but Panasonic users have made it necessary due to all those lies. Once Panasonic can pull their head out of the sand (and they will), they will be back with a vengeance as long as they continue with lenses. Sony is the Evil Empire and Panasonic is... never mind. 😀

PS: Panny fanboy here but no less of other brands as well, only from Canon besides the 5DII I still keep with care, let's not forget the pearl Canon M I yet hold four units. To be brand agnostic is a requirement of any filmmaker who loves this craft (EAG :- )

Tempting... I am producing a feature film in France right now but wouldn't like to mix the things up. They look like to request a French bank for the rebate though. Can you recommend anyone accepting nonresidents in order to open a local bank account? I'd eventually buy a couple of units only because of this tip of yours now, go figure and ask your commission check from them! : D I guess poor AF performance is taking them to have more units in stock than they should, hence this. Good for us, the GH series is a hell of a tool and will always be no matter what. BTW, my fav capture device before P4K and even earning the podium to 5DII I left ten years ago when my three GH1 units arrived and still hold with me even today, despite to couple with more 4x G7 and the GX85 (and a FTZ1000 I bought used, oh well, practically new!).

@markr041 Never said anything about adding grain, blur or teal & orange. Just that a clinical lens at 60p gives a very un cinematic cheap video look. Like I said I'm allergic to it but it is subjective and perhaps even generational although I think people under 30 watch films and footage aside from sports in 60p. Your smartphone usually defaults at 30p which is a lot closer to 24p. 60p and above are usually slow-motion frame rates. High frame rate viewing content is what is commonly referred to as the "soap opera effect" and is a feature some TVs now have on default by using interpolation and adding frames. Most people I know hate the effect and turn it off immediately. It's ok for news or sports but ruins any true 24p footage be it narrative work or not. The irony though is that the motion that you perceive as close to "real life" is exactly what is so bothersome. In the video I linked the dancer actually expresses her feel about how dissatisfied she usually is about motion in her filmed performances. Surely the global shutter of that particular camera helps a lot but it only shoots 24p & 30p in 2K/FHD as its emulating Super16/film. Anyways, keep doing as you feel, you seem to be more into the news/sports aesthetic and that's a choice. I just find it a bit odd to buy a "cinema" camera for the "TV" "ENG" look. I don't think you'll find many FX series users shooting like that but again to each their own! If I may make a suggestion I'd advocate 30p as a good middle ground for yourself..and your audience.

I bought my Lumix S5 with a 500€ cash back deal in Spain. It works as you say. I think it took a month or 2 to get the cash back. Great deals.

To be honest, I have zero NEED for such a beast of a camera (I'd include the GH5S and GH5, ii in that as well). It was the price that convinced me- that's all. Also, I have too many cameras and I need to sell some. It's going to be a massive learning curve, I expect. Yes, the deal (as I understand it) is you buy a GH6 in France (maybe Europe), send your invoice and everything to Panasonic, they give you 400 back, an extra year of warranty (making it 3 years total, WOW!), and they send you a 1tb SanDisk Extreme SSD (again, WOW!). I'd say that the price is more like 1000 Euros for a GH6, which is crazy! I found the deal (for 1579 euros) both at FNAC.fr and Darty.fr, but the FNAC deal went away this morning. It should arrive this week and I'm super interested in seeing what it has to offer.

When I watch tests like this, it reminds me how much I dislike gratuitous slow motion. I think every filmmaker should be given a lifetime allocation of 10 minutes of slow motion that they can use judiciously throughout their career. It's like exclamation points: I remember reading a diatribe against them in which the author said that every writer should be given a lifetime supply of exactly one exclamation point.

  11. Calm down, no I'm not the police. It's called forum netiquette. Even the OP is confused about the direction his own thread has taken. What does a GH5 have to do with C100/C300 question? Why continually argue against a point I clearly detailed with pics and everything concerning cameras I've actually owned and worked with? It seems like you enjoy making these threads about you and your camera. It's just not necessary. All the armchair arguments, the passive aggressive comments. It's not a discussion anymore, it becomes a monologue. Even right now, we're wasting bandwidth talking about you it seems, your hurt feelings and playing the victim as if I were the bully. It's quite tiring frankly. Nobody cares, it's just cluttering the thread. Just put all that aside, no need to argue further. Try and stay on topic. I'm done with this back & forth.

  12. @kye ..why don't you compare it to a GoPro again? 🤣 I repeat for the millionth time: I don't see how I could be any clearer but you conveniently leave out my clarifications every time only to keep arguing about unrelated camera specs. The images and dimension/weight info you found are indeed not telling the truth since you'd have to rig up those DSLRs substantially to get equivalent cine cam specs. I've even posted pics of rigged up R5C & Z6 to further prove my point.. but I'm the one that has trouble "comparing objects in photographs"? you sure about that lol. I'm not trying to get under your skin but again you present just a bunch of unrelated armchair data that miss the point entirely. FYI I've owned the C100 and the 5D3 together, shot with them for years so I really do know what I'm talking about. Bringing up your GH5 in every topic doesn't make you any more of an expert on gear you've never used before. Nothing personal, relax. Just stating the obvious, no need for further arguments on said topic. Welcome to EOSHD, where all topics lead back to Lumix cameras..

@deezid Are you seeing sharpening artifacts even with non-native glass? I ask because I know that there is unavoidable in-camera sharpening when using Lumix lenses. But when using adapted glass on a Speedbooster I don't notice objectionable sharpening in the files, even with sharp lenses stopped down.
