I believe at the 0:38 second I saw the Video Sound Police violently interrupting the shooting!2 points

Without mention this contribution brought by Fuji... some are used to say there's no other even similar B&W ; -)1 point

Well I've just edited 2 weddings where I used the OM-1 and have to say, dodged a bullet with that one. The 4k 50p is not even in the same conversation as Panasonic's S35 crop from full-frame. Not even in the conversation with the 8 bit out of the S1R. Thin and horrid colour. Trying to match it is a nightmare. Low light, rubbish. Fortunately, I only used it for long static stuff rather than a couple of hundred clips, but nope, thank fcuk I stuck with L Mount. You'd have to drag me kicking and screaming into 4/3rds World now 😜1 point

It crops in on the sensor in 4k 120fps, which makes noise larger and less fine. You just have to expose more carefully or over expose a bit. The good thing is that it's still high bitrate, 10 bit so you have that dynamic range and color information to play with.1 point

Sure. You can use IBIS, just set lens info in the stabilization menu to 35mm. My videos were all handheld, so IBIS was effective. It's all manual, of course. The big challenge was focus. The lens barrel has distance markings, the focusing mechanism is long throw and linear, which is all good. The magnification button of the fx30 is really helpful as are the colored focusing aid (I chose red). I didn't try the new full screen color mapping for focus. Occasionally I would forget I needed to focus, I have relied so much on Sony's auto focus. It does slow you down. I was conservative in not choosing the widest apertures because I didn't want a shallow dof in case I misfocus. Using wider apertures in some shots would have been nicer for image quality. Also wider apertures make what is not in focus more evident. In DaVinci Resolve desqueezing is easy: just select all clips, right click for clip attributes, and choose the pixel aspect ratio as 1.33X. This perfectly desqueezes this 1.33X anamorphic lens clips. I shot without a monitor to desqueeze. I have no problem composing shots as the lcd shows exactly what is in the frame, just squeezed. I was pleased with the compositions. I have shot anamorphic before without a desqueezing aid.1 point

I used the R5c with the full cage and the FxLion One Battery on top of the cage on a Ronin S quite a bit and depending on the lens is a bit at the limit with the clearance. The EVF of the R5c is stick out quite a bit and the cage need some more space on the motor side. Sold the S and now I use a RS3 Pro and due to stronger motors and longer harms I can mount whatever with no issue. For my Africa project I did use a lot with the 70-200 and no problem at all to balance and still have enough clearance to go underslung. Although Smallrig claims the cage to be compatible with the DJI arca plate ,mine is not and I tested with RSC2 (too small for this camera anyway) and RS3 Pro plates and due to the security pin both cannot take the cage directly. I have the R5 full cage so maybe. Bottomline either you mount the DJI arca adapter (that comes with the gimbal) on the tripod hole of the cage or if you want something more solid you need to buy this: SMALLRIG Quick Release Plate for Arca-Type Standard Compatible with DJI RS 2 / RSC 2 / RS 3 / RS 3 Pro Gimbal - 3154 or this SMALLRIG Camera Quick Release Plate Adapter with Arca-Swiss for DJI RS 2/RSC 2/RS 3/RS 3 Pro & for Ronin-S Gimbal - 3061. I use the gimbal on high vibration environment quite a bit, on MTB, Motorbike, Jeep, Skii, Heli so the stronger motor of the RS3 Pro is a no brainer for my usage. For only 200g more is imo worth. The new auto locking of the RS3 and RS3 Pro seems a small thing but it makes life so much easier.1 point

On the 'Optyczne.pl' website OM-1 'film mode' review, there is a collection of straight-out-of-camera 8 & 10-bit files at the bottom of this page - https://www.optyczne.pl/59.5-Inne_testy-OM_System_OM-1_-_test_trybu_filmowego_Podsumowanie_i_filmy_przykładowe.html The list: Also some resolution test chart videos on this page - https://www.optyczne.pl/59.4-Inne_testy-OM_System_OM-1_-_test_trybu_filmowego_Jakość_obrazu.html Their opinion (Google translated) of the 1080p modes was:1 point

As I said OM-1 went in cardboard box at post office after so it was a bit difficult to reshoot1 point -
Not mine, but there are a few 1080p 8-bit and 10-bit clips here, which might help a bit - https://www.youtube.com/user/LexTNeville/videos Also on 'Optyczne.pl' there is a 1080p resolution test movie (I don't know if any of it is 10-bit) - https://www.optyczne.pl/59.4-Inne_testy-OM_System_OM-1_-_test_trybu_filmowego_Jakość_obrazu.html - and some downloadable 1080p samples here - https://www.optyczne.pl/59.5-Inne_testy-OM_System_OM-1_-_test_trybu_filmowego_Podsumowanie_i_filmy_przykładowe.html1 point

I always laugh when they want you to buy a 2500 dollar camera and they show the results using 100,000 dollars of shit and a crew of 10 to get the shot.1 point -

Well, I am crushed, I have nothing to contribute. I guess I will go back to kicking my wife and beating the dog, Oh I have that backwards! Cya. 🥺1 point -
I have to say the tendency for youtubers to test IBIS in ultra slow motion (basically pointless) and autofocus by THROWING THEMSELVES BACK AND FORTH SHOUTING is really starting to grate on me It's pretty saturated out there and getting hard to tell the difference between one channel and the next these days actually just the shouting alone is doing my head in going through these videos. 🤣1 point

It seems OM1 has really good internal NR, applied at RAW debayer level: https://www.geh-photo.org/post/die-om-1-im-praxistest?continueFlag=143e81367b1d01290587846ff81073b9 Left EM1X, right OM1 OM1 ISO40000, yes forty thousand.1 point -

A $1000.00 for me in retirement, or anyone not making a living doing this stuff is a bridge too far. High end lenses are a hard sell for non pros. Sure if you are going to stay on that platform for years and years but thigs are moving Way too fast to stick to one brand now. There is just a lot of great stuff out now. Heck look how cheap the Sony A7 IV is. And that is a pretty amazing camera for the money.1 point -

Almost all OM System videos are people on the outdoors, covered in snow to the waist, shooting under monsoons, base jumping inside an active volcano...their intended demographic for this camera is well defined. (the last one is a joke, IP53 is not rated for volcano swimming)1 point -

i found this a few days ago. As i have been on a black white binge for a bit. I thought the results were impressive. Photoshop was used but maybe the principals could be applied in other programs.1 point
