  1. Another year, I return with my traditional police Christmas video. This year a short film of a thief who climbs the walls dressed as Santa Claus, to camouflage himself as the popular Christmas decoration. Remember that it is a video that we make in which each roll is interpreted by policemen, not actors, and that the technical section this time is made up of some more members of the squad, where only 2 of us have audiovisual knowledge. I hope it makes you laugh at least a small part of what we have laughed shooting it. A greeting to all, and especially to Andrew.

  2. I'm much more cautious than John, ha ha, especially regarding the specifics, but I do suspect something significant. I've seen folks post that they've returned from Japan, so I imagine we'll see what's up once the embargo is lifted. I do, however, think if it was something ready for release they'd have done it while everyone was there still, so I am thinking whatever it is probably won't be ready for a while and this is just Panasonic trying to keep people more informed on what they're working on, which is really all most of us Panasonic users have been asking. I do think an external LIDAR system is better than nothing, but I also am unsure how I feel about having to spend more money to get better auto focus technology. It's probably something I'd pass on as I've made their AF work for most of my uses, but I would kinda also ask myself "what are we doing here?" I mean, external hardware to get better AF? Really?

  3. Hi everyone, I've decided to make all of the music on my site free for commercial use as well as noncommercial. Just please credit me properly as detailed on my homepage. If you decide to use one or more of my pieces, a donation would be greatly appreciated...any amount you can swing would be helpful. As always, thanks for your feedback and I hope you find something you can use. Eric

  4. Are they? I don’t think they are… Unless it’s some kind of module in the first instance for at least 4/3rd cameras and maybe existing FF, but being developed to be in camera for the next gen of the S line some time in 2023? This is currently my best guess…but is nothing but that, a guess…

  5. Yes but it would not explain why the event is with Panasonic

  7. My understanding is that PDAF is more expensive to implement than DFD and could explain some of the price difference between Panasonic and almost every other brand. In that context I would have no problem paying extra for a reliable AF unit.

  8. I'd agree with everything you just said too. LiDAR had better offer something that PDAF can't or show everyone exactly why LiDAR is superior. I do know my iPhone 12 can detect my identity in pitch black lighting and no PDAF could ever do that. They might find something even if it's more for pros. We might also be forgetting all the other types of sensors that could interact with a processor to get better images. I'm not sure how or what, but I could imagine there's something.

  9. I think Canon could really have to fix the R5C's usability, atm it's borderline usable but could be much better, like there is no reason not to shoot videos on still mode, or using dpaf Ii on cine mode as it is the same sensor! And only 40min on standby..
