  1. Another year, I return with my traditional police Christmas video. This year a short film of a thief who climbs the walls dressed as Santa Claus, to camouflage himself as the popular Christmas decoration. Remember that it is a video that we make in which each roll is interpreted by policemen, not actors, and that the technical section this time is made up of some more members of the squad, where only 2 of us have audiovisual knowledge. I hope it makes you laugh at least a small part of what we have laughed shooting it. A greeting to all, and especially to Andrew.

    CG/VFX for free

Can't get enough job these days, so my skills may be useful here. I can do green screen keying, cleanups/object replacement, tracking, basic 3d modelling and stuff around such topics. Nothing fancy, I am not a world wide acknowledged cg artist but have some skills and experience. Here is my eclectic reel - https://disk.yandex.ru/i/V9USqVPwl0DDOg (it's accessible in Georgia so I assume it's accessible in other countries, too). Rules are: 1. You give me one shot/clip at a time, I do it for free. 2. I get the right to publish it here, on my youtube channel and use the resulting clip and the creation process as demonstration of skills and self promotion to other people and organizations. 3. You can use the result of my work as you wish until it contradicts term no.2. Or at least inform me about the change of situation. Of course there may be clips I won't be able to do, and I'll do my best to point it out right at the start. Also I'm still trying to earn for life, there may be a delay before I can do your clip (and I'll tell you about it). So if you have a complicated case in burning ASAP situation it may be better to contact an established CG facility on commercial basis. In general I'm trying to build up portfolio and maybe get in touch with new customers but at the moment I just don't want to get rusty. Ask questions if any. Chat on the topic (CG/VFX) is also welcomed in this thread.

Here you have a fair comparison and where one and the other one can sing, respectively:

Digital IS is available in all modes other than RAW. 8k 50/60 is RAW only. 8k 24-30 MP4 supports Digital IS, 4k 100/120 also.

OIS is always on and it helps on the gimbal with the mini vibration of the jeep One more with a more complex movement with the jeep this one with pre-focusd and then AF locked, 8K 50 RAW 1/100 slow down 2x, gimbal 70-200

One simpler scenario for AF, R5c on gimbal handheld on the vehicle moving, 70-200 at 2.8, 8K RAW 50fps slowed down 2x.

25 fps, only lens IS, lens Canon RF 400 2.8 IS (rented). I don't use EIS as I'm RAW only other than when I need 120fps that I need to use 10bit log. On long lenses 70-200, 100-500 and 400 in my experience IS works better than IS+IBIS, and as you cannot turn off IBIS and keep IS on the R5 I always use the R5c for long lens work especially handled.

I was also very surprised how well it managed this tricky situation. Overall AF is quite reliable but is not always perfect. This is example when it lost it in the easiest phase but the condition where really challenging. R5c 8K RAW 1/50 ISO 16'000 (yes not a typo ISO 16k) 400mm 2.8, AF tracking, on a bean bag, it was basically night and my driver did not believe I could film in that light. The beginning is out of focus until I could select the young leopard face, at 0.19 is when the camera loses him.

  11. I prefer IBIS, but it have to be good for video. Oly is best, Panasonic and Canon are almost on par, dunno about Nikon. Sony still have some work, and Fuji is worst. But even Fuji is miles better than the Sony's initial generations. I like a lot the idea of gyro data, and saw VERY good footage from it. But you have to shoot wider than expected, because gyro uses a crop, and the crop factor will be only known when you stabilize on computer.
