  1. Another thing that made me laugh about dry boring lab tests, is I had literally just watched a 6 minute film that someone had shot and CRAFTED using the S5ii. The camera was just one component and pretty much ANY camera of the last 10 years would have produced a near identical result. But anyway... 🤪

  2. Lab test 🤔 The result may very well be the result but it’s only real world use case that I am personally interested in. I’m sure lab tests are of most interest to serial brand swappers who flip their camera bodies on a regular basis. I bought mine for the AF and fan and as long as the rest is ‘real world’ more or less the same as the old S5, that’s good enough for me.

  4. Maybe the ever so slightly decreased latitude is that quality decrease Panasonic kept saying when they tried to defend doing with Dirt-From-Defocus AF 😂

  5. Clearly overhyped, but with strong long term potential to destroy the planet, AI natural language chatbots have taken 2023 by storm. I admit, it's an entertaining spectacle. They're fantastic at certain things and it's nice to see a new type of tool born, but I can't help feeling it is capable of wildly fantasying about things that never happened. I also think there is no way a large company like Microsoft or Google will truly let this technology off the hook and it will be incredibly heavily censored. This means first prize in AI will go to a startup and you better sell your Google shares right now. But should you trust it? EOSHD sets out to find out, by putting it through a camera nerd exam. https://www.eoshd.com/news/hows-ais-camera-knowledge-unhinged-chatgpt-stalks-eoshd-and-makes-up-controversies (It doesn't go well)

  6. Its jaw dropping really. Even if you go for the ISO version and go absolutely mad and get eight of the 6K cameras it is just over £21K, which is incredible for what you are getting. Bringing in the camera output over the internet (and being able to control them even down to switching the ND!) moves it on even another notch. Those modular 4 input mic box to MADI converters are also very impressive considering that they then give this new ATEM an internal (up to) 16 input digital console with EQ and Dynamics on every channel. You can achieve something similar with the ATEM Mini as it also has the Fairlight engine built in but its a ball ache and you end up with a rats nest of additional cables and boxes.

  7. From my experience (I have the camera since a month), the latitude is not the only downgrade, detail rendering (less in V-Log) and motion quality are also worse than the S1 and S5. But a lot of people will not see the difference, especially those who shoot in a very well controled environnement and those for whom 1080P is enough quality.

  9. The codecs are the same, except for C300's 12-bit 444 2K. As for Log, Canon Cine line has Clog2. The hybrids only Clog & Clog3. Grading is great and pretty effortless on the R series, anything you throw at them pretty much comes out good. I find I need to tweak much more on any other log profile.
