The FX30 has low light performance people would have given their kidney for a decade or two ago. The fault is with the user, not the camera, if you can't get good images out of it.3 points -

To me it seems the new build works almost flawlessly, atleast for my use. Supposedly there have been some issues in photo mode, and with AF, but I never use those things on the Eos M (I think it is one of the worst cameras for photography ever made, especially when using af). I get continuous recording in 2.8k raw (2.9 crop as the bmpcc original), 11bit 25fps, 2.39:1. In overexposed areas the timer turns orange (indicating that it can not go on forever), but when going back to normal exposure it goes back to green (continuous). If I would use 24fps I guess I could maybe go up to 12 bit. In 10bit it is always clean. Haven't tried it though, and probably won't do any extensive testing, as I have what I need now. The same settings as above are ok for continuous recording at 5.2k raw for me. Haven't tried dual ISO as I see no need for it. The preview is full screen and real time for both modes. Rolling shutter is an obvious issue in 5.2k mode (which is a 1.6 crop from full frame), a bit less so in the 2.8k raw mode. Good rolling shutter in the standard, almost fhd, raw mode, but that mode has a lot of aliasing. I would say the eos m is perfectly useable now, especially as a super-16 camera. I also really like the mlvapp. You could look at it as a cheaper alternative to the BMPCC original, but with better battery life and manual focus aids. Watch the build walkthrough if you are interested in trying it out:3 points -
I just noticed that the Panasonic BS1H has dropped down in price now to merely US$2.3K: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1664826-REG/panasonic_dc_bs1h_lumix_bs1h_full_frame_box_style.html3 points

That youtube video above is almost unworthy of being posted by a beloved forum member such as Django. "Biggest flaw", what clickbait nonsense. Lowlight on the FX30, as we have noted before, is about one stop less than the modern FF counterparts. So it is a lowlight achiever in S35 terms, better than C300II, than FS7. No mushyness but "grain". Great lowlight camera. No mushyness is a novelty, not many cameras offer in that price range, nor timecode, nor pro reliability and such. Now, C70 in RAWlight is the overall lowlight cinema champ after the classic Alexa Alev sensor and very close regarding quality of colour rendition, latitude and dynamic range, if I trust the judgement from german testsite slashcam and heresay from dop buddies. Same sensor as C300III. For the money, trust Ironfilm and others, FX30 is not to beat as a pro S35 B or A video cam in the Sony system.2 points

Hey friends, now with the latest built from Bilal and Dannes achievements before let´s get some Raw magic started. Thanks to our friend @ZEEK the latter are well reported, the former has been posted about here by our friend @QuickHitRecord The challenge would be up to us to make up. So what are your suggestions, what kinda challenge could that be? I think there are plenty Magic Lantern lovers and Canon owners. I got a EOS M for 75EU about a year ago and a 5D2 for 150. Still, I have not filmed anything with it yet. I feel pumped to try out my EOS M though with the latest built from Bilal, since even Danne seemed to like it. Some 50D cats here? Put some dirty fungus M42 Meyer Goerlitz on your cam and give us that Keny Ty look but not in filthy 420 8bit but in gorgeous RAW glory! 5D3 queens and kings? Mercer, you go! Some keywords for our magic fun tour: experimental, 3min narrative, video essay with photographic beauty, cinema verité exitement, locked shots parade..camer So all camera cats with the love for the some Raw image magic, let´s get our and your jazz on with magic lantern! 🙂1 point

I haven't tested it extensively, but I do get a fullscreen view on my little monitor when in 2.8K (that and 2.5K are really the only modes that I care about) whereas before the image was tiny and jammed up into the corner, or low res and stuttery. I was able to record for 90 seconds before I stopped recording. The buffer indicator went into yellow a couple of times, but never red. And the footage looked really nice. I didn't see any pink frames or anything. Bilal is releasing new versions of this new build every other day or so, trying to meet the community's requests. It's progressing a lot faster now than when it was a couple of unpaid devs putting in a little time in here and there.1 point -
Mentioned this in another EOS-M thread but for anyone who missed it, Meike do an EF-M converter which has the drop in filter system. The standard kit with the Variable ND and Clear filter is €145 and I think really gives this kit an extra boost as a compact powerhouse. Albeit at almost the full cost of the camera 🙂1 point

He's a talented guy. Thanks for sharing. Tokina 10-17mm is a very mediocre lens for topside photography yet it's a legendary lens for underwater photography. IIRC went EOL months ago. On video it's a different story: some defects are called character.1 point

I've used Sony 28-135mm FE PZ F4 G OSS Full-Frame E-Mount Power Zoom Lens on Sony A7S MK II and the autofocus as not perfect due to the camera and there was noticeable rolling shutter when panning. The image was nice and when zoomed in from a distance had nice shallow depth of field wide open. I used it with a LANC zoom controller mounted to the tripod arm and it was able to do different zoom speeds smoothly. I think with a more recent camera like the A7iv it would have better auto focus and better rolling shutter. The one thing about it that was not ideal was the 5x zoom range. It was not enough for run and gun shooting for me. You can of course crop in post or possible do a digital zoom in camera, but I prefer to have a longer zoom range or a fast F-stop if it is a shorter some range. All and all the image was not the issue the older Sony camera was. On a more modern camera it should really shine.1 point
