  1. She didn't compare them with a cinema camera - how am I supposed to watch a review that doesn't do that??? What I concluded from this review (and others) is that: 1) this entire category is half-baked and camera companies are light-years away from providing a solid and slick vlogging experience, and 2) these reviews are like watching people half-way-through the process of getting Stockholm Syndrome.... they clearly don't love them, they clearly don't enjoy the process, they don't like the price, and then their conclusions are positive - like they're saying "please send me the next one to review". Blink three times if you need help!!

  2. Canon Cripple hammer Strikes Again! i was waiting for nearly 10 years to replace my OLD 5DmkIII (with the MagicLantern hack) as a camera that can run REC on continously nonstop while outputting clean HDMI out for livestreaming jobs. every camera that came after stops recording after 29:59min including my beloved EOS-R that cannot be used for continuous video. everybody knows that this limitation is completely invented. and it was only after Sony and Nikon removed it that Canon followed suit in their latest models, (including the entry level R10 & R50). this limitation is why i never got the R5 or R6. because I find it Rediculous that a 5000$ Camera that came out post 2020 is crippled by what is clearly an invented technicality. (and yes i heard the Taxation difference crap. give me a break! i would pay to remove it if they let us. as would everyone else) and if you were hoping for a firmware fix - tough luck! because... Canon! out comes the R6 MK2! my next camera! no 4k crop, no (fake) overheat crap, no Record limit. FINALLY! (2023 it's about time!) well here is the BIG Catch that no raving (and mostly biased or outright bribed) youtuber mentions in their happy positive reviews. nor is it mentioned on any of the Forums i have looked in. NO CARD RECORDING WITH CLEAN HDMI OUT CONNNECTED! (it works only with camera settings and focus squares visible in the stream) i guess im the only one stupid enough to be Livestreaming with Canon cameras. as you can probably tell i am VERRRRY dissapoineted. all my Sony shooting friends are jointly chanting "I told you So" to which i can clearly add "I should have known". my trust in the Canon brand is completely broken. i am really considering putting my 6 Canon bodies and 15 lenses on sale and starting a new chapter with a camera brand that i wont be dissapointed with EVERY TIME! i havnt checked the R7 R10 R50 R3 R8 yet, but i have the feeling that this is the case on most if not all new, continuously recording canon hyrid cameras. i just shelled out 3000eu on this camera and all i feel now is anger and frustration and most of all... Bewilderment. WHY CANON?!? sorry for the ranting but maybe this will help someone make a better informed buying decision before getting this otherwise amazing Camera for particularly what i use it for. Thank you and Good Luck! A.

  3. The AF is plenty fast enough for my needs with the S1R but yes, size & weight are one of the 3-3.5k trade offs at this time! I’d rather not stick with the S1R’s after this year though as although they are extremely capable, I don’t like them like I do my S5ii and I don’t love them like my S1H. As I said above, I’m back on that fence waiting to see if there will be a ‘S2R’ and a ‘S2H’ and if so, what are they, and then decide. I know that if I’d gone all S5 at this time, old Pannyboy would bring out some new gems and I’d wish I’d waited and because I don’t ‘need’ to do anything at this time, I bought myself a Smallrig cage, matte box lite and side handle for the S5ii as it will be my principle video unit for 2023, so giving it some love 😉

  5. Popped into my local dealer (Wex), had a quick play with an X-S10 to remind myself of what it's like to hold etc. then pre-ordered an X-S20 - my first ever Fuji camera and the first time I've pre-ordered a camera... Thanks - deciding on lenses is going to be the next thing. I've ordered the camera with the 15-45mm PZ lens - was only £100 more as a kit - just so I've got something to test it with.

  6. I've had my eye on getting that for a while. Unfortunately, I need a bit more capacity for all the shit I've accumulated that I can't let go of so this would have to be me dragging my suitably sized cart to a gig.

  7. Not connected with anything above, I just cancelled my preorders for BOTH S5iiX's. Nothing to do with the camera per se, but I came to the conclusion that if I was going to be shooting 6k 30p 3:2 on the the things, then why not just stick with the S1R's which do 10 bit 5k 30p 3:2? OK, they crop pixel:pixel but that does not bother me and OK, they don't shoot log either, but they produce a really nice clean result in the Flat profile that I am used to working with. AF not needed as I have the S5ii for that. So why spend approx 3000-3500 euros to change? Well I decided it wasn't worth it and actually I gain/retain the 47mp S1R stills capability so that's something. I'm just going to carry on with what I have the rest of this year and wait until there is any sign of an S1R and an S1H replacement and then make any future decisions. So it's back to a pair of S1R's for hybrid on me at all times plus the S5ii purely video on gimbal/tripod for entrances, exits, couple and static stuff with the S1H purely video on tripod for just ceremonies and speeches, ie, most of the day I'll only be working with 2 units, occasionally 3 and at certain times, 4, but then 2 will be static at that point so other than the set up and switching them on, 2 really. I just bought (for 70 euros!!) however, a 4 wheel cart with a handle that I can load all my gear into straight out of the back of my camper/motorhome when at gigs and just trawl the whole lot in; tripods, light stands, light, power bank, extension cables, camera, - the lot...in one single trip. Saves 3-4 trips! Now that IS a worthwhile purchase. Especially as I have gone all in on my lighting now.
