  1. One major thing that the LX10/15 has over the RX100 series is the f1.4 minimum aperture on the wide end. The RX100 series have the sLog profiles but this is mitigated on the LX10/15 if you install my Cinelike D hack. I actually prefer just having Cinelike D as its easier to deal with in a casual camera than sLog having to be exposed at ISO1600. You can add ND to both of course using stick on filter adapters but having to reduce from ISO100 instead of ISO1600 it a lot less problematic in terms of not getting X pattern artefacts etc. Everyone should just get an FZ2000/2500 though as it really is a powerhouse and, if we were brutally honest with ourselves, probably as much of a camera as many of us actually need 😉 Its a bit chunky though so a combination of that and the LX10/15 would be great for travel where the LX could be used where discretion is required but at minimal additional weight with the bonus of the flexibility of two matched cameras (using Cinelike D) instead of one.

  2. Nice work! If you ever see an FZ300 for a good price, buy it. I think you'd like it.

  3. Btw, I found the thread with best buys of og cams @kye🙂 So here is some S16 sensor size pocket love:) Love this little camera. Yesterday I was roaming the lil streets of a calm and humble neighborhood and collected some bits and sights. I then saw this trailer and figured, maybe I can get a small montage around this kewl 80ies vibe vacation waggon. Would not have been possible with my Sony F3.:) Anyway, here is some S16 deep focus pocket video:

  6. RED made a product for the EPIC called the Motion Mount which does ND and global shutter emulation. @Andrew Reid has one and it is fantastic.

  7. No idea about that one. I have a Ring doorbell, and you'd be better off setting up the telescope system in the bunker from Lost rather than using one of those.

  8. Same word, same line, same page Kye. I maybe just didn’t express it as well as I might have!

  9. Hey, thank you for the tip! @mercer Sensor is smaller than from the LX15 though, isn´t it like 1/1.7 or 1/2.3? A Lumix FZ2000 would sport the same sensor as the LX15 or RX series, and 200mbit for perfect HD resolution. Still pretty pricey though. I remember you did a beautiful BW video with the FZ. Will check it out again. I got too many cameras laying around, now two more of them.:) I just bought a Lumix G1 and G3 for photography without having to worry about equipment. I got them dirt cheap from a seller who was so kind to give them away for 25 EUR both, shipping included! Love the old school menues. 🙂

  10. Nice vibe! Is it 30p slowed to 24p? Or BMMCC?

  11. RAW is uncompressed. By definition, anything that isn't RAW is compressed with a lossy compression. By definition, anything compressed with a lossy compression is lower quality than something than RAW. Therefore, RAW is superior in almost all aspects relating to image quality. Your comment: indicates that it's only the ability to colour grade it that is improved, not anything else. In the context of pulling stills out of video files, all image quality aspects are important and relevant, not just the colour grading aspects. Maybe you meant something else, but that's not what you said.

  12. As several people have mentioned here any gopro with wifi enabled, usb powered and using your phone ... you can even record if you see something interesting. Or any cheap wifi surveillance camera that does not require a plan/cloud.... 20-30$ but the quality is quite bad...

  13. From John Brawley: "No. Canon, like Sony won't license their mount. It's an open secret that Red did an IP swap for the ability to use RF mount on some of their cameras and in exchange, Canon can make their own internal raw codec that can be used in-camera. It's easy to test the theory. Name a single camera (not lens) with E mount that isn't made by Sony? Same for Canon with RF (excluding Red)?" https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=173840&start=450#p956719

  14. EF mount kinda soft of ish arguably made sense for BMD in the past, due to EF's immense popularity. But to go with a DSLR mount over Mirrorless in late 2023 is very silly! Yeah, Canon let RED do it, doubtful about letting BMD?? Hope they don't! Because of Canon's restrictions on third party lenses. PL Mount doesn't make sense for the bulk of BMD's customers. However, they will absolutely offer a version in PL, or an adapter for PL. Because their PL customers are still very very important to BMD. Plus sadly Nikon in the filmmaking world doesn't have the same degree of brand recognition as it deserves. But would cover S35. Where is my Pocket6K Pro MFT camera??? 😞 Sony is a far bigger competitor to BMD than Panasonic is. And Sony hasn't been giving out their mount to camera manufacturers. BMD would also give a lot of weight and consideration to anything John Brawley says, and would likely influence their decision making.

  15. Stumbled onto this.. Not perfect by any means, but it's almost entering the 'uncanny valley'. The fan fiction / fan film genre is going to be incredible in a few years...
