    GoPro Hero12

I understand what you want to know and why, but I do not shoot 4K, only 5.3K, I don't shoot clips more than a few minutes in length, and I do not shoot underwater. So, I cannot help you. When one shoots short clips like I do, battery life is irrelevant - carrying an extra GoPro battery and switching are not important burdens. I would suggest searching "Hero 12 underwater video". I found a bunch of videos of people shooting underwater with a Hero 12 and who formerly used a Hero 12. You could ask them in the comments section about battery life. "Fintastic Films" is one example,. That is better than listening to anyone quoting a site or to somebody, like me, who gets nothing from longer battery life (overheating is another thing).

  2. I reached out to Sigma as well as this forum post. This is the reply I've received from them. “In regard to the customer's reply, we currently recognize the difference in color parameters for DNG files recorded with Color Modes or with the Color Mode "OFF '' setting to be a specification of the camera and not a bug. To go a little further, the color mode parameters for any Color Mode that is not "OFF" will have the same color parameters when processed in DaVinci. This was done to render colors more natural to the human eye. The Color Mode "OFF" parameters were chosen to preserve the camera's original gamut. That is why the color processing and white balancing is slightly different between the two. If the user prefers to shoot with any of the Color Modes other than "OFF" selected for ease of filming, then we would recommend them to shoot all video with any of the Color Modes other than "OFF" for continuity in grading. Please inform the customer that their feedback is valuable to use and we will share it with our engineers for consideration in future product development. Also, we would like to thank them for their feedback about the wording in the fp user`s manual. We apologize if the wording was misleading in any way and will consider if any revisions are necessary for more clarity.” I've always had great interactions with Sigma. This is just more proof of that. As colorists though, don't we all prefer the "original gamut" over any creative interpretation?

  3. The startup time on my S5ii is long to the point of me always thinking the battery is flat. Really annoying. I’ve had the unexplained drain as well with a battery that was in for a few weeks. Oddly enough, I’ve just pulled the camera out of my bag to see the lever has moved itself into the ON position whilst travelling (another annoyance as it’s too easy for that to happen) and of course I was fully expecting the battery to be flat and it is still full. So the secret to not draining the battery when it is off might well be to leave the fucker switched on !

  4. Indeed ! I was wondering if ProRes 4444 can be used with the new iPhone 15 Pro and this video gives the response. Good and realistic comparison with bigger sensor cameras, not just oh look it is as good as my Sony FS30. Lots of useful information. iPhone 15 Pro is great for video.

  6. That looks very nice. I recently used the S5IIx with Dehancer in a tutorial video I made. Was shooting this with the Lumix 24-105mm f4, 4k log long gop. This is just a tutorial but the end of the video has some longer sample footage. I was struggling quite a bit with autofocus, but the end results were fine - couldn't get the camera to detect her face the majority of the time, it would just track the body most of the time which is ok but not ideal. I don't know if I was doing something wrong but need to test AF again

  7. The Hawk "emulation" was simply two blur operations, each at a partial opacity. In Resolve: Node 1: Blur -> Blur tool at 0.53 with Key of 0.6 Node 2: Blur -> Blur tool at 1.0 with Key of 0.35 The first one (0.53) is the small radius blur that knocks the sharpening off the edges, and if you were just using this one on its own you might even want to make it closer to 90% opacity. The second one is a huge blur (1.0) that provides the huge halation over the whole image. I use the Resolve Blur tool because it's slightly faster than the Gaussian Blur OFX plugin on my laptop, but the OFX plugin allows much finer adjustments so that might be easier to play with. You can also adjust the size of the blur and the opacity in the same panel, so it might be easier to get the look you want using it. What are you grading? I'd be curious to see any examples if you're able to share 🙂

  8. I see significantly less oversharpening in Apple LOG, which is really nice. Seems like a good option now that that change has been made.
