  1. Now we are talking, the log footage seems very usable and night and day compared to the SDR over sharpend, oversaturated and too much NR. The skin tone and skin texture are much more natural... then if people want to create a plastic look out that I have no problem but the video really demonstrate that the starting image in log is indeed a big step up compared to the past. I'm still confused about the cinematic mode and log as many says that you can not have both at the same time but the above video clary use log with cinematic mode. Either is just BS or maybe the default camera app does not allow this but the Blackmagic one that seem to be used on the above video allows it. It would be nice to see if there is a any big difference in Blackmagic app h265/log vs ProRes/log.. I need to search if somebodies has already done this. Time to upgrade my iPhone....

  2. Last weekend was shocking. Absolute pure evil and terror. A brutal loss of life in Israel. It is understandable they are out for revenge, but it should be Hamas and terrorist groups that get wiped off the face of the earth. Not women and kids. A lot of binary views out there, with people taking sides, that's the nature of war I suppose. This isn't my war. And it isn't even many of theirs. There are so many civilians in that part of the world who want nothing to do with Hamas and just want to live peacefully in their home without the threat of Israeli bombs falling and occupation. Surely we can all agree on this - that women and children should be spared. The Israeli government doesn't seem to want to do that. Many of the young Israeli victims at the music festival who were slaughtered in the prime of their lives also sympathised with the NORMAL people in Gaza who are NOT terrorists. Most people are not in nodding-dog mode USA-government style total adoration of the Israeli government and their politics. I also think it is darkly ironic that so many on the extreme socialist left of Western politics and even many in the LGBTQ community seem to want to think of Hamas as heroic freedom fighters. Actually if these people ever came face to face in reality with Hamas they would be the FIRST in line to get beheaded. I despise the actions of both Hamas and the Israeli government. Palestinian civilians as mere collateral, the occupation of their land, it is all so wrong. Before wiping out terorism in Gaza there should have been a MASSIVE humanitarian effort to evacuate the civilian women & children population by sea. By going ahead with a ground-invasion possibly as early as this weekend, is the Israeli government comfortable to be seen in the eyes of the world to be committing genocide? Does it want the death of nearly 2 million innocent people on their hands and to lose the support of the world's public? Yes they are entitled to destroy Hamas and defend themselves so that what happened last weekend will not be repeated. No, they cannot be allowed to take senseless revenge on Palestinians by bombing kids in their beds, it is the stuff of war crimes. Hopefully people in a binary view, blindly supporting ONE SIDE against the other will be able to come to terms with the fact that no binary argument is ever valid in war. As for the West, we seem to be standing by without any plan whatsoever to get the civilian population out of Gaza to safety. We are sending the navy, warships, no rescue boats, no proper safe corridor into another country, nothing. Of course it would be a big logistical effort, with massive number of security checks, but even a few large ships could save thousands of lives, even if you just take children or those under the age of 18 and their mothers, sisters, brothers. Leave the Hamas hardcore fanatics to fight, and get the kids out of there...

  3. I found a good test video of h265/LOG vs ProRes/LOG with the Blackmagic App.... for most cases you probably can get away with h265/LOG saving the clumsy SSD that defats a bit the concept of using a phone. Files are much smaller and you can do 4k 60p LOG internally.... good to have options https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpO06mdN7mk

  4. The disappointing but absolutely not surprising part is, that this feature doesn't come to the older iPhone Pro (Max) models. It would probably be technically possible to implement the log profile via an update on e.g., iPhone 14 Pro as it already has a 48mp sensor with HDR, but that's not helping the sales cycle from Apple's perspective. I don't think it's impossible from the hardware side to skip some of the (over)processing of the image.

  5. Thanks man! Yeah I had decent experience with the wasabi on the XT3. Had about 5 batteries total. But will see how these two OEM Fuji batteries get me so far to get a gauge.

  6. Enjoy your new camera - these Fujis certainly have a very nice image! I've bought the Wasabi USB dual USB-charger and two batteries pack for each of my cameras (GH5, Canon, GX85 / BMPCC, Sony X3000, GoPro) and had good results with all of these. The batteries don't have as long a lifespan (in years) as the genuine batteries I have purchased, but they still work out to be better value for money. I know they're a third-party company and there's a certain risk to that, but I've found it's a convenient and cheap way to get spare batteries and be able to charge in-bulk.

    A6700 vs. XS20

If you learn to colour grade then your images will be nicer than either of these by a very wide margin. On camera forums it is standard practice to compare cameras using only the manufacturers LUT or some standard transform, which is a reasonable way to compare cameras, but when you go into the world of colourists and colour grading they will often break down colour grades step-by-step, and compared to the final graded image the standard 709 conversion looks like pallid anaemic garbage in comparison - even with Alexas and REDs. Seriously, buy the camera and lenses and accessories that are most compatible with your workflow and then learn to colour grade. Even if you only apply a film-emulation LUT and then adjust exposure, contrast, WB, saturation, and sharpening, you'll be creating images that absolutely smoke the standard conversions.

  8. Update: My XS20 came one day early. I must say, this is the first camera I’ve bought in years, where it didn’t include a battery charger but rather a usb c to usb c cable and wall port. Now the camera store I bought it from included an extra OEM Fuji battery free of charge however, the dual Fuji battery charger is about the same price so I guess it evened out. Build quality feels a little less than XT3 I had, but not in a bad way just is what it is. I think I will actually like the simple controls and smaller size. Overall feels very solid still, not quite a pro body but wasn’t expecting it to feel that way. I think the smaller size will also make it more discrete when shooting in public or on vacation. Looking forward to shooting with it this weekend and getting some test footage.
