  1. Died completely as in they could no longer be formatted and inserting them in the camera gave the No Card error. I couldn't use them on any other camera or format/rescue them with desktop software. And they were the faster versions; the ones recommended for the BMPCC; I had two of them and they both died. They were reliable while they worked and never dropped frames. In contrast I'm still using the SanDisk cards I bought in 2016 for my OG BMPCC, which have been reformatted hundreds of times, and they still perform like champs. (I don't think any card made by SanDisk today will work in the OG BMPCC or BMMCC). The Angelbirds and now my Sony will take over once those SanDisks finally bite the dust.

  2. And someone sent me a seller offer on EB today for a Jinbei 200W daylight COB for £80. Would have been churlish to refuse. I'm a little intrigued, as I have a feeling they are made by the same outfit. We will see! (Did I mention that I have something of a cheap light fetish?)

  3. Which is no timecode support at all 😞 What's the flash syc port connector that you use? Looking that part up on Aliexpress might find a cheap cable for you for a just a few bucks

  4. Well... it definitely has time code support of some kind, but I think it is more similar to the S5 (original, and possibly the S5 II / X are similar). I can't confirm either way about getting timecode though the flash sync port since I didn't get a BNC-to-flash-port adapter :( However, with firmware 2.1 on my S1, there is no "External Timecode Settings" menu available (while the S1H has that option), so there is no way to set a TC Syncronization, as far as I can tell, through the menu. I'll try looking in to it a bit more later on. But I think that we just are stuck recording audio timecode to the left channel and then converting to metadata in Resolve. (Suck it, Premiere Pro users!!!) Unrelated Rant: Wish there was an easy way to store those flash sync port covers when you remove them.

  5. Cool film, only let down by the poor codec and lack of ND. I understand why you'd want to have a sponsor and why you'd want to tell a story with a phone in comparison to not telling it at all, but if you had freedom to choose and you were already getting a bunch of people on set and putting all that time and effort into something and then a phone sure isn't my first choice. Same comments as above, but you can definitely see the stronger codec in this piece compared to the Xaiomi.

  6. haha blame these "fantastic" AI-like tools of today! I wanted to click to let it expressed a 'big thanks like' as not so rare about something coming from yours or @kye or@mercer among some other favs of mine and the damned button on my touchscreen went to some 'confused like' instead... and "they" even call it intelligent world we all live in nowadays where machines click on our behalf if we don't stand corrected them as next follow-up ; ) sorta policeman 24/24 : P Let the machines rule over our heads and we will see all where we'll end : X
