And that's a big reason why sales have dropped off a cliff, not just because of the rise of better smartphones (although that's a huge reason too!).2 points

Indeed. As above, for videographers, the specs have been there for a few years now re. sensors etc and it’s more the other stuff such as stabilisation and potential of in camera VND’s etc that interests me. For photographers, even longer. Lenses, I think there’s still a lot more scope with faster and more compact options being my interest. My holy grail is the max performance out of the smallest units, bodies and lenses. Stuff such as the Sigma FP, the Lumix S9 and for stills, the Sony A7RV and compact zooms such as Sigma’s 28-70mm f2.8 and Tamron’s 28-75mm f2.8. These combos for me are ‘peak camera’ in almost every way so for anything to come in the future, there’s nothing I actually need or even want. But stuff such as even better IBIS, intended VND, greater DR etc are all welcome.2 points

if you pannysvhs attack me personally, either use this alias, or the sanveer alias, you sacrifice much more than me. I make videos for my own YouTube channel. I don't need to please producers or directors or agency managers. I am based in North America, not in Europe. this forum is not my local community. I come here to know the latest hybrids, which is the forte of this forum. I can express whatever I think is right on video making here. it does not affect my real life at all. but you are different. this forum is your local community. some of the members may know you in person professionally. if you give an impression of attacking other members personally because they are not in accordance with your ideas on video making, you are in big trouble in your real life. if I am a producer or a director based in europe, I am not going to hire a dp who is going to bad mouth me and spread rumors about me if I can not please him professionally. you are losing real life job opportunities due to your bad behavior here on this online forum. sorry, pannysvhs/sanveer, you have more to lose to have a war against me. if you don't believe what I say, you can go on your personal attack on me. I will counteract your unprofessional behavior accordingly. you will be back burned. lol.1 point

Guys, stop telling other guys to quit doing jokes, which they could get sued for by the two Ebrahims. Getting sued by the two Ebrahims is an opportunity of a lifetime two witness them live for first time ever!1 point

Do you mean the uncle who was the president of a filmschool or the nephew, student of the cinema arts of that very same university? Both of them were very prominent posters on this forum. I think moderators or Andrew himself banned that alias due to a fraud. That was a good one!😂 You almost had me believe you would be the two Ebrahims.😂 Each swinging around with a Red One on their shoulders and filming a magnus opus while talking to their top of the crop lawyers. MX sensor of course! Gentlemen of great taste only settle with the very best.1 point

1st shooting session last night. What a memorable show! The Waterboys version 2024 is a terrific must. Their performance on stage is one of the best gigs I've ever seen in my life... To hear this Scottish-Irish band playing hits such as (let's only mention a couple!) 'AND A BANG ON THE EAR' or 'THE PAN WITHIN' live is simply thrilling... literally. One of the best bands ever. Mike Scott is a star of the history of folk rock in the body of a man. The older the best, as I had opportunity to personally let him know he is like Port wine, today : ) BTW I have a chance to offer to this community... To those who will be interested to locally shoot their concerts, we can launch a footage archive of their performances in the coming years. PM me as you wish on this purpose of mine launched here now. I think these boards should be more mutual cooperation of this gang's gigs than has rarely been TBH :- ) And I will tell you the only beef against the usual mirrorless toys ; ) Bulky and weight. Light glass without cumbersome adapters is a bless... ; ) Osmo Pocket : D saved us a lot of times! Incredible tool! All the rest has no challenge. Monitor, menus and BRAW have no competitor and are what a cinema camera should be.1 point

if it is a sunny day and you shoot at the noon, you can put up a canopy on top of those two beauties. Or drag those two ladies to some shade. There are ways to handle high dr.1 point

As 2/3" sensors cameras like the F23 were mentioned. It is possible to optically adapted B4 lens with a B4 to PL mount adapter like the Abakus 321 adapter to cover the super 16 sensor crop 4k mode of GH5, GH6, GH7 (you would use a PL to m4/3 to mount it on the GH). You could also shoot on a number of Blackmagic cameras with a Blackmagic B4 Optical Adapter... there was a company who was using the optics of the Blackmagic B4 mount as the optics of their B4 to m4/3 adapter. Or you could make one of your own out of the Blackmagic B4 mount a m4/3 adapter and spacers and step rings and drill press and screws, nut and washers are required. The thing about 2/3 zoom lenses is because of the typical 10x to 12x zoom range you can have a dramatic depth of field decrease when zooming in with a constant aperture B4 lens. The following video has a mix of a Broadcast zoom lens, Sony full frame and Canon aps-c shots. All of the slow motion and zooming is via a B4 broadcast zoom lens (I don't think I had the 2x internal extender engaged on the B4 lens on the USRA 12k in Super 16 crop mode.) Sometimes you can see the vignetting, which I chose over less light as the 240fps really cuts the available light... and the 2x extender would have cut it in half again. Thanks! Mark1 point

Panasonic GH7
IronFilm reacted to Benjamin Hilton for a topic
Yeah, like photographers, there is very little reason for companies to want to upgrade their gear anymore. It's pretty much a matter of waiting until cameras and such are hitting retirement physically, then choosing an "upgrade" that makes the most sense feature and budget wise. We have an FX6, A7IV, two FX30s, an R7, and a GH5 we use for various projects spread across several studios in two different countries. All those cameras have pros and cons, and work well for different things, but for the most part cut together when needed. At this point the only reason we would buy a new camera is when an old one bites the dust.1 point -

That’s actually one of my best investments. Along with the motorhome/RV. The moho/RV saves me around €7k per annum that I am not spending on bed & board and will claw back around 35-40% of its purchase price after 10 years use. The cart will be worth fuck all after 10 years, if it even lasts that long…which I doubt, but every wedding I use it at (which is almost all of them) it’s been invaluable. Single trip from van to somewhere convenient within the venue with all my kit loaded up which otherwise would be 3-4 walking trips each end of the day. Last job of the year it’s going to be especially useful as it’s nearly 1km from the closest parking to the church with no drop off opportunity as the roads are too tiny and I can’t get close. But I can trundle my trolley 2km. Kind of…1 point

Funnily enough, only yesterday I picked up a piece of gear that you featured in a previous episode. Not the camper van unfortunately but the cart. Currently on special in Aldi for the bargain price of £44.99 So, thats the transportation sorted for the kinky amount of 135mm lenses I've acquired over the years. Will need the camper van for transporting the therapy triggering number of 24 and 35mm lenses.1 point
