  2. I honestly think they just want to be more competitively priced against the new Canon C400 and the Sony lineup. The RED Komodo appeal outside of VFX work, speciality rig, and crash cam is owner op and the C400 is very apealing for that market given it's price and what it offers.

    Two New L Mount Lenses

If only there was a member of this forum who uses L Mount for video and Sony for stills who has been praying for a ‘one & done’ constant aperture f2.8 lens ranging from 28 to about 100mm whilst weighing max 1kg. If only there was a member of this forum this lens was designed for…

  4. I think Nikon/RED discounted because Nikon will come out with a cinema camera that will fill the Kimono space (something in lines to the C70 / FX3 FX6). I’ve heard Nikon will take those entry camera sales and RED will stick to high end lines. I’m interested to see what a Nikon cinema camera looks like.

  6. Ah, sure. If we just make the pockets bigger, it will easily fit. If that's the case, my Mavic 3 Pro is also "pocketable." 😉

  7. Well, this is the camera that DJI have announced today. Not quite sure it fits into the the mirrorless disruptor category although it does look like it can fit in your pocket.

  8. High-end production and film industry is in real trouble at the moment. Stuff is not selling. From ARRI, RED, all the way down to vintage lenses on eBay there has been a real slump in demand. It was good timing for RED to sell up to Nikon. Not so great for Nikon though. The question is how long this slump is going to last... Streaming giants are cutting back on new production. Cinemas closing left right and centre across the world. TV is struggling for ad money and social media is taking over casual viewing in the home with GenZ. So it remains to be seen how long RED can last and whether the market correction for high-end gear is going to be significant and permanent, especially with AI on the horizon.

For you vintage lens fans, here's an oldie but a goodie... I was able to get out over the weekend with my FP and I finally tested the 10bit cDNG mode... hat tip to @BTM_Pix for recommending that mode... feels really solid while saving some storage space... and I brought out the Minolta MC 55mm 1.7. Wide open it's a little glowy, but not bad, but stopped down to 2.8 and I feel it shines...
