No it has that via "view assist" option. Only during shooting though, not playback. What I meant though is that unlike R5C, you can't load custom LUTs and view/bake them in the file like on most cine cams.

So the SL2, very nice now it's much more affordable but turns out in my tests so far it's still fucking broken as it doesn't shoot 4K with the original battery and certain lenses... That is, Panasonic 50mm F1.4 S, Sigma MC-21 adapter, erm pretty much everything that isn't from Leica's own L-mount range. So it's quite a serious problem. I thought this was fixed with the new Q3 battery and new firmware updates, and the SL2-S was supposed to work from the outset. Now it seems the problem is more complicated than it appears when you are sold the camera. So I took the SL2 back for a test today at the Berlin store, only to be met with a lot of eye-rolling and a blame game: - Panasonic is to blame, apparently their lenses are faulty! - The customer is to blame, apparently I am an idiot who is using the wrong type of L-mount lenses - The Sigma MC-21 is to blame, and Canon too... For their EF lenses on the official Sigma L-mount adapter are so badly made that the Leica SL2 refuses to even do a burst shoot - And of course as a customer, I am not just to blame but also WRONG! Wrong knowledge, wrong approach, wrong skillset, blah blah blah. Have a read of that... It's the battery's fault. And he said there would be a firmware update to mitigate it, and the battery grip would also be the solution to the fact that the SL2 battery is so shit it can't even power the autofocus motors at the same time as shooting 4K. Needless to say the Leica SL2 is now back at the store, and refunded after much finger pointing. Doesn't make me want to go back there any time soon. When it was run by Meister Camera, this store was a gem https://www.meister-camera.com Now it's run by Leica, what happened? A total change in attitude and staff knowledge. It's a pity they didn't just admit the problem still existed, was Leica's fault and not the customers, and then sold me their spare SL2-S which has better compatibility with the full L-mount ecosystem. I would have left a Leica customer, nevertheless the experience was so shit, even the thought of buying the EOS R5 appeals more than another SL2 now 😉 And that's a bloody flame thrower!

There are nicer fountains in other places, some of them even doing light and music shows - but there are a bunch of celebrities and dentists who would like to explain to you how the very basic fountain in that photo gets all of the other stuff out of the way so that the observer can really just focus on the true joy of a fountain, moving water.

I’ve been in a few camera shops over the years….ahem. Across all those times in different shops in different cities and different countries, I have only been treated with that sort of contempt twice. Both times were in Leica stores. It was very much like this..

Yeah it was tough to finally come out of the daze of the Canon DSLR cripple hammer era into what you thought was a completely fresh start with amazing video capabilities, only to have Canon make it unusable for anything serious and with such a devious tactic as well. That said, they have recovered admirably and now that you don't have to part with $4500 for one, it makes a lot more sense. There are not any other 8K RAW full frame 4K 120fps cameras available for $2300 on the second hand market. The Nikon Z8 is too new and still $3500+, the Z9 is hovering around $4200 and the Sony a1 is still very much in demand around the same 4k mark... So the R5 having the advantage of being an old and common tool has depreciated very nicely. Now the R5 II is out the quantities of EOS R5 will flood onto the used market in even greater numbers and we could be seeing it going down to around $1500 in a years time. Agree with you about the IBIS, it's the one thing that lets it down but as the well respected EOS R5 C (C stands for non-cripple hammer edition) shows maybe it's possible to get by without it. The EOS R5 C drives the sensor at 8K 120fps by the way... The 4K/120p is oversampled! How Canon came up with this fast of a sensor when it isn't even a stacked design blows my mind.

Denizens of the internet... I present to you the Panasonic Q It is Netflix approved with 6K open gate. Phase-detect AF and IBIS Leica lenses (And some nifty Noktons) In-camera LUTs And still nobody cares because it has a Lumix badge - not a Sony. Yes, it is as small as a Leica Q. Yes, it is much better for video than a Leica Q. The Leica Q3 is 6300 euros. This set me back 1299 special offer in Olive Green. The lens can be changed... On the Leica Q you are stuck to a fake Leica lens that needs heavy digital correction to look ok. It has IBIS... the Q of course doesn't. And in the end, they are both the smallest full frame cameras you can get along with a Sony RX1R II or Sigma Fp/L So in conclusion, Panasonic are doomed. The social media response to this camera made it out to be some sort of silly toy. It just goes to show how uncreative these zealots are. Would it have been nice to have a built in EVF, the only feature aside from extra resolution you get for your 6300 euros on a Q3? Of course. Would it have been nice to be Leica grade in terms of materials, looks, and so on? Well it's not THAT far off really. There has never been such a good image and wide range of features in a camera this small or cheap, end of story. Add a Sigma 35mm F2 or Voigtlander M 40mm F1.2 and enjoy!

Came here just to put this link, heheheh Will try this Arri Log trick in my X-S20. About the X-M5 - dismissed it because it have no EVF and IBIS (and I have the X-S20, that have the same internals). But this damn thing is so cute and is the 1st Fuji with a very competitive price launched in a long time (looking at you, X-T50), that I'm tempted. And compared to the camera that is its competitor, the Sony ZV-E10 II, apart from the AF, it is better in almost every aspect. And cheaper. Very good move, Fuji. Now bring me a X-E5 with IBIS, EVF and a 40mp sensor (for stills - the X-S20 is MUCH better than the 40mp models for video).

Shhh, don’t want to hear that… Actually, it would not be the end of the world, at least my world, if they never made another FF camera because the S5ii does all I need it to do and arguably, could see out my working life with them. I think it’s unlikely though. The S5ii has been and is pretty popular, at least on MeTube…but not sure if that has any relation to actual sales, but you mostly only come across praise. So I would be highly surprised if there wasn’t and Lumix are not like Sony and bang out new cameras every year and how long did it take for both the GH6 and GH7 to appear?! I have faith something FF is coming, but slightly surprised no 1/2 price SL3 which is slightly concerning… I don’t ‘need’ a S2H or an S2R, but might want one…or both, and the world will just be a better place with them in it regardless 💫

Panasonic GH7 sensor = On-semi? (ARRI Alexa 35 = On-semi) Perhaps there's a move to On-semi away from Sony for the full frame cameras. That's the good excuse for the delay. The bad excuse for the delay is that they ain't coming at all... But until the white smoke rises from the Tuscany villa, who am I to say? 🙂
