  1. Just finished a 5 day indian wedding shoot, so far the only time it overheated was when I forgot to turn the external fan on. (Shooting 4k25p all day, and it's summer here atm) I also did 1 and half hour interview in 3.8k opengate, that was without the fan but indoor, but towards the end I do see the overheating icon popping up.

  2. Unfortunately, according to multiple youtubers who reviewed the new firmware, it's not.

  3. I agree the RX100/ZV-1 are pretty small (literally 'fit in the palm of your hand' cameras), but I think the ZV-1 combination of very small size, zoom lens, decent on-board sound (with an included wind muff!), mic jack, hot shoe and decent video/stills capability is hard to beat without going up significantly in camera size/weight/cost. The ZV-E10ii and X-M5 with their respective power-zoom kit lenses are probably the obvious 'upgrade' candidates.

  4. Sure thing. I agree about the Leica tax but I’ve found a few SL2 right at $2,000 now and for me the difference in S1R at $1,300 isn’t very much and is justified by it having the Log profile, Leica styled body and the Leica color science/tuning. I need the high res stills for a magazine project but shoot video so the camera has to do double duty as a B cam for interviews. I would get an S5 AND a S5iix for the $2200 the SL2-S is going for now. Not a good buy in my opinion unless money is no object. But at that point the SL3-S is the way to go.

I love the IQ of my FS7. Nice chunky 4K 10-bit XAVC-S. You can bake in LUTs. I really don't see much difference in specs to the current Sony cams (FX30, FX3, FX6 etc) aside for extreme low-light. Ergonomics are great for shoulder mount, its a workhorse. I keep mine because Sony is used everywhere in pro use and it gives me work. Don't really feel a need to upgrade. That being said for personal hybrid projects I prefer Canon/Nikon. I'd recommend R5C or Z8 if you're a hybrid shooter. Personally I'm thinking of going for R5 mk2 mainly because of Clog2 and tiny bitrate SRAW, total game changer. Guess a C70 would be a good cop, great form factor with NDs and long battery life with that DGO sensor, only caveat is the image is a little too soft for my taste.

  6. Starting edit for Experiment 2. First step is to apply a basic grade and get a tone for the project. It was hot as hell, humid as hell, and hazy, so the grade is in that general direction. Grade is mostly Film Look Creator and then ARRI709 LUT, with only basic contrast / exposure adjustments. I might try to cool the shadows a bit and balance off some of the brown, but it's a start. I compared it to some 200T scans and it's a lot closer than I thought it would be.
