  1. Ever felt like owning a cheaper Komo... Erm, small dragon-like camera? Well now you're in luck. The Sony RX0 II has morphed into a living, fire breathing Super 16mm cinema camera thanks to this mod adding an exchangeable Micro Four Thirds & C-mount lens mount, removable IR cut filter and fast apertures to your previously drab F4.0 action-camera. Read the full article
  2. Oh. Hello. RX0 Micro Four Thirds mount? How much is it and is it an easy mod?
  3. I wonder if people who shoot 30p thinking it's better complain when they are at the cinema of stuttering and juddering? Or if they have just been playing far too many Fortnite sessions at 120fps and their eyes are fucked. It's only viable if you eat your clients afterwards.
  4. Hint hint. Keep checking your notes. You're doing a good job.
  5. Everybody stop, we have been wrong all along for 10 years since the 5D Mark II came out with that silly 24p firmware patch, why they bothered with that and didn't just stick to 30p I don't know. All that stutter and judder from the cinema frame rate, damn my computer screen for not being a flickering 24hz scan rate, it's all the fault of those damned LCD panels!! Yes I wondered why the Arri Alexa looks so shit on my LG OLED. Bloody 24fps strikes again. Tut tut tut. *Checks notes* Canon are completely right to remove 24p and it has *checks notes* nothing to do with protecting the higher-end cameras. Better warn all those C200 users shooting their silly mismatched 24p for Netflix. They should all be shooting at 60p to avoid judder, and recommending people turn their TVs to Motion Smoothing mode, especially for those fancy daytime soap operas we used to call "films" like Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk. Quick somebody tell Scorsese! Why won't he get the 30p 60p memo??? Doesn't he know his scan lines are juddering and stuttering? And damn that bloody Spielberg still living in 1984. An affliction you mean? Yes, the look of cinema is the scourge of filmmakers everywhere. They should really go to a doctor for that 24p disease. I don't know how much you guys in these PR offices get paid by companies like Canon but I am fascinated by the work and script writing you put in. Should do a documentary about it... Shot in 30p of course.
  6. I am pretty sure since 2016 when David Bowie left us and Trump got elected we have been living in a different parallel universe where nothing makes sense any more. 24p now the stuff of 'film wannabes' is it? You are a big old troll. And you need to fuck off.
  7. Maybe a sticky thread, not really enough posts about Z-cam for an entire sub forum.
  8. Are you shooting all your stuff in 30p at the moment or 24/25p?
  9. 30fps RAW burst would hint at Canon finally having a modern sensor in the camera. However what Canon's technical capabilities are and what they gave us in 4K, are normally two very different things
  10. It means they finally caught up with a 2015 Sony or a 2014 Panasonic?
  11. Ah good choices everyone. Some interesting ones, like the Fuji E900 I didn't expect. That one was famous for the film-like look back in the day. Some artists still admire the RAW images from it. https://***URL removed***/interviews/5683481585/sofi-lee-on-digital-nostalgia Did you try any stills?
  12. Would definitely like to see D mount lenses on Q Also, every lens should have a Summer / Winter dial
  13. I don't agree. No more speculation. This thread is going to be closed now. I think we need to get back to talking about cameras and codecs rather than legal battles. This isn't what I got into filmmaking for.
  14. Open source = socialism I agree it works for certain things but it can end up with a race to the bottom just like people on YouTube giving away all their knowledge for free - some has to be paid, otherwise, how do you invest the money back into making more? What I think Blackmagic are up to is interesting, regarding the Pocket 4K and 6K - it's almost like a loss-leader for Resolve - How can Blackmagic make any money whatsoever on the prices of the Pocket cameras, especially the 4K? So why does it exists, what business purpose does it serve? Most likely it exists to further the adoption of Resolve and feed into their ecosystem in the pro world. Would RED be open to licensing REDCODE to companies like Panasonic for an S1H-style camera, or is that never something Jarred, Graeme, Jim et al have considered?
  15. *** THE RESULTS ARE IN! *** Congratulations to @PannySVHS for winning the Best Cinematography EOSHD Forum Oscar Congratulations to @Framed_By_Dan for winning the Best Image Quality category! Now comes the sticky bit... I see that @Nordee and @leslie came joint last with no votes in either category. Very unfair!! Therefore dear Nordee has an opportunity to mail off their camera to @PannySVHS and then Panny send it back with some tips and post what he shot on it Sir Leslie can give his camera to @Framed_By_Dan if he wants - none of this is obligatory, and Framed By Dan will give it back after - right? I'll announce my EOSHD Judge's prize later in the week when my entry is posted on the front blog. Feel free to now REVEAL what you bought for under $200 and shot the entires with. I for one am looking forward to finding out...
  16. All that can indeed happen, plenty of room in the market for everyone. But it would be foolish of RED to not enforce their legal rights where there's millions of dollars involved in potential licensing fees so I can see why they are engaging Apple in the patent dispute. In the smartphone industry as well this happens all the time, and they can all sell their similar technology but somebody needs to sort out the economic side, and that's what the US patent office is for I guess. Personally, as a filmmaker I just want everything for free Come on Nikon hurry up with that internal ProRes RAW for $1.5k
  17. Feel free to edit up your piece and post it anyway mate. Always interesting to see what people come up with.
  18. They don't honour things like this. I once pre-ordered the Nikon Z6 £1000 too cheap on Amazon and they cancelled the entire order
  19. Ah I see, yes I see it as well now. Going to get in touch with them.
  20. Hmm. I just I wish people like Gizmodo would run the story past me first to check if I am happy for them to run it and make their opinions on it, before taking it to big wild world. Update - just read it
