I understand that the honest truth in written form is hard to take for fanboys, but remind me now who needs to grow up.

Tomorrow I'll be doing a blog post with my favourite submissions in it. In the post I will clear up how we go from here... I suggest we go for 1 more week of submissions. However to make the blog post more interesting, I am going to reveal one of my choices of camera and post the video I shot with it tomorrow. Maybe it will give some people some ideas and spice things up. The voting will then take place after 1 more week of shooting... You can reveal your choices of camera too, but after the voting in a week. If I reveal mine straight away, that would make for a more interesting blog post and not affect the results, as I am not eligible to win. I will however be making one of the submitted videos under an anonymous pseudonym, which I am eligible for in the forum vote Time to get registering that Fake forum account

Amazing actor. Embodied Bladerunner's whole concept in one character. Amazing sense of that he felt the role for real while acting it. Time to die. But never to be forgotten in a billion years. RIP!!

Stuck in an iterative rut with no experimentation on form or concept, with no imagination or new ideas, Sony is in danger of becoming merely a "specs" company, designing only by committee and median user feedback. Read the full article

Making a "Hollywood" Music Video (THIS. IS. NOT. SATIRE.)
Andrew Reid replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
It's not THAT funny, it's one of those things that works better if you think it's real, than as an obvious comedy. Quite subversive. Creative scene is definitely ripe for piss-taking that's for sure. Especially modern music scene with the "gangster" white hipsters and their edgy tats and dreadful taste in music. Get a drum machine and talk over it = art? Fuck off. -
FINALLY!! A Sony RX100 with a mic jack! (& flip up screen)
Andrew Reid replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
Why not? You get it with a smartphone. Dude, this is 2019. This camera is an expensive upgrade at $1200 just to get a fucking 5 cent mic jack component and a different hinge. Sony is the new Canon. -
Making a "Hollywood" Music Video (THIS. IS. NOT. SATIRE.)

Rich kids being gangster. Nothing worse on this planet. It's all a bit Spinal Tap... But so close to the awful truth of hipsters in the creative industry -
Huge congrats to the entries so far. As there are still a lot of people who haven't submitted theirs yet and deadline is very close, I might extend it for a bit longer. What do you guys think? 24th original end-date is this Wednesday! Indeed! I saw what has been happening in HK. STAY SAFE and prosper... You have all of our support for your gem of a city. I have been to Hong Kong before and found it really inspired me creatively, I loved its independent spirit. You made something good out of the dark weekend regardless The colours and dynamic range came out incredibly well. Is it a 4K cam or just 1080? Yes it is, unless we extend it for a couple of days... Let's discuss it, and I'll consider any requests from people who did buy a camera, but are late shooting or editing.

Z Cam E2 will have ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FPS in 4K??
Andrew Reid replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
A codec is a codec. Job of a codec is to encode (hence the name) an image. Compression is a form of encoding an image. No need to separate the terms. H.265 is a codec, simple as that. Not helpful to say it's not a video camera codec when it's used in video cameras. It has hardware acceleration on a GPU. That doesn't make it exclusively a computer GPU codec. Stop reading what ever you have been doing, because it's a load of twaddle. It's designed for delivery and acquisition... Acquisition of high resolution with small file sizes, especially on smartphones, and delivery of the same. Makes no sense to say it is designed for only one part of the job. If it is doing something it isn't designed to do, it's doing it pretty well. Like H.264, these things aren't designed with just the decoding and streaming side in mind, they are designed for acquisition and encoding in a device as well. -

Where are you getting this idea from? -
The YI M1 mirrorless MFT camera with 12-40mm lens is now on sale for $150

I recommend putting 2 entries in. One 4K camera, and one in the spirit of the rules -

ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY! -
MC-21 doesn't support AF-C or video, so how?!
-
And in my experience too. It's up to the camera to set the right As Shot white balance and Hue for instance, when it comes to RAW... Otherwise, it's off to the RSI doctors for you.

Z Cam E2 will have ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FPS in 4K??

Even if they made their own Z-Cam-Mount with adapters to all sorts, to avoid infringing on anybody's patents, it would be a superior option to just EF and PL, and keep the size of the camera down as well. -
The beauty of it for me is the modular main Pocket Controller... I really liked how BTM_Pix just plugs his different tools into that and it acts as a clever wireless bridge to the camera. The manual follow focus dial, shirt pocket size, was lovely to use as well. It's also amazing that LiDAR, once reserved for the military and sciences, can now be so widely applied and affordably! Just don't mention the price of Arri's system!! Pocket 4K users will love it.

The X-T3 had the most bangers in there, but must admit he seems to flatter it even more in terms of the model's better poses. Or maybe the Fuji, because it actually feels like a camera, got the best out of HIM?!

Time of Flight / LiDAR continuous autofocus is really quite remarkable technology. There are rumours Panasonic will implement it on future cameras like the GH6. Don’t you wish the current autofocus-challenged cameras like the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K or GH5 could have amazingly smooth Dual Pixel AF-like performance? Well, you could soon be in luck. Time of Flight Autofocus is a reality and I’ve seen it working. With this prototype add-on, a Time of Flight sensor sits in the hotshoe and talks wirelessly to the Pocket 4K. The autofocus motors in the Micro Four Thirds lens are commandeered based on real-time depth sensing information from the LiDAR beam. I met up with CDA-TEK’s Ian (BTM_Pix on the forum) this week in Manchester to take a look at what he’s been working on. Read the full article

Very keen to try the 4K 160fps internal recording and upcoming RAW codec. https://www.eoshd.com/2019/07/the-2000-z-cam-e2-gets-upgraded-to-4k-160fps-with-firmware-update-raw-coming-later/ S35 version should definitely take a leaf out of JVC's book and be Micro Four Thirds!!
