  1. It's not about 8K It's about all the other stuff... 2015 video specs, crap codec, crap colour, confusing menus, no 4K/60, 30p max, no 240fps, 120fps max in 1080p, no in-between resolution for 120fps despite faster sensor technology, I mean why would you want to upgrade to something which is basically the same as a 2 year old A7R III for hybrid stills/video, now that much better options exist? For 61 megapixels alone?
  2. Funny that Sony Alpha Rumors got leaked a fake slide from one of their most trusted sources!! What's all that about? Hadn't they better give us the 7S3 first??
  3. My thoughts. It's a snore fest of committee led numbers at expense of real, bold creative design decisions. https://www.eoshd.com/2019/07/sony-a7r-iv-no-8k-no-10bit-no-nd-no-point/
  4. For Sony images are all about numbers, not feeling.
  5. Is it fake? SR5 according to the rumours bible. And where the effing hell is the A7S III?
  6. We already know https://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/28270-sony-a7r-iv-a7s-iii-a9-ii-to-feature-8k-video-as-new-60mp-and-36mp-full-frame-sensor-specs-leak/#comments
  7. Hands up... Who exposes the main subject like this? Answer: NOBODY!
  8. That benchmark is only testing continuous 14bit RAW stills write speed. XQD can go higher than 240MB/s. Regardless, that rate is still fast enough for 4K RAW even without ProRes RAW's compression. Z6 also now supports CFexpress media. I'm going from my own experience not American market. Regardless I see at B&H the Z7 body alone is now reduced by $646 which is a lot. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1431737-REG/nikon_z7_mirrorless_digital_camera.html I bought my Z6 for 2800 euros inc. 24-70mm. That's a terrible deal compared to what is now on offer in Europe and UK with all the Nikon marketing rebates and cash back. Also from grey market stores you can now get the Z6 body only for £1400. The 50mm F1.8 on Amazon in Germany was 369 last month, down from 699 euros. This was just a press release to coincide with NAB in April. You picked that out, but missed all the earlier ones. Atomos announcement of ProRes RAW with Z6 was made much earlier at CES January is 6 months ago. Knowledge is a virtue.
  9. So called source is talking about the production costs / R&D expense of making the camera, not the market pricing of it. Then again I wouldn't expect a rumours site to let the truth get in the way of a good headline.
  10. I'd like to give you an idea of what it's like being a Nikon mirrorless camera owner... Read the full article
  11. Image quality is definitely above average for the size. I can see quite a few uses for one. Ages ago, back in 2015 when I still lived in Berlin, I took the original OSMO out for a ride and had a hoot with it. Seems to have come a long way since then. https://www.eoshd.com/2015/12/my-dji-osmo-fairground-shoot-plus-a-mini-review/ No idea what the bigger, newer OSMOs are like but the small Pocket seems to be a lot more popular. Original thread here:
  12. The Osmo Pocket is also an epic achievement, just a totally different thing. I still would encourage a thread about it. Might start one myself. The image comes off very well in the Japanese video that's for sure.
  13. It's just a stupid comparison full stop. Criticising one of the best medium format cameras in the world because you can't swing it around on a stick and put it in your pocket. Remind me to tell Fuji's engineers they have really fucked up here. Sure you can gain the versatility for certain tracking shots in more convenient ways... Big whoop. Osmo is still a smartphone camera on a stick. Go and open an Osmo Pocket thread instead rather than dragging a completely unrelated camera topic off into Lala land.
  14. Nope, going to continue defending the cutting edge Fuji in light of this new threat posed by the Osmo with it's smartphone sensor. It's just a fact that the Fuji can do a lot more. Not really controversial although facts in 2019 do seem to be. People rejecting them left right and centre. Camera movement versus quality of a locked down shot is a different topic and applies to all sorts of kit. There are not many cameras that float like an airborne slider, such as the Osmo is able to do, but comparing it to medium format just denies all sorts of technical and lens related FACTS
  15. So we are comparing 1/2.3" sensor to medium format now? The Osmo Pocket is a very cool little tool but we all know there is a massive difference in the look.
  16. Same reason Magic Lantern also offer 8bit and 10bit raw... Reduces file size and reduces cost of media as it doesn't need such fast cards. It's a form of compression basically. Oh yes, it took 7 years for camera industry to deliver what Magic Lantern achieved on 2012 hardware Well done camera industry. Give them another few months and they will even do playback in-camera!! And not in monochrome only! I've wanted a small, affordable, uncompressed raw video shooting full frame camera forever.
  17. EXTERMINATE! Amazing what people keep as exotic pets these days. Whatever you picked up there for £133 it is good. Plenty of detail.
  18. Magenta in the WEX video 100% a result of their grade. Aggressive NR is = YouTube's compression. So here are some ORIGINAL files to play with straight off my card. 1.4GB's worth. https://we.tl/t-rELYefyjCr These are 10bit 422 V-LOG / V-Gamut on default settings. I recommend avoiding VLC Player to look at these especially on a Mac. Messes up the gamma curve. They won't play in Quicktime either. Pop em in Resolve or your NLE of choice and give them a good LUT. I used Fuji's F-LOG to Eterna BT709 LUT which worked well and built in Premiere Arri Amira LUT in Premiere was a good match. Lens: Nikon 55mm F1.2 AI with variable ND filter
  19. I think this is genuinely a HUGE step. Rarely, do we get such a big leap out of nowhere like this. I've never felt like any other camera was anything other than just good, or expected in 2019. This is different. It's like having a full frame Pocket 4K with nobs on... from the future. This image sits in the cinema world, not the video one. I've shot some S1 10bit V-LOG with it this weekend. Here's a frame: Compared to the X-T3 10bit F-LOG, dynamic range seems wider and shadows cleaner. Image is creamier, and less noisy at high ISOs. Base ISO is 640 in V-LOG, but extended ISO can go a bit lower. Compared to A7 III S-LOG 2/3, the codec is far more robust, less banding and compression, it looks like ProRes. I'll upload the original MOV files soon.
  20. It just makes finding individual clips a lot slower... I don't always want to have to import everything into a Premiere project just to see what I've shot. I mean c'mon Apple what the fuck are you doing all day. 10bit H.264 should be working 100%... In every part of the OS. Funnily enough, no such problem with the NX1 H.265 with current version of Mac OS. Oh and while on the subject... Does Adobe Premiere edit ADOBE Cinema DNG yet? Or was that a bit beyond those geniuses as well?
  21. The 18-135mm Fuji is pretty nice.
  22. I hope they go back to the NEX 7 slim body style and more dials. With Sigma fp around, who wants a chubby A6700?
  23. I think Nikon is meeting same problems as before with Nikon 1. A bit too much aimed at consumers, pricey lenses, not pro enough. We enthusiasts all know the Z6 is a very capable camera, but I don't think it's selling very well. Nikon 1 was a total failure by the end. Is full frame alone and fancy specs enough to stop Z series from a similarly miserable fate?
