  1. 10bit H.264 isn't much better on my Mac. No Finder preview, no Quicktime X playback and no Finder thumbnails either!
  2. Softly cinematic that was. GOOD JOB Bravery bonus points for going first.
  3. Yeah I've seen the 8K TVs on sale already. They are around. There is an 8K channel in Japan on TV broadcasting already. Don't think there's much to watch on it though
  4. It really has to differentiate itself. The market is very crowded now, compared to when the original A7S came out. 4K/120fps 10bit would be better than 8K. But I think it'll do 8K like the leaked sensor specs and codec specs we had earlier.
  5. Well that's going to put the cat amongst the pigeons.
  6. Seems they need stacked Sony A9 sensor for better rolling shutter. But I am very happy with my Z6 and S1, and to have that sensor in a camera the size of an RX1 is truly game changing. A guaranteed must-buy for me.
  7. I expect Sony A7S III to shoot 8K compressed raw internal. Sony will want to sell some TVs. Another reason it could be taking so long is that a complete revamp of the picture profiles and colour science is taking place. I also expect it to use the electronic ND tech from the FS5. If none of that is true then probably no point buying it aside from AF!
  8. Probably a pull from 14bit as far as the highlight roll off goes!
  9. No, they're going to add internal CDNG PLAYBACK not recording. No chance of 4K/120p in my opinion. I see it does 25/30p in H.264 4K mode... So they definitely need to get 24p and 25p working in Cinema DNG. Hope Sigma is listening to us and not to idiots.
  10. It depends on what is causing the greyed out frame rates... Early firmware? Region setting? User error? I am sure it will not just shoot 23.976. Agree it needs 24p.
  11. Seems there are greyed out high frame rates up to 120fps. These are probably only for 1080p in Long GOP H.264. I don't think Cinema DNG is internal, although you seem to be able to choose between 8bit, 10bit and 12bit... just like Magic Lantern Sigma's initial information is a bit unclear and we could do with getting a price sooner rather than later as well!
  12. Woah I completely missed that. ISO SIX!? TWELVE!!
  13. Going to be a lot of fun with Leica M lenses. It also has peaking. For a lens manufacturer, Sigma are very brave showing non-Sigma lenses in their adverts Although that one might be a bit front heavy That's more like it. Got to love the animated GIF Cinemagraph mode
  14. I'm guessing they wouldn't have a Samsung T5 in this shot, unless it was used for Cinema DNG It's a cinema rig setup after all!
  15. It's practically an interchangeable lens Sony RX1 with 2019 specs. Quite amazing really. Going to be huge fun for stills, not just video. I say give it a go. Foveon has amazing film qualities and colour, but they really need to sort the low light out before I use a Foveon camera as my main one.
  16. Now that's what I call a pocket cinema camera. Probably uses same BSI Sony sensor as the Nikon Z6 and Panasonic S1. The DNG I hope is to USB C SSD drive. Not going to be very ergonomic putting a big brick of a recorder on such a small pocket camera. Looks almost like an interchangeable lens Sony RX1 for stills... glorious. Knowing Sigma I am sure the price will be competitive. 4K ALL-I H.264 nice to see for internal recording. Any idea what bitrate? Sigma LOG? I see it has a Teal & Orange film style!! I love Sigma. Now let's hope RED don't claim patent dispute over Cinema DNG.
  17. They've not quite revealed all yet, but it had the flip screen which YouTubers like, it has the ALL-I codec, apparently does still have IBIS (unlike GH5S), will lose weather sealing due to the vent, and it has full-on anamorphic modes. What more it does, we'll have to wait and see!
  18. Managed to activate my code today. From the first shot I could see the improvement. 10bit 422 V-LOG with V-Gammut has truly punted this thing into PRO CINEMA territory.
  19. That would win the internet. Panasonic would get more attention for that than for winning the camera specs war!
  20. Maybe they merged some of the Varicam firmware into it? Or maybe it just has a really big library or 3rd party tool inside?!
  21. Wonder if they merged the S1 and S1H firmware? If it now powers both cameras that would explain the big size!
  22. The GH5S 400Mbit is ALL-I, and you need that higher bitrate to maintain the quality in ALL-I, with each frame needing to be compressed independently. 150Mbit V-LOG (with V-Gamut colour science from Cinema Varicam) is Long GOP so you do not need 400Mbit. The compression method is more efficient, so you can use lower data rates. Will be interesting to compare them nevertheless.
  23. Well they helped kill of Flash, and H.265 is a superior codec to VP9, so maybe they do.
