LL just banned political talk on their forum, and after the rocky ride of the last few topics that have talked about issues in the film industry and on YouTube, I would like to hear from YOU about what you think of it... https://luminous-landscape.com/changes-on-the-forum-coffee-corner/ Referendum is advisory

Peter Paul Chato says it all... I 100% agree with him. Casey did an alright job of the interview, but pulled some punches. Logan Paul isn't sincere... It's all a PR stunt. Good job the BBC Radio 1 at least chose not to broadcast their role in the stunt.... How they got involved in the first place, on the other hand... is a big question mark. He keeps referring himself as "The Brand"... Well he certainly is branded. It's also pretty clear he's paid some PR people to coach him. Dodging subjects with "I'm not sure I understand the question" and appearing to take "responsibility" by nodding and agreeing to negative criticism.

Sorry for your loss Mr E. Hope you have fond memories of him. I will lock this thread now out of respect to you and to avoid any possible troll comments. -
Good stuff. Russian one in particular!

Panasonic preparing production of full frame sensor for 2020?
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
8K is going to be a starting point for video at some point. Not soon, but it will be. This means 36MP+ Actually the 100MP Sony medium format chip has a very fast readout in the Hasselblad. But it has a lot of data to get through, so yes, some jello. In the future the readout speeds will be equal or better than same resolution full frame chips. A 50MP medium format sensor that does 8K video will always be preferable in low light to 50MP full frame. So for 8K, yes they will give a low light advantage over full frame. I own a GFX and that is superb in low light. The historic limitation of medium format cameras in low light was that they used CCD technology. On the GFX I have used a range of full frame lenses without vignetting at F1.4. Those that cover look FFFFFF amazing. Like I say it is not there yet but with 8K it will be. -
The real villian is Mike Cernovich. Charged for (real-life) rape in 2003... The year of his marriage. Nice guy. Divorced 2011, and he claims the marriage was ruined by "feminist indoctrination". Regular collaborator with Alex Jones. Claims "white genocide is real" in relation to South Africa. Thinks the chemical attack in Syria was a hoax funded by the US. Advocates IQ-testing for all immigrants. Has full support of Disney

There is space on the market for the lightest and smallest possible full frame mirrorless, for sure. Look at RX1R II and imagine something like that with interchangeable lenses! A dream. Maybe that's the future for Micro Four Thirds... Micro Full Frame has a much better ring to it

Panasonic preparing production of full frame sensor for 2020?

Yep there's a good chance it's for Leica. I still hold out some hope for the full frame Panasonic cameras though, I really think there's some hints it may happen. -

Haha what a headline -
Vignetting would be an issue if you moved it as much as a M43 sensor, I think. It will improved but I think M43 will stay ahead for a while. Unless Sony can improve with hybrid OIS / IBIS route.

I reckon Fuji's strategy is the longest term of anyone, it's predicting a future where full frame is the new APS-C and medium format is the default large sensor choice. You could have the full frame crop for sports at faster shooting rates and the full medium format coverage when you need extra resolution and incredible resolving power of a high-end medium format lens at F4. I think it could get more cost effective... not as in £1000 but £3000 to compete with top-end full frame cameras. I've been very happy with the GFX, a lot of cheap full frame lenses actually cover the medium format sensor (Contax Zeiss, Minolta, etc.) so I've saved money not needing to buy a lot of new glass, just adapters. It's my best stills camera but obviously they will need to step up video over the next few years... And I am sure they will. Medium format sensors are already doing 4K and 100MP at the same time... quite an achievement! The TechArt adapter for Leica M to E-mount is fantastic - AF is very fast, and through Leica M adapters it still works with a range of other manual focus lenses, like the Contax lenses. I'll be doing a blog post about it soon. I should try and get hold of the Canon autofocus adapter for Fuji X mount and the GFX version too... Although autofocus isn't the biggest strength of the GFX. It's ok with the internal focus GFX zoom but with the primes it can be quite bad.

So with Kevin Spacey's firing, the allegations are not proven and may never be, but nevertheless people believed them. They were pretty serious allegations, more serious than be accused over jokes, that's for sure. So it's not really an Apples to Oranges comparison. One is a man losing his career over unproven allegations. The other is a man losing his career over a bad joke act on Twitter. Maybe Gunn joked about what Spacey was actually doing to young boys and they were in it together - that's one for the right wing conspiracy theorists to investigate. Ever the reliable witnesses. And the joke cops. Don't forget the joke cops! If there is outrage enough, who needs proof?!

I fully expect Netflix to be the beneficiary of all of this. They're still taking risks... If the current culture and climate carries on though, they will be under a lot of pressure and controversy in 1-2 years, with numerous firings of creative directors and talent. PS modern music is boring as well. Completely lost it's edge, for the same reason film has. The silencing of voices such as Gunn's.

Will be interesting to read your opinion on this then @anonim https://www.eoshd.com/2018/07/boring-art-defending-voices-that-carry-from-attacks-by-right-wing-extremists/ -
A7 III is 24MP and it allows for the best video quality on any of the Sony mirrorless cameras, better than 12MP A7S II for instance due to oversampling. The technology is there now. And with quad bayer technology there's no need to reduce the megapixel count to improve low light performance or dynamic range. As for 4K 60P from 24MP. GH5 is 2 years old tech and does 4K 60P from 20MP... The tech is done. In fact we'll be at 8K in no time.

I am sorry to come between you and your love affair with the lovable Harlem shooter. I'm not going to get into all the ins and outs of why he pissed me off and why I think he's boring and annoying, because that would be defensive and to be honest I don't really need to defend myself. Everyone can see that the lovable Harlem shooter thought I was defending the amoral content of James' jokes, rather than see the issue around it and the dangerous precedence Gunn's firing sets for all of the creative industries. A real phenomenon and a trend. Next will occur, the blacklisting of certain characters and scenes. After that, a witch-hunt of actors in taboo roles, or even for working with the 'wrong' content (like bad jokes), because people can't tell the difference between fact and fiction any more, just like the President of the United States. -
New topic, as this is quite a separate take and subject, to the original thread (which crashed and burned in so much shock / horror) https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/firing-james-gunn-disney-hurts-all-hollywood-1129691 Says the respected journal: "A creative industry requires artists like the 'Guardians' director who push boundaries, make (offensive) mistakes and evolve, writes Hollywood Reporter columnist Marc Bernardin...“To demand that every artist who works for you to have never had a past...is asking for people who will make boring art.” Hopefully we can have a sensible debate this time...But please do read that article first. It's GOOD.

Magic Lantern does. Assuming the sensor even has a native ISO. Not all do.
