  1. The Adorama Fair on the 14th June provided a hands-on with the Sony A7R II according to user reports. I haven't verified the claims so take this news with a pinch of salt for now, but with or without salt the A7R II is looking very tasty indeed. Get all the full info on the blog
  2. Sensors do have a colour signature actually, it's not all just down to interpretation of the bayer data in software. The hardware makes a difference. CCD sensors vs CMOS for instance... The quality of micro lens, signal to noise ratio and the analogue to digital conversion onboard the sensor all impact colour.
  3. 1000fps at 1136 x 384 is unheard of for a consumer camera, breaks new ground, 250fps at 1080p is genuinely groundbreaking as well for £1k. That is going to look brilliant.
  4. The latest update stops movie standby mode from reverting back to photo mode after a clip is done recording.
  5. You can't tech somehow one to feel, how to have an interesting opinion to express and essentially that is what the creative side of filmmaking (and indeed music) comes down to. Sensitivity, life experience, taste and something to say... But then you're welcome to go and read the click bate on other sites about how to copy someone good.
  6. OK you go and write "you don't need a new script" on a writer's forum and see where that gets you.
  7. I agree 100%. Make this an interesting and positive place and it will thrive. Go off-topic and negative and it will die and what's more I will let it.
  8. This video very clearly shows how impressive the new Kipon EF adapter is for Micro Four Thirds. It is shown working with the Canon 70-200mm F2.8L on the Panasonic GX7. I expect performance to be even more impressive on the GH4 thanks to its cutting edge AF engine. Read the full article
  9. Kendy Ty is a professional who shoots Alexa. The 550D was a side project, simple and small.
  10. What the hell is with all the existential dilemmas and de-motivational posting, that's what I want to know.
  11. And what is wrong with discovery and learning? so glad I discovered anamorphic early enough to get hold of the gems
  12. What is wrong with the artistic appreciation of a camera and an image exactly guys?!
  13. No it isn't. Aimed at artists. That's a different field to film. It's called "animation". I love Hertzfeldt. He's a brilliant filmmaker in the field of animation. He does actually use photography in the mix though, so presumably he does actually need a camera. So your revelation in all this is that CGI wizards and animators don't need to research into camera choices... Genius! Stop stating the obvious and tell us something we DON'T know!
  14. Could it be that your display ruins the motion candace of the camera rather than it being a GH4 issue? Clearly CCD and global shutter help. But the display has a lot to do with it. For example if you leave your Mac or PC to scale the 4K to fit a QHD or 1080p monitor, that's going to introduce detail fatigue for your eyes and chance motion cadence.
  15. +1 for the Digital Bolex motion cadence. Even slowed down to 18fps like an old film camera, you can tell it is different to the CMOS sensors. And I have absolutely no idea why
  16. Jonesy have fixed the storage space bug, you will now be able to upload images.
  17. Yes I think it's an excellent policy! There are enough idiots who read the blog already, don't want to attract any more idiots! Enough idiots! My policy is no idiots! If you don't agree, you're an idiot!
  18. Rather more like the Blackmagic is heavy for the size. Like a block of lead! But then, it isn't a plastic toy like the XC10. Thankfully.
  19. My understanding is it dumps a series of frames at 24p to the card from the live view buffer. How many? How long for? No idea. But in the english language a series of frames = video as far as I'm concerned.
  20. I can assure you it is not. They have indeed enabled raw video. At what frame rate and at what maximum resolution for continuous recording has yet to be determined. What sort of headline would have satisfied you sir? "Nikon Hacker Enables Raw Video And Further Development Needed To Determine Final Usable Form It Takes Along With Resolution And Frame Rate And File Sizes And Whether It Will Arrive On the Nikon D750 Or The Soon To Be Rumoured D900 Please Wait To Find Out More" Is that specific enough for you? Headline writing lesson for Araucaria. A headline such as that above isn't a headline. It's a sentence. The purpose of a headline is to grab attention with as few words as possible. For example: Forum User Is Negative Wanker That's a brillaint headline.
  21. Says who? Let's hear more from the devs first before you write it off.
  22. Developer "leegong" of Nikon Hacker has made enormous progress in getting raw video from the live view function of the Nikon D5100. Early builds of the patch output raw frames to the card and A1ex of Magic Lantern has written a prototype / test DNG converter. Read the full article
  23. Yes set to 16-235. Then get EditReady to transcode, it's by far the best.
  24. Looks like they are already here!! http://www.canonrumors.com/2015/04/possible-issue-with-t6s-t6i-sensors/
  25. Let's get this straight. I think I speak for many when I say this... I'm not putting up a selfish analysis of Canon's woes. They really are failing to provide something innovative. That's the objective truth. We have been waiting forever for a innovative DSLR from Canon that does good video (without the pure good fortune of Magic Lantern and raw). Instead we got the XC10, the small chip camcorder we have to sellotape up so it works with the kind of equipment Canon is touting it for.... the small chip camcorder priced $2500 yet lacking a constant aperture on the lens... the clinical small chip camcorder in a world of more artistic interchangeable lens cameras... the small chip camcorder Canon think is a GH4 competitor when it is anything but...
