  1. As the megapixel race continues, there's something the average consumer doesn't realise. Most of them are walking around with 6MP lenses on their 24MP DSLRs. Read the full article
  2. No need to wait. Buy your camera operator a Ronin and throw them out of a helicopter.
  3. S for sensitivity, R for resolution. There's no V for video. It floats around the range to whatever suits. Nothing to stop the A7R having 4K in future.
  4. So does the zoom not flop out or does it?! You can't keep the truth from these pages as easily as you can some of the other bum licking parts of the internet
  5. Offers an alternative......................... For $8000 or $15,000!
  6. Jimmy the fan boy speaks again. It's not a prototype, it's a pre-production. Tiny little tweaks for mass production and it's done. If the non-prototype has a lock on the lens and doesn't need taping up for your drone, give us a call!
  7. Feast your eyes on this 9K image from Zeiss. Sony Alpha Rumors makes a good case for it being from the updated A7R II. I'd say it has a good chance of being real and here's why... Read the full article
  8. You're both missing the point big time. It's $2500 and they couldn't put a lock switch on the zoom.
  9. Numerous times Canon have touted the XC10 as a perfect drone camera. Let's see if they are right. Read the full article
  10. No! Really? Talk about stating the obvious. I believe mtheory's point is valid... Hollywood has run out of grounded stories to tell, so is not clutching at straws... throwing in the hero junk and the super power shit and hoping it sticks.
  11. Very good... ISO 6400 definitely clean and usable. 12,800 not too bad!
  12. 1000 euro could buy you a second hand 5D Mark II. Pop Magic Lantern on it for raw and you have the best low light camera but it might not be the workflow you're used to, therefore the Nikon D5300 is a solid bet or the upcoming D5500. Also consider 70D with raw. It's pretty handy up to ISO 3200 and you can keep your Canon lens.
  13. Will give you a clue... none. Because the camcorder market is dead. And the rest will use their smartphones or existing Canikons. The LX100 has a better chance on the streets. It's small and I still remember the days when all the tourists will using TZ3s and LX2s. Still room for a high end compact. The XC10 isn't compact.
  14. Yes it is, although most people know the drill on that by now right? Here's the first part http://www.eoshd.com/2014/11/shooting-4k-pocket-camera-exceptional-panasonic-lx100/ I still love it. The best small camera by a mile.
  15. The Sony RX10 – $999. OLED EVF. Check. Raw stills, check. F2.8 (constant) Zeiss zoom. Check. The Canon XC10 – $2500 – none of the above. Here’s why… Read the full article
  16. H.265 drag and drop into Edit Ready, you're done. ProRes / H.264 for your editing software. Stills are very good, 13 stop dynamic range and as good in low light as the D7200.
  17. Calculate the predicted rental charges on 3 years of FS7 or C300 Mark II shooting then deduct it from the predicted depreciation value of the cameras in that same time period. I predict the C300 II would lose $6000, the FS7 $4000. If the rental costs exceed that in 3 years then it makes more sense to buy them. Not to mention, buying allows them to be used for your own personal creative work! Lenses hold their value well. A7S a good choice too. But in his situation I'd probably get the FS7, a Mac Pro, a 4K display & spend the rest on Canon lenses and LED lights.
  18. Haven't got a 60D but expect it is much better image on the 70D. The 60D has a 20Mb/s SD card bottleneck. The 70D's SD card controller is doubly fast at 40Mb/s... and I find very reliable too. Doesn't seem as on the edge as 1080p raw on the 5D. I expect low light to be a bit better on the 70D too as it's a newer sensor, but not by much.
  19.   The AF is wonderful. Image isn't far off C100 Mark II at ISO 400 either, but raw baby!
  20. I don't see the point in the NX500. OK if you want to save money, it's fine. A review? Bit pointless. You know the drill. It's the NX1's sensor and codec with a crop and no top bitrate setting, minus some other features as well.
  21. The convenience of Dual Pixel CMOS AF is now coming to raw video, with Magic Lantern now available for all 70D owners. Read the full article
  22. Better to spend an extra 800 than waste 800 completely!
