  1. Guys!! The camera is basically built and working. I've seen the footage and the finished sensor boards. He is just ramping up to mass production now. It exists, it's not one of those Kickstarter head in the clouds things.
  2. True!! Would be very boring. At least for us. Not if you have $1m production budget to spend on cameras
  3. INSANE price. 3900 euros... wow. Why aren't they valued more? I don't get it. One of THE best images under Red and Alexa.
  4. Impressive. Wonder why not more have been talking about it.
  5.   There are some truly remarkable upgrade options for backers of the fps1000 project on Kickstarter, including 4K Super 35mm and also an ultra-sensitive Micro Four Thirds CMOS. The original fps1000 Platinum with Micro Four Thirds mount which I backed was £899 and is now due to ship next month! Read the full article
  6. If Jimmy does not buy that 1D C at £2500 I think he should do his friend a favour and put him in touch with a few people on this forum... Only fair
  7. Of course it's a vague source, do you really think they want their personal info online?
  8. Jimmy, just fucking buy it. If you don't I will!!!
  9. Good point there... pro stills and enthusiast stills photographers want to take stills from 4K video and Canon doesn't have that option on their biggest lines - 7D and 5D.
  10. I received an email from a NAB show visitor today who had spoken off the record to Canon and was told the company believes a 4K 5D Mark IV would completely overshadow the recently released C100 Mark II and so wouldn't happen, but that Canon LOG would likely go into the camera to allow shot-matching with the XC10. So to segment specs based on price, Canon is allegedly sticking to 1080p on future DSLRs. The exception is the 4K XC10 which isn't a competitor to the C100 Mark II or C300 Mark II as it features a tiny 1" sensor and fixed camcorder-style zoom lens by comparison. Read the full article
  11. I understand why this topic creates so much anger, Ed. If for example god forbid someone close to me would have been a victim, I'd have strong feelings about it and would want to campaign. Imagine if our mums or sisters would have been beaten. We'd want to do something about it. And if we perceived a criminal in our midst in the DSLR community we'd want to bring about justice. We can't. We don't have the facts. We don't have the remit. We don't have the due legal process. We only have social media and Facebook and some allegations against someone who many consider a friend. So until those allegations are proven by law or dismissed by law, campaigning in the filmmaking community isn't going to wash. It is just going to lose you many friends and supporters and get everyone down. PS - my mum's advice was the same... and she is the biggest feminist I know!! :)
  12. Dynamic range in the acting or in the camera?! I think Gale did a good job with it. The rest, especially the audio is not at the same level... but not exactly unexpected for such a quick shoot promo video. There are a lot of uncomfortable pauses in dialogue, as if the director and actors hadn't had enough time to get into the material.
  13. I'm more surprised the pro A9 didn't turn up with 4K. A sony competitor to the 1D C. The rumours sites look to have got it totally wrong on that one.
  14. Thanks for posting Daven! I am hearing it will be weeks not months before the firmware comes out for V-LOG.
  15. Am told by a close friend who was in meetings 6 months ago for this camera, that he gave the engineers 5 pages of notes on the mockup. It's just too dated! The control layout, the concept, the....everything.... it is literally a 10 year old DVX100 with 4K and a red backside!!
  16. I wonder who needs 365mm telephoto reach... Surely for documentary the 28-135 F4 on Sony FS7 would be more sensible. The stabilisation is 5 axis on the DVX200 but that zoom belongs on a consumer bridge camera with a big "20X!!" badge not a professional video camera. If they had made it shorter they could have also made it faster, not to mention a lot smaller!
  17. Shogun would take the raw, most likely. It is for other cameras. How else to resuscitate such a dud in the YAGH interface unit? And why is it on sale at Media Markt in Berlin alongside compact cameras? The mind boggles.
  18. Damn, wish there was a tiny Ninja Star style 4K ProRes recorder at NAB. A7S would love me for it. Where is that!?
  19. Even if they gave us raw via the YAGH only it would be better than doing nothing and not selling any YAGH LOL boxes. The one in Berlin near me is reduced from 2200 to 900 so I can't assume it has been flying off the shelves. Panasonic need to stop making silly mistakes. Before the YAGH came out I told them in a feedback session exactly what design it should have, and they went and made something completely ridiculous.
  20. This is 99% the way there, but Panasonic have made a very serious mistake. Should be interchangeable lens and Super 35mm. The market for anything smaller chip wise, with fixed lens, is a lot smaller and I don't think it will sell like the original DVX100 did. Panasonic are also crazy to give up on the AF line. AF100 was great. They just needed to update it, make it competitive with C300. Why didn't they? Varicam 35 is amazing but a totally different market and price point to C300.
  21. Good point and I hadn't initially realised the $2995 was for the cam with the old URSA 4K sensor in it not the new 4.6K one with 15 stops
  22. There's a big download button in the middle of the Resolve 12 banner for me... but it serves up v11.3. Grr!
