  1. My mistake, I missed it. All 3 modules work including the 5x optical and all in 4K, albeit with very slightly different aspect ratios
  2. It would also be good if the dev could enable RAW on the secondary cam modules. Would love to see the 5x periscope on P40 Pro spring into life. Would be like having a S16mm turret again.
  3. There's an android powered Samsung APS-C camera with NX mount, would be interesting if the developer could support that - probably only in 1080p but worth a go surely 🙂 I think the old Android versions lack the recent API that supports raw even in stills mode though, so that might hold the older stuff back. LG V50 should be ok, but I think for same price you can get a better main sensor.
  4. I hadn't realised it until you pointed it out, but Z9 is indeed 1340g which is on par with a D5 at 1400g and even more than S1H at 1150g! That's some heavy mirrorless camera. Hopefully they will trickle down ProRes and internal raw to a Z8 which will be a nice upgrade from a Z6. Have you considered getting a GH6?
  5. Do you know if the raw compression real-time or applied to the DNG when you convert in-app? RAW12 = 12bit?
  6. Went out to test a few shots in low light This one is ISO 1400: Didn't do any grading other than slight contrast bump in Adobe Camera Raw For a smartphone tis good ISOs over 1250 used to be completely unusable in stills mode let alone 4K video!! Going to see if 4K/120fps RAW works next.
  7. CM1 is outdated now because of Android 4.0, so very little will work. Although it has the 1.0 type sensor and uses all of it, it's quite an old sensor in video terms with no 4K at normal frame rates. It maxes out at 15fps. So the slow sensor and slow processor, and lack of computational imaging, frame merging, or advanced HDR capabilities really hold it back. In some instances an iPhone from 2 or 3 years ago will beat it for stills, and certainly for video. So take a look at the latest Xiaomi and OnePlus stuff instead 🙂
  8. Mi 10 is the cheap alternative. Usually on eBay for under $300 It shoots near identical video specs to the Mi 11 Ultra including 8K but the sensor is a bit smaller and lacks the periscope 5x folding optics. Sensor still massive compared to an iPhone though. I've been very impressed with it in 10bit 6K LOG and 8K H.265. The mc24 app is a good place to start for high bitrate video. Not tested the RAW app with it yet but will do soon.
  9. Still playing around with it. It's got some mojo.
  10. Amazing image quality on the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra Take a look at the full res 4K RAW frame A crop of it below: It has all the characteristics you'd expect from RAW on the original Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera but in 4K! Noise is quite manageable up to ISO 1600. File sizes are around 3.8-4MB per frame though, so make sure you try this on a phone with a lot of built in storage 🙂 Not tried the pixel binned or 1080p modes yet. Also has a feature to crop the aspect ratio to a cinemascope style one, which may reduce file sizes. Didn't seem to change my end-recording though which was 4080 x 2152. On the Mi 11 Ultra, it reported 24p as officially compatible But also said 120p and 48p 4K may work too. Much to explore here.
  11. Yes full steam ahead now, hope you continue to bookmark EOSHD 😉
  12. I think Dual Pixel AF will come to Panasonic's next bunch of cameras. A lot of people here I am sure would love to shoot with an Alexa, Digital Bolex or RED with manual focus lenses or anamorphic LOMOs so autofocus isn't even the top priority for most but I do 100% agree it's very useful for every day work I really think the R5C should have these too, being a Cinema EOS camera and likely $6000+? It's more likely to be exact same hardware as R5C just with the fan and firmware update to remove the artificial record timer.
  13. They should put a proper codec in there like ProRes because their 10bit 422 is very sluggish to edit at the moment. Anyone else find the same? And their Raw codec isn't anywhere near up to the performance of RED's or BRAW in Resolve!
  14. Really enjoyed the visor camera this year in Formula 1. Clearly a long way to go with better sensors and image quality, but the tech is pretty unique. Very important aspect is it passes FIA safety checks. It was a GoPro which allegedly killed Michael Schumacher because it punctured the helmet on impact during the infamous skiing accident. If there are any avid go-kart enthusiasts here, would be interesting to check out the off the shelf visor camera he mention as the image quality looks pretty good with that one and in many ways better. https://store.camboxmeca.com/en/content/14-cambox-mkv4-pro?utm_source=vision-v4
  15. It was priced for Hollywood to use as a crash cam, and for rental houses to buy a handful to rent out. Never intended to be a mass market product. These odd things always end up being the special ones, I forecast 1DC prices will be back up in the $12,000 range come another 20 years as they'll be collectors items (at least the ones still in a good condition).
  16. Yeah 1D C has serious mojo especially in Canon LOG, big fat files full of nice colour and texture, not over processed, not too electronic. I still have mine and will never sell it however obsolete it gets 🙂
  17. It's a dead system now! Too late for that famous firmware file to make an appearance. I reckon 1D C was cancelled almost as soon as it launched.
  18. The new RF lenses deserved a better housing, they've got the finish of an office printer.
  19. Yeah it's a server issue, just a settings change that's needed. Searches under 4 characters take up more CPU time as they match far more results, so it was an efficiency feature set-up by default by my host. I'll raise a ticket with them.
  20. So what's the overall gist of it so far then - experiences are all so differently. One guy had it go 2 hours in 4K/60p and the other had it go 15 minutes in the menus! Is it far worse in USB power mode?
  21. Thanks! How tricky is it to access all the old stuff from 2010-2018 I am wondering? I am thinking in the new site design, an archive of the Berlin "best of" days can be included so you can browse everything. I lot of people only just finding EOSHD will not even know it exists. The Digital Bolex footage, early GH2, 5D Mark III raw, the first Metabones speed booster prototype and seeing Berlin as it was before the recent upheavals would be nice to revisit but currently it takes a lot of digging!
