A 4K GH4 would be an interesting toe in the 4K market for Panasonic, and give them a valuable impression of real world demand for a semi-pro 4K camera which also has cross over appeal with consumers. Panasonic tend to skip 4 as it is an unlucky number in Japanese culture but Nikon don't (hence D4). I think the 4K era is as good a time as any to lose the fear of 4!

The 5-axis system is patented. Panasonic should just license it like Sony are doing for the full frame NEX 9.

I may as well be talking to a guinea pig. You're not privy to the situation. Now go and cry like the baby you are.

43rumors are waiting because they want to protect the source. There's no 'deal' or conditions at all. And no, manufacturers do not get involved with purposeful leaks. Every time a leak occurs it has the potential to negatively impact sales of existing models on the shelf. We had the info jointly sent to us by a known source. I am actually quite reluctant to publish it at all. And remember that with rumour information, it is a rumour. Could be wrong could be right!

A TrueSense sensor would not likely be destined for a Panasonic, as they're making their own sensors. After a brief trip to Sony for the GH3, the GX7 once again has a Panasonic chip in it. A Four Thirds sized chip from TrueSense would more likely be destined for the Blackmagic and Digital Bolex type cameras of this world.

TrueSense Imaging's sensors are behind the Ikonoskop and Digital Bolex cameras. Traditionally known for their CCDs, the company is now stepping into CMOS for the first time. Rudolf, luck is one thing but what about practical reality? I got my Iscorama non-MC for 70 euros earlier this year in an obscure Berlin camera store, it took me 4 years of searching and one lucky one off moment the likes of which may never be repeated. How the heck you are supposed to shoot like that as a working pro, I have no idea. There's a drought of good anamorphic lenses, and here is a company doing their best to solve the problem.

Above: Nino Leitner interviews Panasonic at IBC 2013 I have been given some exciting information about the future of the GH-line. But I can't say anything about it yet. Stay tuned to 43rumors in 2-3 weeks time. Needless to say the consumer division of Panasonic are turning their attention to 4K in a big way. I don't think the Iscorama is a realistic benchmark for any new anamorphic under $30k on the market. To design and produce one today would be very expensive. For the indie filmmaking market the problem with the Iscorama is that the price is on a journey far north of $3000 and the rarity is only increasing as people hold onto them. Not many on eBay these days. Great if you can find one. Great if you can pony up an astonishing amount of dosh for one. Not so great if you can't, and that's where the SLR Magic comes in. Room for both in my opinion! They are aiming to get the look as close as possible to what we want as filmmakers. They have my feedback, they have Edwins, they are in touch almost every day. Let's see what they can come out with.

The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera is slated for an end of September ship date now in more quantity, after a small tricke-out - the good news is that the extra time has given Blackmagic some leeway to tweak the camera. The DR is distributed differently so it isn't a very good test. Rather than just use the same exposure, they should have exposed for the sky so that the highlights were the same on both cameras, and then looked at the shadows. Admirable performance in terms of colour from the 5D Mark III though.

SLR Magic anamorphic prototype V3 - Part 2 - The footage
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
The edges seem to be the biggest area which needs improvement on the Letus, and this was shot at 200mm. Haven't seen the flare from it yet. Image from Clinton Harn http://www.clintonharn.com/?p=445 -
In part 2 of the SLR Magic anamorphic coverage we'll look at how the prototype lens looks and performs on the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. There's also a poll in which you can help influence the final lens flare this anamorphic produces. Sandisk have announced some professional-grade Compact Flash cards at IBC 2013 with capacities as high as 256GB. Branded Sandisk CFast 2.0, the real breakthrough is the speed of the cards, rated at 3000x compared to the current best 1000x cards. New Olympus E-M1 with "moire reduction" but no 24p
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Video quality looks good. Very detailed. -
At the beginning of the IFA show in Berlin, Andrew from SLR Magic dropped by at my studio and dropped off the V2 and V3 anamorphic prototype lenses the company are working on. As long time EOSHD readers will know I am a passionate advocate and shooter of anamorphic. The SLR Magic anamorphic is the first new lens of it's kind to be announced in many years. Unless you really need the articulated screen on the 600D get the 7D. Will you be shooting raw video? 7D is much better for that. ISO performance is similar on both, maybe very slightly better on the 7D.

Because I tried it and looked at the photos, with my eyes. -
New iPhone 5S at a glance - iSight camera gets 120fps slow-mo

One of the slides makes out the + key to be a dedicated shutter button, different in appearance to the existing + key. That isn't actually the case, and have corrected it in the article bullet points. -

What the hell is the point, really? It's a phone! Let's have 4K in our DSLRs but I can't see a use for it on a phone yet. -

Olympus have announced a new flagship Micro Four Thirds camera, the OM-D E-M1 which goes head to head with the GH3 but without any of Panasonic's focus on video. The camera offers only one frame rate at all resolutions - 30p. Read the full article here

"Moire reduction" image processor. Shame about the codec. For sake of a couple of lines of firmware code they have lost a bunch of customers. Nice stills camera though. If only Canon's were this 'ahead of the technology curve' and if only the Olympus had a full frame sensor. That would be the perfect camera almost. I have higher hopes for Sony. Big 4K push. Full frame NEX with Olympus 5 axis stabilisation. As a side note - nice marketing and web design from Olympus. At least someone in their US web design team has a clue if not in their video specs department, if indeed they even have a department.
