Simco123, I don't think the problem is EF mount Blackmagic cameras sitting on the shelf. The problem is how to make enough of them! Also there's a lot of people with Canon glass who will still be better off with the EF mount. You can't use Canon glass on the MTF version as there's no way to control the aperture. Unless you count a third party adapter. Birger? Good luck.

The parts are coming in slower than expected. To ship a grand total of 8 cameras to the USA after over a month of production at the factory has me a little worried at [i]how[/i] slow! Yes I agree that [i]part[/i] of the reason for the mount change is to shift some pre-orders and expectations to 2013. Notice that 31st of December is mentioned as the earliest possible shipping date - so essentially it is a 2013 camera now for the MTF version, and I'm expecting demand to outstrip supply of the EF version until the end of 2012. They are like gold dust!

I don't think still quality will be lousy. It wasn't that bad on the GH2 just not quite up there with the APS-C competition (7D, NEX 5N, etc.). The E-M5 proves you can have good stills quality on a Micro Four Thirds camera. Panasonic just need to sort the sensor and if what I hear is correct they have most certainly done that ;)

Indeed you can get a c-mount 12mm F1.3 that covers the sensor for $100. Search for Computar 12mm F1.3. SLR Magic 12mm F1.6 an even better choice though.

I know people who would happily spend $11,000 on L glass but not this. Is creativity dead? :)

Haven't seen the Expendables 2 and not much interest in seeing it, but I have heard this a lot. Was the reduction in quality on purpose for a rough & ready feel? If so then it isn't wrong. There's no such thing as wrong and right when it comes to art. Although calling the Expendables 2 that is stretching it a bit.

Not sharper so much as more detail and less noise. I can see why they did it. Smart move, and I love B&W.

This covers 23% more than Super 16, so it does cover the larger sensor in the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. Maybe not optimal in the corners though, like you'd expect for an expensive ultra prime on Super 16mm.

They're normal, compared to a DSLR or GH2 pretty much the same. Don't fear rolling shutter too much.

There's a pre-order re-allocation program. However you'd be well advised to keep hold of the EF until the MTF ships, and sell it in my view. You might even make 150% of your money back since demand far outstrips supply.

I actually really enjoyed Cameron's view. The technology is still exciting. But it doesn't have to be complicated. Let Cameron continue to develop 3D, it is in its infancy at the moment and the technology just isn't there yet.

Update September 7th... The camera's production has been hobbled by a parts shortage. B&H got between 3 and 8 units according to reports, and they shipped a few to some extremely lucky customers. I have a trip to the UK planned tomorrow, essentially it was in anticipation of the camera. Now I will be spending time with family before returning to Berlin for just a few days before Photokina begins in Cologne. Then I'll be in Croatia for 2 weeks. So unless Blackmagic can pull a rabbit out of the hat, I'm as fucked as you all are.

Yes it was sobering. I feel like it has been bumped down to Earth somewhat. I'm still excited about the actual IMAGE though.
