Got to hand it to the Canon marketing department. They are fast at putting out fires. An ability which in case of EOS R5 is useful in the literal sense as well!
-
I don't know. They are a bit too Florida for me. A bit Ken.

The most amazing thing about that is it only has 120 views. For a video with a topless model on the internet, that is a real surprise. It is proof of why Olympus couldn't sell enough cameras. They can't even promote tits on the internet.

And a complete lack of journalism too. Barney Britton. No backbone. Thinks he is a hotshot photographer "in" with all the CEOs because they use him as a marketing mouth. He is the archetypical Southern tweed wearing twat. Manchester guy would have had no nonsense replies, even if he had to deck him first.

He left Canon. Fired for the overheating situation.

Blackmagic casually announces 12K URSA Mini Pro Camera
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Director: Is the tree also 12K? Or 4K? Client: I want the fucking tree in 16K Dp: Heard of a zoom? -
I suppose if medium format cameras are nessessary for some commercial stills work, then medium format resolution is in demand for some clients in video and in cinema. So there is demand for it. Very top end, very niche, but it is there. I just think Blackmagic could do more in the mirrorless 4K/6K camera market than they have done.

Talking about 98% of people here is an idea for Blackmagic. Full frame Pocket Cinema Pro 6K. Articulated screen. ND. New body design with power efficient processor. Did I mention articulated screen? Yes the Alexa is wasted on us! But 12K? Bring it on!

Stock footage for billboards in Times Square!

Blackmagic casually announces 12K URSA Mini Pro Camera

I don't mind where they get the sensor from. I just think 6K full frame would have more use, creatively and be more in demand than a 12K S35 URSA -
Interesting. But why?

WHAT?! Sounds like a made up sensor invented by @androidlad I'll believe that when I see it 😉 -
In-sensor scaling. So pixel binning? Because if it is in-sensor, it can't be oversampling, unless the sensor has some alien tech we don't know about.
-
It is marketing shenanigans. A banner halo product to say "We make the best technology and have 12K, but Canon only has 8K". I don't think it exists because of demand or creativity, or doing what Pocket customers want.

Ok looks like I was wrong. I'll update the list 😆 The Leica CL and TL2 plus original Q still have no 24p, so very weird that the Q2 has it.

Blackmagic casually announces 12K URSA Mini Pro Camera

On the 5th day of the month that the dark side of the moon becomes visible for first time and Jupiter turns blue. Good question! What was wrong with a 6K full frame Sony!? -
Haha it's such a ridiculous year. Not just a strange day! I have absolutely zero use for the 12K URSA. Why on earth didn't they get the Pocket Pro with full frame Sigma Fp sensor and internal BRAW out instead? I am pretty sure they still have one up their sleeve. Correct me if I'm wrong but the 4K RAW is from an enormous S16 crop... 2.8x crop factor! There is no S35 4K mode is there?

https://www.eoshd.com/news/blackmagic-casually-announces-12k-ursa-mini-pro-camera/ https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicursaminipro Oh no! The megapixel race has come to cinema. $10,000 with an 80 megapixel Super 35mm sensor, the new URSA Mini Pro shoots 12K BRAW. The technology in this camera is practically unheard of.

Multiple elements are coated not just the front. So you'd have to do a complete disassembly. Not practical as a DIY jobby!

Jared Polin doesn't get it - EOS R5 overheating
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
He's the kind of guy who if he walked into the local pub in Manchester, everyone would be thinking "who the fuck does he think he is" The sheer ego of this kind of American always amazes me. Just tone it down. Toneh it down. Go and pet a baby deer. -
Canon EOS R5 has serious overheating issues – in both 4K and 8K
Andrew Reid replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
The overheating is what it is, and very disappointing. I suppose we'll have to move on from it at some point and look at what it does offer when it is actually operating! I am excited for the 4K/120p, although it is pixel binned and Sony A7S III will be full pixel readout. So that might be the better option for 120fps. I am excited for the 8K RAW for very short bursts or very short shoots. First 8K camera and could be interesting if they fix the compression. 3:1 is not enough in 8K RAW, we need to go further! Phone RED again and buy some more patents! Swap your mount! Even better steal their codec! As for the 8K oversampled 4K I think it's the most interesting mode in the camera. The pixel binned 4K/24p and 60p are there too when you need the longer recording times or the weather is hot. It's not a dead loss of a camera. -

The cheek of tagging it "Breaking news" in the thumbnail. Can you imagine the BBC being 7 days late to a major news event and suddenly claiming a scoop! It's that ridiculous. But anything goes on the internet and people seem to fall for it hook line and sinker. The last video was called "THE TRUTH about overheating" - where he called the facts speculation. Not much truth in that. And now the latest one is the BREAKING NEWS. Not a single comment calling him out for his bullshit. Why do I get so much agro but the idiots get off free? -
Most recent manual focus full frame film below, tiny crew, basically one DP. I get what you're saying - AF makes things easily for a single operator. But there are now a number of very high profile feature films with a single camera operator (even Oscar nominated) shot on small manual focus cameras like the GH2, 5D 3, and in similar manner to Sigma Fp in Sin-sin for instance (GH2 sometimes at F0.95 no less). Not only are they artistically a successful cinematic achievement, the smaller camera and more direct hands-on control for the director and cinematographer was the primary reason for getting away from ARRI or a RED. AF also has a tendency to do what the machine wants, rather than the human. No AF is bullet proof. If it wonders off, that's the entire take ruined and you have to go again without any guarantees it will be better.
